i was at a friends house playing video games and when an earthquake hit i thought it was the controller vibrating way more than its supposed to. i threw it down expecting it to set on fire or something. lol.
what about hurricanes im in Florida i haven't been in a tornado or earthquakes. maybe floods i personally haven't been in a flood but i vote for hurricanes being an option
it was the 94 northridge quake. I lived in Lakeview Terrace at the time. It was 4:17 in the morning.I was lying Nked in my water bed. and I couldn't find my glasses. i think i sold my water bed the very next day.
do people really walk around naked in their own house that much..and me.. i like tronado... flooods are scaryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
LOL ur so cute. Well to answer your question I would choose a earthquake anyday. Im a native of so.cal and having been through some big quakes like the 7.3 landers followed by the 6.5 big bear back in "92" i still would choose earthquakes. Yeah they are scary and yes they normally hit when your in your p.j's or naked but thats why you always have a pair of shorts next to the bed to grab as you run out the door. And no I dont get under tables< i run out the door...
Dude. Earthquake = Wide open space. Tornado = Bathtub and mattress. Flood = Anywhere high. Always carry an extra pair of underwear, because you might need them after the disaster. I would have to choose Tornado cos they look so cool.
Are you gay? You were banging around on your bed and it kept cumming and cumming. I'm kidding, I just had to say that. you know you had it cumming...ah I mean coming.
I've been through cyclones(1), earthquakes(5), tornadoes(4), flood(2), hurricanes(2).... I was at school for 2 tornadoes... They made us get under our desks for eight hours... The tornado went litterally right over our school...
I've been in several tremors. But not an earthquake I don't think lol They don't really scare me all that much but the first time we had just moved into our new house in El Salvador and there was a big one and we didn't know what to do lol
and said "That's it, i'm telling dad." and told my dad, and he came out, and said "that wasn't your brother, that was an earthquake" xD. that's my Earthquake story. :D
my earthquake story: So i ha just gotten home from school, and sat at the table next to my sister, to do my homework. {[ilive in California. San Jose.(:]} but anyways, i was always messinhg up on it so i had to get my eraser and keep erasing it, and when i was erasing it, it kept shaking the table. and it would get my sister like, really pissed. {[she threw her pencil at me.): it hurt.]} so one time i was just sitting there, writing, and well, the table shook. so my sister got up,
when i was in italy when i was a wee lassie (about five) there was in like upper fiver lower sixes or something? anyway..
i just woke up and everything was shaking really hard and it was like being thrown around in a bouncy house and my mom and dad and brother and sister (well my sister was screaming and my brother was like having an asthma attack and my mom was liek WHAT DO WE DO WHAT DO WE DO and my dad was like REMAIN CALM) anyway we went outside. :) soooo scary thoughh.
Tornado, flooding or earthquake, they all suck. But if i had to pick i would prefer tornado because there is some kind of warning. Earthquakes just happen and there is little to nothing you can do about it.
Hey, I was in my underwear too when it happened. I did both a #1 and #2. First experience earthquake. Anyways, I'd prefer a flood cause my neighborhood can't get a flood.
woah no way I'm in San Jose and it was only 4.1 so don't exagerate, buddy :) It was awesome, I was home sick that day and it felt like something vibrating on my bed so I started looking for my phone thinking it was a text xD
Tornado, because that's the one with a chance that I'm not affected. And I highly doubt it since I live in Sweden, the worst thing here are the heatwaves during the summer. Gets over 40 degrees(celsius)
I live in Chicago but never experienced a tornado but experienced an earthquake. Earthquakes are very unusual here in Illinois but I felt it here in Chicago and It wasn't so bad. Now a hurricane is scary because I lived in Miami Florida before and been through many of them and they are terrifying plus everything gets flooded. Blizziards are also a pain because it gets to cold and to much snow. So if I had to choose of all natural disasters it would be an earthquake.
Everyone says earthquake. But you guys are thinkin of small earthquakes like 4-5. But if you were in a 6.8 like the Northridge earthquake, you would definately change your mind. I'd choose a flood by the way :)
Im deathly afraid of natural disasters. I have never experienced an earthquake.. even though i have lived in Cali my whole life. I would definately NOT want to experience a tornado cuz Im most afraid of those. So im gonna have to say earthquake. Yeaaaa
ANYTHING but a tornado. Those freak me out. Ever since Day After Tommorow....lol. But I also live in California, and have experienced an earthquake or two, so probably that.
The most recent one lasted only for about ten seconds, but it was a 4 or 5 point something...or something like that. I was on the computer, and I thought my dad had walked in and started shaking the desk. I turned around, no one was there, and I realized the whole room was shaking. Wasn't too bad, but still freaked me out.
about 2 years ago i was flying from phoenix to seattle on business, and had never experienced an earthquake in my life.so on that flight we had a lay over in san diego, and our flight was delayed for 4hours, so i figured i would sleep on the chair and set my alarm on my phone.i must of been realy tired because i slept right through a mild earthquake. shortly after i wake up, and everyone is like freaking out! and i had no idea what had happened i was soo mad i didnt get to feel an earthquake
Flood - they really never show up so fast that you can't get away from them if you really want to. If I have to actually live through something, then earthquake.
Can I mix tornado and flood to make it "Hurricane"?. I grew up in a city where they always hit us 2 or 3 times per year, but they are so common here that they are already part of our callendars like "oh great October! here comes 4 hurricanes!" and since everybody knows how to act already, on VERY rare ocassions are actual casualties. So, since I consider them to be the "least dangerous" natural dissaster, I would prefer Hurricane... I have never experienced none of the 3 you mentioned though.
I grew up in Southern CA and I have to say, with an earthquake you don't know it's coming. So there is no pre-anxiety. I am now in Texas and when the alarms go off to say a tornado has been spotted take cover immediately and one child is on a bus, another still in school and your spouse at work and I'm left at the bus stop by myself? Talk about freaking out!
they are all pretty flippin' scary but.... probably tornado out of all of them. I am TERRIFIED of drowning and like he (^) said, there is nowhere to hide during an earthquake.
I'd rather have a flood. Experienced a 4 second earthquake once...and it scared the crap out of me. Hehe..with floods...You usually know they are coming. Well, in Oregon you do anyways.
Earthquake all the way. not only are they fun in my opinion, but I'm used to them so I wouldn't panic as much as I would during a flood or tornado. I wish I had an earthquake story for you, but every time I've been in one I'm asleep and it wakes me up. lol not that interesting.
i'd rather experience an earthquake. i think it's "better" to be rattled a little bit than to have your roof torn off by a tornado or have your house float off in a flood.
hmm i would choose earthquake cuz it would be fun to be shooken(shaken??? idk) all around but im also ok with the earth not moveing or spliting into a bottomliss pitt of terror.....8)
Oh yeah, by the way, Ikea furniture is not good quality. It will die in a quake half what you had. Get some strong, heavy realwood tables and crawl under it and roll with the earth and become one with it. The planet doesn't seem to mind earthquakes, why should we petty humans make a big deal out of it. This has been going on for longer than we have been here.
You are from the midwest, eh? Have you heard of the New Madrid fault between MO and IL and in 1816 the sight of the worst earthquake in US history? The Ole Mississip flowed northward for about a week and the riverbed shifted many feet. Bell towers rang as far away as Baltimore. Here in CA, we are built for the enivetable shaker. The event is over in less than a minute and as long as you have canned goods, water, and propane or sterno you have a 95%+ survival rate.
I would have to say earthquake.....I hate tornadoes and I always will. they freak me out and they are so destructive. (I know earthquakes can be too.) I just think that earthquake is the lesser of the 3...I have been through an earthquake and I live in OH (funny right)
Lol we had an earthquake in the uk...was lil one, but i was still screaming at the dorm above telling them to get jiggy on another night not around exam times.
This is so funny! I was there too (!) and the people I was with just laughed - I freaked! I went to the doorway (screaming loudly). I live in a tornado area - I rather go for the 5.4 earthquake, but nothing bigger!
I was 15 & living in the San Fernando valley when the 94 Northridge quake hit. Man, I seriously thought that it was the end of the world! I had two uncles that lived with us at the time, that were extremely religious, like "helped perform exorcists" religious, so you KNOW they scared us kids about the world ending. I pulled the blankets over my head and waiting for something to happen, but then I just heard my mom come into the room and ask if we were ok. I was on the top of a bunk bed.
we actually had an earthquake here in the uk a while ago that was strong enough near where it began to cause some damage to houses.. i was laying in bed at night ( quite plenty of miles from the epicenter )and felt the bed shaking ...half asleep i wonderd wtf it was and thought was someone breaking in the house ...turned out thankfully that wasnt the case lol... as for wich disaster would i rather ..hmmm earthquake if it wasnt bad lol
I live in Cali, so I felt the earth quake. its actually a funny story! I was watching A Haunting on Dicovery Channel (where they re enact stories people tell of hauntings, possesions, etc) And there was this one where there was like a demon. And the house was shaking! (get where I am going with this?) so when i felt the earthquake, i SWEAR the first thought in my head was demonic haunting. LMAO i have a fucked up head, I know. LMAO
earthquakes are fun! and they're not seasonal like torandos or hurricanes. you're supposed to stand a doorway because it's usually all that's left of any given building. resist the urge to run outside especially near highrise buildings, you know, falling glass and all.
check it out, google "earthquake aftermath" most all the doorways are all that's left of a building.
Earthquakes. Only cuz I've lived through it my entire life. Was living in Northridge when that quake happened in the 90s. I'd be scared of any other natural disasters, especially like a tornado.
TORNADO! I live in México, in the pacific coast (and talking about that..."pacific" isnt the right description for it ;-)) We have like 10 to 15 hurricanes at year, and its not that bad actually if u have a good house, and fortunaly, i have one of those! Earthquake, damn!! Its freaking scary! I´ve been in a 8.5 points earthquake and, let me tell u something, ITS THE HELL ITSELF! And floods, well, it comes with the hurricane. So... there u go: HURRICANE OR TORNADO!
I have that same ikea shelve. i would mourne its loss too..:) my condolences. as for whichIprefer.... I been in a hurricaine and experiences a tornado as well. both were freakign scary.I vote earthquake but of course I have never experiences one of those yet so I could be making am istake. hehe. but it's cool though..not like you can actualy choose those..unless you are a storm chaser.
Earthquake for sure. I'd go for a doorway because that's where the support beams for the house run through, if those give way... Then you have a problem.
Tornadoes are like the Russian roulette of disasters, it may or may not take your house depending on which way the breeze is blowing.
Floods and storm surges TOTALLY SUCK!! And as well all learned last year in Australia from the floods. Don't go Bodyboarding down storm pipes!! Sure it's cheaper then going to Wet & Wild, but is it worth it?
we deal with hurricanes in Miami and they are boring and you eat a lot. As for the eartquakes jump around a lot so you can be in the air as much as possible. hows that? :P
I would definitely stick with tornadoes because I know what to do with them and how to get out of danger. Plus you have that cool siren that makes your ears bleed.
I've been through two major earthquakes and some tornado drills...no real tornadoes yet, but I don't know the earthquakes were scary, but that's just my opinion
I'd stick with the earthquakes, I mean you can't escape it and you don't know when it's coming, but I've been thru a few and USUALLY they are not too bad (kinda scary though). I just run outside where nothing can fall on me when they happen, then I sit on the ground and enjoy the ride. Tornados suck cuz they rip off your roof and you could get sucked out. Floods would be my second choice, but after seeing Katrina...ew.
Btw, earthquakes are the reason I don't sleep naked.
I lived through Hurricane Dolly. It took our fence and two of our trees and South Padre Island is completely destroyed. Luckily it was only a category two but it still caused a lot of damage. It's the first time we have had a direct hit in many years.
Haha, I was just talking about this same thing. I'm in Nebraska and tornado warnings are the usual, but if I was in the middle of an earthquake I'd panic. xD
Earthquake. No tornados or floods for me. I'm a native Cali girl, and have been through some pretty bad quakes, and my suggestions is.. just rock and roll with it! Not much else you can do! ;)
man! the earthquake started in chino hills an my cousin lives there!they must have felt it really hard but by the time it got to me it was a little weaker.
I've only ever dealt with earthquakes and floods, and I could choose earthquakes over ANY natural disaster. As long as you don't panic, they're really not that bad.
(And your supposed to go under a table to stop things from falling on you, just make sure its not glass. ;))
i like in north dakota and i would rather experiance a tornado than a earthquake or flood cause those cause way more damage and you cant run from them Steph and Harlee :)
I've been in all three. I choose tornado. It causes the most localized damage.

This has been going on for longer than we have been here.
forloveoffilm 3 years ago
You are from the midwest, eh? Have you heard of the New Madrid fault between MO and IL and in 1816 the sight of the worst earthquake in US history? The Ole Mississip flowed northward for about a week and the riverbed shifted many feet. Bell towers rang as far away as Baltimore. Here in CA, we are built for the enivetable shaker. The event is over in less than a minute and as long as you have canned goods, water, and propane or sterno you have a 95%+ survival rate.

i dont know why everyone is making a big fuckin deal about it likes theres never been an earthquake in california it wasnt even that bad

you're supposed to get in a doorway or under a desk to protect yourself from falling debris
tylermanchesteruntd 3 years ago
No the doorway thing is a bad idea because the door swings back and forth(hitting you)
brian92992 3 years ago
You're supposed to stand in the doorway so that the ceiling doesn't fall on you.

I would have to say earthquake.....I hate tornadoes and I always will. they freak me out and they are so destructive. (I know earthquakes can be too.) I just think that earthquake is the lesser of the 3...I have been through an earthquake and I live in OH (funny right)

I was on the top of a bunk bed.

we actually had an earthquake here in the uk a while ago that was strong enough near where it began to cause some damage to houses.. i was laying in bed at night ( quite plenty of miles from the epicenter )and felt the bed shaking ...half asleep i wonderd wtf it was and thought was someone breaking in the house ...turned out thankfully that wasnt the case lol... as for wich disaster would i rather ..hmmm earthquake if it wasnt bad lol
piercedNtattooed 3 years ago
Definitely earth quakes.
Expierience.
LMAO

earthquakes are fun! and they're not seasonal like torandos or hurricanes. you're supposed to stand a doorway because it's usually all that's left of any given building. resist the urge to run outside especially near highrise buildings, you know, falling glass and all.
check it out, google "earthquake aftermath" most all the doorways are all that's left of a building.

now i understand why people actually choose to live in new jersey, the only threat of a natural disaster they are at risk of facing is
High Hair, and the smell between philly, and camden covering the entire state!

all of them. tornado probably above all else, meteorology ftw
:)
funnybanana 3 years ago
Earthquakes. Only cuz I've lived through it my entire life. Was living in Northridge when that quake happened in the 90s. I'd be scared of any other natural disasters, especially like a tornado.
ariezboy 3 years ago
ScrubsMD 3 years ago
I'd go with tornado, simply because the safety precautions include throwing yourself into a ditch if you happen to be outdoors.
FluffyCuddleBunny 3 years ago

Sure it's cheaper then going to Wet & Wild, but is it worth it?
hotaruodori 3 years ago
Haha, I just moved from the LA area to Illinois, around Chicago.. and experienced my first big storm with tornado sightnings.
I prefer earthquakes.

we deal with hurricanes in Miami and they are boring and you eat a lot. As for the eartquakes jump around a lot so you can be in the air as much as possible. hows that? :P

I've been through two major earthquakes and some tornado drills...no real tornadoes yet, but I don't know the earthquakes were scary, but that's just my opinion
KtrueShawtY 3 years ago

I didn't feel a thing. I was on a bus when it happened.
As far as natural disasters go, I absolutely hate floods. It's nasty. All that sewage water comming into the home ruining everything.
