  • is the new Lion fag?!?!? OMFG they just ruined another amazing cartoon =\

  • I kind of like the 80's version better because of his hair.

  • The 1980's version is definitely better in the way of being made for little kids and setting good moral values and life lessons but for anime qualities, watch the remake. i personally prefer the old series. and FYI to those who said both series were animes, they aren't. The original series was made here in America with some help from Japanese influence but the remake was only animated in Japan with the concept being born here. That's like saying Avatar is an anime when it's only drawn in Korea.

  • @TygrasKittenKori It has the anime style. the animation (anime means animation in japanese) are in both series made in japan.

  • @TygrasKittenKori The 80's cartoon itself is fully American in all other aspects, but because of it's animation being handled by Japanese studios (Pacific Animation Corporation) it classifies it as anime. Just like the intro to 80's TMNT, it's all anime style. In fact, a lot of 80's cartoon animation was outsourced in Japan. Just look for the animation cliches.

  • 1985: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    2011: Miau!

  • I like both. I never watched the shows though. >.<

  • I'm 12, and the '85 one owns. They made him sound too gruffy in the 2011 version and the anime look takes the childlike feel out of it :(

  • only reason i dont watch the new one is cause i dont watch TV anymore, looks good tho

  • lol the 80s versions rips apart ( utterly and completely) the crappy 2011 anime version.

  • @Shimmerman1 The old version is also "anime"

  • @MrSiesses lol thundercats definitely is not a "ANIME" m8. It's a cartoon made for western audience with western drawing style and voices etc.The new version is anime in that it'sblatent funsub material with huge amounts of asian influence (especially in the drawing style). .

  • @Shimmerman1 Both the old and the new series is made by japanese people, animated in Japan. You even said it looks like an anime. Also no need to discuss this. They choose Studio4 cause they wanted it to look like a japanese show, AKA ANIME.

  • @MrSiesses doesn't matter who animated the origianl. It's not a anime, it doesn't share anywhere close to the same themes and design as a japanese animation.

  • @Shimmerman1

have u actually ever seen old anime? its nothing like the way they draw it now

  • Cartoons in the 80's are... LEGEND

  • cant beat the original.

  • ITS FUNNY HOW THEY CAN DO THE SAME THING BUT GET IT SO WRONG!

    1985 FTW!

    =)

  • BOTH, for fucks sake!!! but i kind of like the new one better. i grew up with the original.

  • sound quality is better, the animation is sharper an overall everything still is as its supposed to be... then again i am a big anime buff so im bias... oh yeah but to all you complaining about the heads... you ever just think the original series heads were too small on the bodies? i mean the way i see it the anime's head is more in proportion and the cartoons is outta whack cuz of all the hair...

  • The 80's version no questions asked.

  • I like em both. Problem?

  • @TalesofGirl4ever Not at all. Your the best liking both of them.

  • 1985!!

  • What makes me happiest is how faithful the new version of this sequence is to the original. I'm a sucker for a good throwback, and this qualifies.

  • @JexsamX I totally agree. I don't see why people are complaining, this is pretty damn good. The creators of the new Thundercats obviously were huge fans because they didn't change a single god damn thing. Only difference I really noticed is the acting, which (let's face it) could use a little rewriting.

  • fuck with the whole 80s version is better thing.

the 80s thundercats was indeed a good cartoon of that time, compared to other cartoons like Transformers, it had better writing.

But this new thundercats looks equally awesome. Writing seems to be a huge improvement, and without the limitations and laws of the past, this cartoon can push their writing even further.

  • 1985 WINS!!!!!

  • 1985 com certeza!

  • 2011 version:

    Thunder, thunder, thunder, thundercats, HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    *Goes super saiyan*

  • they're both good?

  • Com certeza o de 85' U.u

  • Loved 80s version. Much better

  • Man the original sucks! The animation and voice acting is so tacky! The new one is way better, with better animation and sound effects.

  • @TheFLAMEXD ignoring the fact that the thundercats now look like children on steroids.

  • @spacecoke Huh?

  • Thundaer Cats, Ho. I like Thunder Cats I miss the original team of Thunder Cats.

  • I love em both, The old is that bit of nostalgia that'll never go out of style with it's own uniqueness to keep me enthralled. While the 2011 is an awesome update to the orginal, I also love the conflicts and emotions that go on in the new one. Both of them like I said are classics in my book.

  • 2011

  • DA FAQ is the 2011 shit???? 1985 version rules!

  • 1985 all characters are buff, 2011 characters are skinny and scrawney

  • Daaaamn... Thundercats turned into Shitty Anime... My Childhood is ruined by the Fucking Japanese... Fucking Teenagers...

  • @hitmanwolf Have you seen it. Much better than the original

  • @hitmanwolf Shut up

  • i love them both to be honest

  • I love the original. LOVE IT. But honestly, I think they did an amazing job with the new series. I can't wait for more. And I think the 2011 sequence here is badass, definitely on par with '85.

  • @CountNadir You said the old show was "generally" better which you also did not state were your opinion but your typing it as fact. Just stop pestering my channel and my videos with those comments and let ALL Thundercats fans be here and not only the OS.

  • @MrSiesses i aint stopping anyone from commenting here and if my comments bother you maybe you should disable them. you need to get a life instead of monitoring how people make comments on YT...

  • @MrSiesses PS-since my comments bother you you should check others claiming the 80s version is better and it sounds nothing like opinion

  • With this show, along with GI Joe Renegades; brings a much needed level of depth and nuance that the original classics just lacked. Now, don't get me wrong, I may only be twenty three, but I grew up watching and loving the reruns of the old shows; Thundercats, the Herculoids, He-Man, Space Ghost, ect... Granted they were all great shows in their own right, they were about a deep as a sidewalk puddle on a hot day. Animation and storytelling changes over time, and this one did it just right.

  • I was playing with my plastic light up Sword of Omens when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. Now that my friends, is old school.

  • I say both verisons are totally awsome!

  • I gota go with 1985 but I still like the new version

  • the only thing i dont like about the new series is that they made mumra very......how shall i put this...hmm stargate like. Also everybody i dont know why the fuck you are all bitching about the animation style both series were done by a japanese anime studio.

  • @januslucifer2 Seeing as Stargate is my Star-Trek (for reasons I won't get into I'm excluding SGU from the list), I have to ask: what do you mean by that statement? I just can't draw a comparison between the two unless you're talking about the Anubis arch of SG1's storyline.

  • 1985 was, is and will be the best 4 ever and ever

  • I like both! The new one retains the feel of the old thundercats, along with better direction: and the new one really gets the feeling across.

I still watch the old one. It's funny seeing Lion-O narrates his own pain.

  • The new one is awesome tbh, but it will never beat the 1985 one, i wasn't even born when it came out, but i remember the first time they re-ran it in the 90's i watched every single episode and it made my childhood :)

  • the 2011 version is sooooo anime...that sucks :(

  • @oxid71 same as the original at that time.

  • @MrSiesses no

  • @oxid71 Have you seen this one. It's better in story and really badass

  • @MrSiesses actualy the original thundercats was nothing like todays japaneese anime (which its obvious he meant), it was typical western style animation like ulysees and he-man, they did not have faces of 10 year old children and their head sise was in proportion to ther body for an adult, now they are like children on steroids which is typical of todays japaneese anime.

  • @spacecoke kid were you even around then? back then, the original thundercats got flak for looking too japanese. guess why? IT WAS ANIMATED BY A JAPANESE STUDIO. Guess what? The new one is ANIMATED BY A JAPANESE STUDIO. the original thundercats was also, comparably japanese. anime didnt look like it does today in the 80s. it looked similar to the original thundercats. watch hokuto no ken or armored troopers votoms.

  • @spacecoke Wth are you talking about? You saying the new show they have bigger heads then on their bodies? I've never said the original is like todays anime. Only that both Thundercats series IS anime by the sense they are made by a japanese studio and i dont wanna explain to you how the word "anime" works.

  • @spacecoke hey, they look pretty proportionate to me. the old thundercats had muscles everywhere, which is kinda odd to me. both thundercats rocked, 'nuff said.

  • As someone who grew up watching this in 1985, I've got to say, the new series is MUCH better.

  • I still prefer the 1985 version. That's the one I watched on tv xP

  • 2011's better!

  • Lion-O'S Dadin the 2011 version was Lion-O in the old one ^.^

  • 80s version is always better cuz the 80s were made of awesome.

  • @sortedevaras You don't know how much i love that comment.

  • 1985>2011

  • i like the old ones!

  • to me it doesnt matter wich one is better i love both ways

  • Noooooooooooooo way, 1985 is the first and better version, and should be the only, this one should be all-burned down, come on and fucking Warner Bros. release the soundtrack out once and for all , I swear i´ll buy the original one not downlaoding

  • @brovaco How is the new show bad? It's very good. I also want the soundtrack from the original series.

  • @brovaco the new one is not half bad. mind you the old one is still really good i mean come on its the thundercats how could you make it bad?

  • @brovaco the new show has better animation but the original had better storyline and better character personality

  • @CountNadir i would say the new one has a FAR better storyline. For god sake just think about how the show starts and how we know they got to third earth. Beats the hell out of the original.

  • The new Lion-O's 'Thunder' chant is deplorably weak and lacking in the voice, pitch and intensity needed to convey this message:

    My cat penis is tiny!

    But it's OK..

Because my F***ING MAGIC SWORD IS F****ING MEGAA HUUUGE

    And it's magic

We can infer from new LionO's "Lion-O: The Toddler Years" fan boy-esque hair-cut that he is indeed most likely a fan-boy, vainly labouring to be the real Lion-O.

    In summary,

    The remake gets loyalty points.

But it's 80's Thunder Cat's For The Nostalgia Win.

  • lol 2011 sucks, hollywooded version with theme park kids color.

  • @SairaBX

To corroborate your comment: new TC = gay. That melodramatic music in it is uber gay.

Old TC = poweful and adult (particularly because they used older people who were basses and baritones - hell, even Chitara was a low alto - DAMN I'D SMOOVE DAT GIRL) although, in practice, Old TC turned out to be pretty gay at times. But the animation still holds up.

  • @SairaBX How am i a jerk? The thing you typed just made no sense xD He's SHOUTING the thunder chant, rather then the one from the intro which is kinda lame voice wise. Thought that's not what is compared in this video.

  • mil veces mejor la de 1985

  • la mejor intro es la del año 85 logicamente la serie es unica vivan los thundercats for ever

  • Only dislike, is voice acting, I dont feel it as good and strong and secure as the old ones.

  • @Qushcatlan Agreed.

  • i will say this that thundercats from the 80 are and still is good but i also think its great that they have made a new version of thundercats to that stands on it own two feets. and both versions are made from Japanese animators and they are the best

  • @82winx Original Thundercats was made by an American company in fact it was the same one that does almost every Christmas special.

  • @allhailfrieza

True the orginal Thundercats where made by amricans but When you look at the end credits of each episode

you will find that in animation it was done by japanese. the same goes for Silver Hawkes ,Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors

... American and japanese working togheter to make awsome seriesin the 80's

and if you dont belive me look at voltron its was first made in Japan and was called Golion the Americans liked so the adopeted the Sereis and named it Voltron.

  • @allhailfrieza The animation was done in Japan.

  • The japanese knew why thundercats are so awesome and they put this awesomeness into a new light which i really like it . i hope japan make a biker mice from mars anime which looks, feels and sounds like the 90s one . i know japan can do it and give me my childhood back which i lost by the bad TV-enetrtaiment .

  • @Snyperwolf91 Japanese studio did the animation and directing for the 1980's version too.

  • 2011:

    better graphics quality

    1985:

    better style

    better music

better kinda storyline during the intro

    Fact: The 80ies rulez!

  • @veSjoH103 I dont agree the storyline is better. The new one actually has a story which the old one.. Kind of did not have. In the background yes, but most episodes stood by their own.

  • @MrSiesses sorry but I agree with him he also forgot another thing 1985 had BETTER voice actors too.

  • @MidShipCivic Wrong. lol. Im sorry but the new one has the better story

  • @MrSiesses How the hell does the old one not a have a storyline? Their home became unstable and the people had to flee to recolonize, the main cast happened on to land on a habitable planet to try and rebuild and find others, till thundara was reborn and they went back home to rebuild, and find all the people who were scatter over the galaxy, hell the creator, kept going and even had more graphic novels later after the anime ended, about lion-o leaving and coming back years later.

  • amazing show, the only show on cn that doesn't suck donkey dick. bring back toonami and stick this show in it.

  • Mummra's Voice sucks In 2011 Version The old 1 is vastly superior To those of you who make Reboot of things Remake the bad stuff Leave the good stuff alone

  • from my perspective,if you wanna watch and ENJOY the 2011 reboot, you need to throw away any reference to the old ones

  • @innovatorization they canceled the 2011 one ):

  • @thegamemaster5500 They did not cancel the 2011 one.

  • @thegamemaster5500 where on earth do you heard that??dont go around spreading rumours

  • Both versions are good. I'm a fan of the original but I'm happy to be able to say I feel they did a good job with the new version too. This allows for more generations to have some familiarity with Thundercats. Both are awesome in their own right.

  • @carm8421 Very well put. I completely agree. They did a phenomenal job re-imagining the whole thing while still incorporating some of the old.

  • @Izzymon81 No... no they didn't

  • I never liked the 80's/90's version but the 2011 series is one of my favorite shows of all time.

They took everything that bugged me about the original and fixed it.

Let's just say until 2011 I was not a fan of Thundercats

  • @KeybladePrime u must not have a good child hood cuse the 80's is the shit this 2011 has nuttin on the old school THUNDERCATS..HOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • @KeybladePrime Whiiiiiich was what exactly?, because I can say they did the exact opposite in my thoughts, they took everything cool about the original and mutilated it into this gay crap. OMFG YOU KILLED MY FATHER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, very very generic.....

  • new one is too anime-ish

  • 1985 show is the superior one

  • Thunder,Thunder,Thunder, THUNDERCATS LOLLLLLLL

  • I'll always be a diehard fan of the original, but I have to admit that the remake is just as good.

  • Its early days yet...but so far the new one is better...the old one was good back in its day but looks dated now..i mean those costumes and hairstyles...eighties is eighties...great era for sure...but time to move on...

  • @deepblue2778 oh yeah, as if LIONS and other CATS were changing their hairstyles.... either you are one of todays gay teens, or you just don't get it.

cartoon cats, especially a friggin LION should have a fcuking MANE! also, their hairstyle and clothing is not in any way shape or form to present earth's styles, after all, they are from another galaxy.

i absolutely loathe the 2011 version. they made a weak-ass, melodramatic telenovela out of the real THUNDERCATS, like twilight with cats. :(

  • 80's RULES

  • I like the 80s one better

  • @bigdaddyscooby I dont understand why they make remakes. Why cant they make sequels?

  • Seen the new one afew times now and it's definately no way near as good as the old one the characters just look weird I wish they would of kept them looking the same! Even tho the graphics are

Much better I can't help thinking the old seems better than the new maybe because I'm an 80s kid!!!!!

  • @Sutsi83 SO you dont think that in the old series they did look wierd? Oh my..

  • i like the old thundercats, 'twas most powerfull

  • both installments were done by japanese animators so its all good to me

  • 80s intro is better >.>

  • @razoremblem The new one does not even have a intro so why say it's better? T_T

  • @MrSiesses oh it does... its just that short...

  • @MrSiesses

Because it is better, intro or not Lino from the 80's just had a more epic look apart from the speedos.

I like the new show though I just think they didn't get some things quite right character wise but the story and mythology is better.

    Bring back Liono's epic hair!

  • @MrJoystickid Not only that, but what is this modern day crap where nobody, but 10-15 year old can be the main hero, they are neither cool nor mature enough for such a role, thank god for one piece only main character under 17 (which is now 20+ due to time skip) in that show is Tony Chopper, and in a sense that is really only mentally.

  • @MrSiesses because it has a more uplifting themetune and not the run of the mill over dramatic dark crap we get now

  • @jmm1233 I dont understand what you are answering to but what ever.

  • 2011

  • the original

  • the old one was better a little bit

  • I don't care which is "better".

    It's the fucking Thundercats chant.

  • @PaperRayman It's not a question of who's better but just which one is your favorite.

  • To make it fair, I closed my eyes and listened to the audio, and instead listened to the audio. The remake sounded better, but what else do you expect from a remake 3 decades after the original? Love the new version though.

  • I think it's unfair to compare them cause they are two different styles from two different times. The 80s was campy, but that's how all cartoons were back then and that was alright. We enjoyed them. Today, everyone has this "dark tone" to them. Ever since The Dark Knight movie came out, everything was trying to copy that dark, gritty tone. Even the cartoons. I like em both, but the old one is what I call "Vintage." What you lacked in effects and surround sound, you made in the heart of the show.

  • @JamesSCassidy While having the dark tone is alright now, imagine 20 years down the road when our kids see the newer 2011 Thundercats and say "Wow, that was crap. The effects are so old." (Always remember that scene in Back to the Future part 2 with the kids and the arcade machine.) So appreciate the old and the new because without the old, you would not have the new. Besides, the newer movements are exactly the same and it is still awesome now as it was back then.

  • WOW The new is crap

  • 2011 kicks 1985's ass the dubing back then was poooooooooooooor

  • there is no comparison 2011 version is absolute carcass thats why its on channel 5 80s cartoons were class thundercats, he-man, jayce and the wheeled warriors, dog tanian, even a cheeky bit of ducktales and the old gummie bears you could go on all day, the only decent modern cartoon is spongebob terrorising squidward

  • New one gave me chills. But if the original was backgrounded by the the same orchestra that did Avatar: the last Airbender it would've given me chills too.

  • 1985 is the wins

  • I say the 2011 version wins through sheer epicness.

  • @e9zipy I don't understand this. "You can't compare TV shows that are 3 decades apart"? Why? Seems like a non-sequitor to me

  • I can appreciate the 2011 version, but it doesn't live up to the 1985 version. Sorry.

  • 2011 looks better but 1985 sounds betters and it has music to it. and i like 1985 lion o's VA instead.

  • I like the 1985 thundercats better because I use to watch thundetcats when I was a little kid. The new one sucks so bad.

  • @MrStevenTallarico Have you actually tried the new show?

  • 1985: Classic, but cheesy and wooden by today's standards.

2011: Powerful and raw emotion, and terrific effects.

    2011 wins.

  • @MrImastinker *sigh* I watched an episode of the new "Thundercats", and I can honestly say that you wouldn't know raw emotion if it broke down and cried on your shoulder.

  • @SexedUpAtheist Can't you at least tell us what is so bad about this one? Watching the old one today is not as fun as it used to be. I'd rather watch the new one these days.

  • @SexedUpAtheist Oh, the whole episode definitely had it's problems I was just talking about this particular scene, and how it compared to the other version of the scene.

  • Comment removed

  • they both are great shows

and the guy that did batman beyond does liono's voice

  • @blades0805 Yeh I can hear that now you pointed it out. The phrase "you took my father's life" sound's very much like the tomorrow knight.

  • @blades0805

Also, the original Lion-o did the voice for King Claudis.

And Lion-o's new voice actor did quite a lot of stuff, for example the main character in Rogue Galaxy.

  • @blades0805 You mean the voice of Terry?

  • @Lionx yes

and the orginal lion o did his father claudous

  • 2011 give me goosebumps everytime.

  • The fact that the 2011 version imitates the '85 version means '85 is the clear winner. Nothing can beat the original - it stirs up too many great memories and emotions for anyone who watched it as a kid back in the day. The fact the new version seems faithful to the original is great though, and I will look out for it on TV.

  • i'm sorry but after growing up on the original the opening theme and the way the original lion-o did things etc still gives me a buzz after all these years.. my argument is that i find (and i say this about movies too) a lot of "computer wizardry"is taking away the imagination and creativity from the art form and will never surpass the original.... so 80's cartoons FOREVER!! \\m//

  • Old thundercats I got borned of it but the new one was good

  • I actually like the new one better... 2011 for the win

  • Brad pitt is Lion-o and vin dieses is panther-o

  • @anusheya1984 Absolutely incorrect. Will Friedle is Lion-o, Kevin Michael Richardson is Panthro. :)

  • @Catula2 no i'm talking about incoming movie that is going to be played in theathers on summer 2012 it coming soon.Lion-o is Bradd pitt and vindeisel is panthero

  • @anusheya1984 I do not think that movie is legit. I think it's been a wild rumor for the last few years, but I have yet to see any approved, legit trailers or even any promotion for the film. Besides, WB is currently producing the animated series, so it really wouldn't make sense to have a live-action movie adaptation come out at the same time.

  • @Catula2 Thundercat's Movie Coming 2012 featuring Brad Pitt, Vin Diesel
