Saw her in Bangkok on her farewell tour. She didn't sing much opera, but she did an encore of O Mio Babbino... I cried my eyes out!

Just Carmen today at Lyric Opera in Chicago. Micaela's Aria was the most heart rendering moment today...wow.

Much too is made of how well Joan S sang at 60..... actually wobbled at 60 .. Kiri's voice is as steady as they come.. just lovely.. way better than listening to Sutherland.. who was ...less musical as well.

Much is made of This Devia woman's voice at 60... I say Te kanawa's voice at the same age is BETTER.. it is freer, more inately beautiful. She is a much better musician. This is SO easy for her. I love Kiri.

Thank you, kissthecamera, for drawing my attention to the breathtaking breath control! A similar achievement is Kiri's interpretation of Elizabeth in Verdi's Don Carlos, particularly that splendid aria "Toi qui sus le néant..." that ends with "...aux pieds de l'Éternel" in a whisper. Although she did not sing it on stage, the record (French Opera Arias) is a jewel in my library.

Hi, in fact, Dame Kiri sang Elisabetta, in the italian version od Verdi´s Don Carlo on stage, at Chicago, I think in 1985. I have a complete broadcast recording from it. Is a dream cast: She, Ramey as Philip and Tatiana Troyanos as Eboli. Osawa conducted

One of my favourite arias especially coming from Dame Kiri. Magnificently sung. We have seen her in 4 live-concerts - I can conclude we have the experience of a lifetime.

Amazing how well her voice has held up! She has had a tremendously long singing career, largely due to a fantastic vocal technique. Not to mention she looks 10 years younger than she is. Brava Dame Kiri!
