I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but in case someone isn't sure, the song at the beginning is known by one of (or maybe all three?) names: Doherty's Reel/Down the Broom/The Honeymoon Reel :)
great tune...great singing from Luke at the end....those years...why do you have to listen to lady gaga today?????.....so sad....up the Dubs....love you Ireland....
I love this piece by John Sheahan and came across it on TV a few months ago. It is my ambition to play it myself on the tin whistle! What a performer he is!!!. And of course, we can't forget out dear Luke who I never tire of listening to! He must have been pretty near the end of his life when this was recorded. My God. What a loss to the world!
Welcome back Kelly. You're great. Don't know where you find them! That was lovely. Loved Luke's little "jig". Keep em coming - if there's any left that you haven't posted!! Well, well, done. What would we do without you!!!
And to think that, after more than 30 years, he's still as good a player....I hope I'm in such a shape after the next 30. Thanks Kell!! Great to see you and Lukey again :-)
Only you, Kelly, could treat us to such a captivating and enthralling performance from John and of course, the incorrigble Luke!! Many, many thanks! :o)
Just what I needed after a perfectly rotten last few days, a new Kelly O'Neill vid with the wonderful Luke Kelly and Barney and John and Jim....thank you!!
God Bless you boys
!!

The fist part of that piece from John Sheahan is called "The Wise Maid" made famous by Joe Cooley. Check him out on You Tube.

Lukes voice seems a bit funny here, not his best performance
