The box placement is definitely different. I certainly don't remember the stack of boxes on top of the TNT at 0:52. But more importantly, the second segment of the level where the Yellow Gem would normally lead to is gone! I know that you can actually cheat your way past that in the final game by carefully jumping on the very edges of the goal.

@JoesGaming Yeah, you can jump on the very edge of the goal and you don't need the Yellow Gem to do it. It's demonstrated in the tool assisted speed run. It's tricky to do, but I've replicated it.

It's bizarre that they bothered having passwords at all in a PS1 era game. I feel like they were planning on ditching the passwords until they realized they already had the system in place, so instead they just made save points activate after you get gems and bonus rounds. It would explain why you can't save after a bonus round or get gems.

@samuraikarasu i thought they put up passwords becasue ppl were to poor to have memory cards, or it was an alternative to having one. Thats the only solution that makes sense.
