I've got a lot of limestone bluffs on my land. I want to build a bomb shelter there. Is there any way of finding out what kind of rock formations or caves might lie beneath my land?
The US Geological Service would be a good place to start. Clay is fairly stable unless it's marbled so be real carefull making a cave since the roof could just drop on you.
Mine being under the house already has the bottom garage concretes floor as a ceiling and I reinforce the walls as I move along.
Dang let a hillside get the best of you, lots of kids here dig into the sides of quarries and a few days later they dry out and cave in.
Yeah, I've got a pretty good size hill on my land. There's about 12" of good black top soil, then you hit mud clay and then you hit really hard clay. I will need a backhoe to get this job done. I tried digging by hand, but even with help, the job was bigger than the two of us.
wow that is awsome. Are you thinking of moving any wires or furniture down there? Lol maybe add some nice sheetrock walls and power outlets? :D Also for a concerning note how has the levels of Radon been down their, have you encountered any yet?
I crushed my head a while back got gangrene and tore myself up in general plus was struck by lightning got hypothermia bit by a rattl snake and a bunch of other stuff all through the years.
Most of my hits come from my journal plus Im Not Dead Yet....
i need to keep digging hahahaha thats some funny shit right there and you did one hell of a job on the cave man

Yeah she isn't doing very well.
I made the house above extra stout so I'd never need to evacuate her during a hurricane and we sleep through topical storms without hearing a sound.
The bunker let's me be home but stay busy working on something.

Isn't there a guy over there in the UK that dug so much under his house that the road around it began to sink and they made him stop?
The Mole Man of Hackney?

is there a vent to let out the smoke?
enterthafatass 3 years ago
Yeah that's all built at the bottom of a shaft in a crawlspace under my house and smoke rises up it.
I do actually have two vents plumbed in there just for fresh air if I fill it full of people during a hurricane...
Normally I wouldn't have a fire anyways though, I was just kidding around.
