longer you leave it on the better that toner works ;) sure it leave like a purply colour on your hair but then that makes your hair stay less yellow then it should :), first time i used it i left it on till it went hard :P lasted me 3 weeks while washing every other day till had to be re done :D

so you just slap it on and rinse it out? do you shampoo it out or just rinse it out really well? i've used manic panic (super dark purple) in my hair before and it said not to use shampoo because it washes out easily.

@PNKELEPHANTSONPARADE this acts almost like a dye. no toner stays in your hair permenantly it will always fade, so if you wash your hair with shampoo after it will wash out alot of what you just put into it. just rinse it out really well and on the following days you wash your hair with purple shampoo to prolong the effects of the toner. i know you can get the john frieda shampoo at your local drug store. sorry for the really long response i just wanted to help.

very informative! thanks ahha. but also I have a peachy pink in my hair. to get the color out faster do you think I could use the clarifying shampoo. I think you mentioned that. a lot of parts in my hair are already blonde but some areas are still pink an I'm deff not bleaching my hair again. hah.

I dunno if you'll even reply but I have a question about this stuff. So I get a bunch of high lights and low lights that are straight up white and my hair looks white especially for the first few days of getting it done. Recently it's getting a yellowish tint and I was looking into this. Can I use this stuff on my hair still even though my entire head isn't white or should I only use it if I dye my entire hair white? Please let me know if you can or if someone else who read this can help let me

@Erybabe1992 yea, its fine. You would only need to apply it to the highlighted parts but you could just apply it to your whole head if you can't be bothered seperating the highlighted parts out. Its chemical free so it wont harm your hair or anything like that

I watched this video because I had a bottle of this product collecting dust on my shelf - I moistened the parts of my hair that are bleach blonde then put the product in for about 50 minutes & used heat for about 5 mins - I noticed some results but will probably get better ones from using the product regularly+keeping it on longer. Much easier than having to mix a bunch of things and hope for the best!

You can leave it on longer, it won't give you purple tones at all. I left it in for three hours and my hair came out very platinum, with highlights of white, making it look like a more natural version. If you're going to be giving advice you should at least have gone through the bad situation.

@WhatWouldCharlieSay If your hair is orange, no. You would need a blue toner to get rid of the orange colour. If your hair is a more yellow-ie, then yes the purple toner, or purple shampoo should work

I toned my hair twice with this product and didn't get it white..I left it on for an hour and 20 minutes the 2nd time and there was no purple in my hair.

@chayshay13 Its depends on the color of your hair. This product is meant for hair that is bleached to the yellow stage. It will work slightly on orange hair but it will not make it white. Also be sure not to bleach your hair with boxed dyes unless your hair is already a shade of blonde or light brown. Otherwise the results will be disastrous.

@EvangelineDeer All toner does is reduce the brassy orange and yellow tones from hair. It doesnt dye your hair white. So you need to bleach your hair first up to at most the yellow stage and then use the toner to removes the yellow tones. This toner is also very good for your hair because it acts a s a conditioner also.

it helps also if you are dying your hair blue because bleaching sometimes makes it yellow and the blue will turn out green/blue + yellow = green and that would suck

Uhm, @MightyB00shFan123 was right...It's not a toner. It's hair dye. I've been using Manic Panic for YEARS and they don't make toner. They make hair dye and bleach. Next time don't go correcting people with false information. The label on the jar says semi-permanent hair dye. And you can leave it on for hours... I've done it.

@sk8rblonde041298 Yes it will work to a certain extent. Try leaving it on for 45 min and then check if its working if it needs aittle more time try to leave it on for about 10 more min and then wash it out .. it should remove most or some of your yellow tone out .. hope this helped

This is a good choice for a toner since it doesn't use any peroxide. It conditions your hair after ALL the bleaching most people have to do.

Another good product which tones down brassiness and yellowing is Shimmer Lights Shampoo by Clairol. You get a lot more for your money than the Manic Panic. It also smells really good and you just read the directions and use it regularly in the shower.
