Sweet. We don't have too many fireflies down here in Florida, sometimes you can see them on the major rivers and waterways, but not like you guys in the midwest. Great vid, can't believe you got hassled by the YT police over this, geez.
To be quite honest, my friend, you could be a very awesome film-maker. Really! You may be just an average Joe in your eyes, but in your heart, Jeff, you are a true artist. I really hope you make more of these videos. This is the creative side of you I enjoy seeing very much, as well as your zany, funny 'schticks' :)
Ever since I was a kid it's been a dream of mine to see real fireflies. Maybe it's one of those things that is really much cooler in your imagination then in reality, but your video fed that fire tonight.
I have a seperate unit DVD burner that I have wired to an old VHS tape player to burn the DVDs. I use the "DVD Decrypter" to rip the DVD to my hard drive and then I use 'Cyberlink Power Director" to edit the files into time manageable clips. I then transfer the clips over to WMM and work my magic.
Here in Florida.....something killed off most of the firefly species in the early 80's----they think it might have been a fungus------I believe it is something manmade!---enjoyed that Carl!
That is so freaky! There is an area on our land that has so many fireflys (end of June I think) that it's like watching an incredible light show. I just might have to film it this year to outdo you, not that I could, but what the heck. I know AZ wouldn't do anything like that, he's too busy filming imaginary zebras :)

I remember catching fireflies in a jar as a kid. I never did catch that elusive snipe though. Cool footage.

You are getting to be quite the cinematographer, Squigg. That and characters... would you consider showbiz as a vocation, given a chance?

I was just acknowledging it wasn't just old footage... truth be known I was plum out of witty remarks. My neurons were resting.
BTW WMM must die... just an opinion.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
More Old footage on the way...I finally have gotten around to putting all of my old VHS tapes onto DVD.
I LOVE WMM....it suits me fine, I don't use alot of effects anyway....which means I have to have GOOD material! HAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

D'oh... "you cut me to the quick".
Name that movie quote.
After they are on DVD what do you use to get them on the hard drive?
bowlingballout 3 years ago
Do a Google search for "DVD Decrypter"
SquiggMonster 3 years ago
I got one once, it just seemed like it sucked. My son is in the DVD business and he never hooked me up with a preferred software name.
If you would recommend the software you're using, I'd be glad to check it out.

Last question for awhile... sounds like what I did. Is it just a long process? It took hours to decrypt 1 DVD before I gave up.
bowlingballout 3 years ago
Are you kidding me? The DVD Decrypter I have takes only a few minutes, usually less than five.
Do you want me to send you the version I have?
SquiggMonster 3 years ago
Sure... That would be cool.

Yes I did....but after about the third time of recording onto them, they picture starts to pixelate.
