Would like to know why Recount lags my computer and most of my guild as well. My set up:
WoW 64-bit
Asus P5N-D Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz
G.Skill DDR2 800Mhz 8GB total RAM - Dual Channel Support
2x EVGA GTX 560 SC Ti - SLI Enabled
Did fresh WoW install twice. Ran only Recount and went to several places with tons of things going on at once - Yor'sahj, Ultraxion and Madness - and still lagged.
If you have an answer to this then please reply. Currently, I am running Skada.
Honestly, I wish blizzard would do away with meters. Ever since someone came up with it, I've seen way too many good players bottom out because they are focused on a window with numbers in it. If used correctly sure, it's a great tool. You can see what you are and aren't doing. But if used incorrectly, you'll be watching that window instead of the fire you're standing in(insert any other noob moment here).
Why am I watching a video of a addon ive had forever? Because I can :3! And its a awesome one. Back in the day damage meter helped me inc my dps by looking over at other rogues dps and seeing what they were doing right and I was doing wrong. <3 dps meter ^_^
Throughout the presentation you had the single most abused and least valuable window displayed, the dps window. As this video is targeting new users please advise them to look to the damage done table. This is a much more useful tool for determining your participation level in the fight and will not misrepresent huge damage bursts followed by inactivity like the dps meter will.
All the time it seems recount gives out wrong information in regards to dps. On Aly yesterday (and I've done this once before) our new tank was saying he did 100k dps and I didn't think that sounded right, and another skada user also had him at about 60k dps at the end (what mine said as well). I then asked the recount user how much damage he did, and then divided that by the numbers of seconds the encounter was, and it was almost exactly what skada recorded, recount was almost twice as much.
main reason why I prefer Skada over recount is resources. Recount was fine for me in 10 man raids. Then I moved to 25 man raid and suffered disconnects during big AoE packs or big AoE heals. Took me some time to realize it was recount. Skada works like charm even in AoE heavy fights. Plus has mulriple windows, including threat meter. THough, Recount offers better graphs and break up data. Also shows higher DPS :p
@HARV3YHAN5RA Yep Skada can do that for you. I actually used Skada for a long while and liked it, however I do prefer Recount's death log and Skada hasn't been playing nice with ElvUI lately.
These videos are slightly pointless, You are picking addons that 99% of the people who play wow already have and know how to use. This is because addons like recount are simple. Tutorials on them arn't needed. It would be better if you were to do tutorials on addons like KG panels, and background art which isnt all that simple.
@SleekProductions1 : did you even listened to the begining of the video?? "If you are a new player in a dungeon bla bla bla" .... new player.... The new players are targeted to this videos. If you don't like it you have an "x" on the top right corner (windows, linux) or a red dot in the top left corner (mac users). Click it.
@blez88 Anybody who is watching L2R is probably here for raid boss guides, many of use who are here for heroic videos. I doubt that they have many new players watching, to be honest.
@Nucleariasi Most people barely know how to use recount for more than DPS and HPS, and don't actually scratch the surface of all that recount makes available (who does what to what, for example).
People in BH often fail to realize I can prove to the entire raid that they did not, in fact, dps the eyes and instead tunnel visioned the boss like a fucking moron.
@Nucleariasi Every level of player is welcome at Learn2Raid. Trust me, not everyone knows what Recount is. You gotta start somewhere! Don't worry, addon coverage will be very diverse and as mentioned in the video, you can always suggest an addon to cover next.

@megalo The modifier is not N it is number pad but she most likely has a Razer Naga which buttons use N as the modifier

@Brewhahh sometimes recount has a bug that doubles the dps, if you want the most accurate dps or dmg done you have to do world of logs

For those that mentioned that the death log from recount being better than skada I say to you use neither. Acheron is unrivaled in death logs.

For starters I recommend "Instigator" that announces you who broke a crowd control.
"Misspelled" watches your chat, flagging missplled words, and offering correctly spelled suggestions.
"Obituary" that notifies you of party/raid member deaths, who killed them, and how.
"TipTac" Highly Customizable Tool tip.
Apart from Misspelled the rest are lightweight, and are easy to configure. A small cluster of addons here and there should help towards diversity
