Kamehameha is not the Harvard of all schools in Hawai'i, but it's certainly one of the better private institutions. My brother is a student there. The school is probably one of the most multi-cultural schools in the country. Are you aware of the struggles that the Native Hawaiians have dealt with in the past?What about the Native Americans? Should they not have their land or preserve their language and culture? Of course they do..as do the Native Hawaiians.

Fact is, if they have enough space in their classrooms, then a potential student could be accepted even though they aren't of Hawaiian ancestry. The school is just so full and the waiting list is endless. My brother was on the list for 3 years before he was finally accepted and he's almost 50% Hawaiian Native. =)

Also, the Kamehameha Schools and Hawaiian Homelands....they're pretty much all the Native Hawaiians have left as far as land and legacy. I don't believe either should be taken away from them (us). To qualify for Hawaiian Homelands, you must have a minimum amt of Native blood...Kamehameha Schools only ask that you are of Native descent.

Japan had treaties with the Kingdom of Hawai`i and was a friendly nation. In Word War 2 (I'm guessing that this is what you are basing it on) the United States navy fleet was based in Pearl Harbor in the territory of Hawai`i (which was taken over by the U.S. before Word War 2 had happened). Japan bombed Pearl Harbor only so that the U.S. would have no navy fleet to stop them from transporting their oil. They had no intention of taking over Hawai`i.

You need a history lesson, the Japanese was going to take over during the bombing, but they didn't send transport ships incase they were spotted, so they planned on invading after the attack on Midway, but that failed, so they scrapped the idea of invading Hawaii.

I go to school in Hawai'i and have learned about World War II over and over again with a focus on what happened at Pearl Harbor. Hawai'i was still a territory at the time, and the U.S. Naval command was based in Pearl Harbor. If the Japanese could eliminate the threat of the American base in Pearl Harbor, they would have nothing to worry about while they transport oil back to Japan from the South Pacific. That was the plan.

Not quiet. The Japanese had no interest in Hawaii until the the early part of the 20th century. The attack on Peral Harbour took place some 80 years after annexation. The MYTH of Japanese imperialism in the 1880's and 1890's was an excuse to cover the ploting of certain business interests who wanted annexation of the independent nation of Hawaii in order to protect those interest.
