Why can't people just accept that some videos are just incredible and unique? Just because your simple minds can't comprehend what it is happening before your eyes, there is no need to render this video a fraud, with a horrifically tedious and monotonous chorus of 'FAKE'.
If you don't know 100% a video is a 'fake', then keep your gob's shut. You're just making yourselves look like complete and utter tits, and the only impression I receive of you is that you suffer from severe learning problems
Stop the video at :22 seconds. Doesn't anyone else have a problem with the way that fireball is reflectiing off of that ship? The jet is actually on the other side of the ship when it explodes and the fireball reflection is a bit intense. I think that this video was messed with. The plane probably crashed in real life, but that explosion just doesn't seem real.
@XXXFirebird76XXX Sorry mate, you're wrong, before the explosion the plane makes hard right bank, so it would and will appear on the right (starboard) side of the ship. Reflection itself can be explained by the surface being wet(rainy day??). Explosion altered the flight path quite radically, but it seemed like catastrophic enough failure of the engine to cause that... Don't believe there's any foul play in video...
Yes, but check out how it is reflecting on the back side of the ship. Stop at :22 and examine the explosion reflection. They don't even look similar. Plus, the reflected disappears before the explosion does. It's a computer generated reflection.
The surface of the reflection appears on is not plain, it has colour itself(gray) and is stationary compared to camera viewpoint(the plane/fireball is not, still moving about 600mph, banking left). Recommend basic physics lessons on wave energy (sound, light etc) and mirrors, focal points, reflection to see that there is nothing unrealistic going on...
@XXXFirebird76XXX Says internet commentator with no training in video analysis. That's the problem with the modern world. Everyone with access to a keyboard thinks they have a valid opinion. You know what else? Forget this respect each other opinion's crap. I don't have to respect your opinion. I have to respect your right to have an opinion, but not the opinion itself. The opinion can be just ill informed, stupid, and wrong, which it is. So shut up.
A simple "I disagree" would have sufficed instead of rambling on like a maniac.
You only have to have a simple understanding of physics to realize that the reflectioin off the ship isn't real. How is it that an explosion on the other side of the ship is reflecting off of the side of the ship that is facing us? The reflection on the side/back of the ship is computer generated. This is easy stuff, dude.
@XXXFirebird76XXX Look up the definition for "faketard" some time in the urban dictionary. Now please, if you'd like to analyze videos, go to school, study something, come back when you have a degree in video analysis or photography, or psychology for all I care. But until then, just shut up and go comment on fragging n00bs on COD or whatever the hell you guys do.
F 18 was not around then first of all. Second, this not just an engine blowing up. It's called FOD . Something got sucked into the intake and destroyed the engine. Happens to all jets, no matter what. Commercial jets also. If a bird gets sucked up into that engine, it's gone. Even a little pebble can bring it down. F 18 over all is inferior to the F 14 by the way.
"On 20 September 1995, an F-14A Tomcat crashed in the vicinity of John Paul Jones. A fly-by at transonic speed was performed, during which the engine exploded (due to "compression failure") 55 miles away from the carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. Both pilot and WSO ejected and survived with only minor burns."
"The cone only forms when a plane flies past a particularly humid area, it's pressure envelope increases the air pressure around and causes the water vapor to instantly condense. Once the plane passes, the pressure is released and the condensed water would just as quickly re-vaporize. Of course the faster a plane goes, the greater the difference of pressure and so the effect will be more evident."
actually, this happens when the jet is nearing supersonic speeds. around .95 mach. it doesn't need to be breaking the sound barrier. in this video, the jet did not break the sound barrier. there's no sonic boom.
I'm fairly sure they would have survived. Given that they were quick enough to eject and a US naval ship were on the scene, i'd be shocked if they didn't survive.
Why is it? It might not seem likely but the sound 'barrier' isn't a physical barrier; it's just the speed that sound travels given the wind, temperature and air pressure at the time. When a pilot ejects he still has forward momentum from being in the plane, plus the upwards momentum from the ejection seat. Add those two forces together at average flying speeds and you may well be moving faster than the speed of sound during an average ejection.
Two Parachutes! That's all I wanted to hear. I took a ride on the USS John Paul Johns, from Everette Was. to Seattle, for the 03 or 04 Seafair Show. I was one of the press. I got some great shots of the engines in their glass Casses, very impressive.
be careful: if you express indifference or intelligence and lack of being brainwashed by ego on youtube they may actually make it so a small fraction of your comments get posted and most of your thumbs up / thumbs down DON'T register as having happened. This might not even get posted.
And it wasn't a mechanical failure. The pilot pulled back on the throttles too quickly causing the flame out then explosion.
Unfortunately this was not the first time he had done this, and the next time was his last. He ended up crashing I believe it was in South Carolina, and he and his co-pilot didn't survive that time.
whats the plus side of pulling the throttles back quick enough to flame out? he mustve had friends , the Navy would hate losing billion buck planes to horseplay
No plus, just not paying attention to what he was doing. This was the second time he had done this. From what I remember the first time he didn't lose the plane, and the very last time he crashed into a neighborhood because he was at such low altitude and couldn't get it restarted.
On 20 September 1995, an F-14A Tomcat crashed in the vicinity of USS John Paul Jones. He ejected. I heard he was okay. Apparently something got sucked into the engines. The explosion looked deadly, but it probably only gave the pilots some burns.
Only if you weren't positioned correctly. Pilots go through special ejector seat training, and they are taught to sit in a certain position when ejecting in order to prevent injury. Also, the rush of air would be intense, but not deadly, and you would slow down as soon as you left the plane.

This is fake. Look at the reflection of the explosion on the ship. Does that look real to you? The reflection is more intense then the actual explosion. Also, look very close at the speed of the jet and how the explosion seems to slow things down way too much. It just doesn't work that way. Plus, I think I can see where they messed with this film digitally just before the explosion happens.

"Seeing the shock" doesn't mean it's mach 1. Common misconception. You're just seeing condensing water vapor in low pressure areas around the wings. And you DEFINITELY didn't hear a sonic boom.

"Seeing the shock" doesn't mean it's mach 1. Common misconception. You're just seeing condensing water vapor in low pressure areas around the wings. And you DEFINITELY didn't hear a sonic boom.
