  • This movie had a great plot, and amazing character development.

  • Way to turn 7 pages into approximately 2 hours...

  • The plot of this film is a mix between Dagon & Shadow Over Innsmouth. A highly enjoyable film for Lovecraft fans.

  • @tarikay93

it was one of the better adaptations. This and Nyarlathotep starring Dean Stockwell.

  • Cthulhu's chick?

  • very creepy movie

  • I was just listening to the book on BBC Radio 4 extra..cool

  • For everyone who expects good horror movie- dnt watch this shit. Gore has nothing to do with horror.

  • Very interesting plot!

  • Is that Innsmouth?

  • @Uachintom Probably. Judging by the fact that this is called Dagon, and was inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, I would say yes, it is Innsmouth.

  • This was a great film, bad acting aside, it was really faithful to Lovecraft.

  • Too bad the movie is bad. Nut the game is awesome

  • One thing I don't get about this Dagon-movie and couple of other ones with names related to Cthulhu, are these freaking misleading titles. Technically all of these movies tell about Innsmouth, so connection is sort of understandable, but in that case why the hell fool audience by naming them after characters of Cthulhu or Dagon, with which movies have little to nothing to do with?

If you want to make movie about Innsmouth, then name that movie so people can tell its about freaking Innsmouth!

  • @Tranguillita The universe of HP Lovecraft is based on time paradox'es, delusions and missleadings. I believe that it's up to the reader to decide what is what- Sorta like the 40K universe. Also, i think that all of the stories are in the same universe, as suggested by Call Of Cthulu.

  • Massively underrated film.

  • in the original version any spanish people not understand english.

in the spanish version the people understand but any people not know what the problem.

in the latina version the people not understand the mexican accent.

  • @alainhung1 I don't get your point. It was produced in Spain and half of the actors are spanish, the original version is in Spanish as well... Sorry but I still don't get it

  • @alainhung1 iz there an original version of the movie Dagon?

  • @cyberrouge2 the Heroes speak english in the fiction

  • "I gotta get a bigger cell phone!!"

    best line in the movie

  • so thats where they got the Idea for the game "call of cthuhlu"

  • @LoboFan1000

    Wikipedia HP Lovecraft.

  • this was the dumbest movie ever. the fish people were fucking creepy that was about all it had going for it.

  • illuminati all over this

  • I want to FUCK that fish woman!!

  • One of the worst movies stored in my memory.

It was pointless, and worst of all, all of his friends died

and he didn't not revenge, nooo!

Instead he became a fish too, and joined them in a swim

    under their god's tentacle, dagon.

    Many deaths for nothin.

In my opinion, the movie should be rebooted.

  • @TheOmegaRing cheers for fucking ruining it arse wipe

  • @TheOmegaRing

The movie as a subtle sense of humor that your brain do not reach.

    It´s a fuckin' GORE masterpiece.

  • @yourskull you're right, you need a huge sense of stupid humor

to like this movie, but gory or not, every movie needs a certain lvl, and that movie has no level at all.

  • @TheOmegaRing

    You've gotta be trolling.

No one with access to a computer could be as retarded as you paint yourself.

    Nice try.

  • @mrfudgeyhead I can't be more retarted than you, who liked the movie,

and i don't think i'm saying anything crazy, the movie is bad indeed.

  • @TheOmegaRing Wow, you are a real fucking pussy. it's based on Lovecraft's writings after all, it's supposed to have no happy ending.

  • @TheOmegaRing Unhappy endings > happy endings.

  • Lolz Dagon is my name

  • @dagons2000 Yeah and apparently you're 11. Congrats.

  • @DirEnGay im 10 im going to turn 11 on the 23rd

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

  • @themanclaw2 And hopefully he'll stay that way for a looooong time.

  • oooookaaaaaay, I am officially NEVER watching any movie about mermaids EVER again. @_@

  • They put this movie on the netflix instant queue just the other day, I haven't seen it in so long.

  • Hmmmm..just too damn bad that youtube took this movie down cause a user violation of copyrights and all.

just wish could see this movie again..it's still good horror movie.

  • @wildmann23 It's on Netflix. I've always been interested in it, but for some reason the rating suggestion is 2.5 stars. Typically I overlook these movies due to the ratings - as Netflix movies are total crap anyway - but after seeing this trailer and realizing it's H.P. Lovecraft... I HAVE to see it! Doesn't look that bad at all, anyway!

  • @NerdRage209 it's really pretty nuts...

  • Hmm. The book was about four pages long and didn't involve any of that. The narrator escaped a prizon ship and searched days for land. One day he awoke and discovered that the seafloor had risen. He walked along creeped out about the dead fish and notices a giant rock engraved with signs of fish people. Then he sees Dagon, the mighty fish god. Then he gets back to the U.S. and writes a suicide letter only to be interrupted by something. Oh, and he says he knows the end is near. :/

  • Its a good flick with a little bad cgi but some great gore. Check it out.

  • they rolled to many 100's, impossible to get worst

  • The majority of this is completely irrelevant to the actual short story.

  • @8MattJ8 I'm not the only one who read it! Seriously, I bought the completed works of Lovecraft. The movie is trash. It had nothing to do with Dagon at all. BTW, Nyarlathotep(the movie is on youtube;it's fifteen minutes long)

did a very good job of representing the story.

  • they need to make a movie for at the mountains of madness it shall be magnificent

  • @MAGGOTSOlDIER626 You know this is being made right now? by del toro and james cameron at the mountains of madness 3D!!

  • One of the best movie adaptations by Loecraft still not the best but this is basicly how long can you go by lovecraft movie adaptations because his stories are really meant to read and leave everything to imagination.

  • Haha, this movies so awesome. It was so interesting watching the guy with the glasses walk around that one house all crazy and confused. My brother whose 10 years older than me was watching this and chuckling at how he just starts acting all crazy.

  • the skin pulling scene made me sick for days

  • One of the better lovecraft movies for sure.

  • this is the most trashy movie i've ever seen.

  • How come the Cthulhu movie and Dagon movie were both based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth instead of their namesakes?

  • UNDERATED FILM!

  • fuck yeah i'm gonna watch this tomorrow!

  • ending is also pretty awesome in my opinion

  • @ffinfinity1 I totally agree, i didn´t suspect anything, and as we say in spain: "muy mal rollo..."

  • there is a game like that actually, its called Call of Cthulhu, which is what this movie is based off of, Cthulhu Mythos. Your basically Hunted down and you almost NEVER have down time, your basically always in danger just like the guy in this movie. I loved the game and movie so much :P

  • @ffinfinity1 yea there basically the same exact thing. both super badass

  • this is such a sick movie, definitely the best i've seen on sci-fi. not to mention it would make a pretty cool video game with the whole theme of being hunted down haha

  • @durkadurka91 there is a game - Call of Cthulhu. its very good.

  • @sl2mmer really? hmm i may have to check that out..thanks!

  • @sl2mmer yeah playing that game gave me this awesome image of 3 ancient gods of the universe, but these shitty (looking) movies of lovecraft kinda kill that image

  • fucking great movie!

  • I totally missed this when it played on Sci-Fi! Totally miffed. I guess since I haven't gotten to 'Shadow Over Innsmouth' yet it's ok though...

  • Was anyone else reminded of Resident Evil 4 by this movie?

  • @mutantgorillaface Because RE got the idea of Las Plagas from HP Lovecraft

  • it sucked so much

  • I remember seeing this and thinking "A decent Sci-fi Channel movie"; Then realizing that's only because one of the greatest horror authors inspired Dagon. So I have to thank this film for introducing me to HP Lovecraft.

  • not at all like the story

  • This looks a little like The Shadow Over Innsmouth- except with more gore. Still, Fishmen! Sort of.

  • @Sarasirk531 That's because it is Shadow Over Innsmouth LOL, I dunno why they named it after one of HP Lovecraft's other stories LOL

  • hello

  • "Dagon" These are terrible european spanish horrors, with effect "presence of spectator at film events".

I tell terrible horrors as there are horrors not terrible, terrible horrors - units. Horrors are meant = mystical horrors. Not mystical horrors do not frighten, this version of horrors, tries to make effect refined torture of a victim and severe murder, but these horrors never will be terrible, how many they would not try

  • @Russianitro what the hell are you trying to say?I don't get you at all

  • That slogan at the start and the beginning reminds me of the time Mr. Burns ran for mayor on that S2 Simpsons episode.

  • i didnt even know this movie exist put personly i dont understand why they would make a movie on how awsome i am

  • I love the scene when he flips out and starts stabbing and burning those fish people.

  • OMFG!!!

I've been looking for this movie for so long!

I loved it so much when it was on the Sci-Fi channel!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • Not high art.

    But very entertaining movie!

  • uhh wasnt dagon about just one guy trapped on an island, this looks more like shadow over innsmouth...

  • LOL, it came out in 2001 not 2009

  • Say this on Sci-Fi and it turned out to be actually a really good movie, so people go watch it.

  • y'know it doesnt look that bad. i might give it a try

  • Imposible, el cuento de Dagón no posee más de 10 páginas, y la temática es muy distimta. ¿Cómo pueden citar a H.P Lovecraft para hacer un fime así? Mucho gore y poco ambiente, lo siento.

    Saludos, from Chile! : )

  • this movie is one of the best movies i've ever seen.. NOT

  • What a ridiculous comment

  • Call of cathulu: deep corners of the earth, Dagon... seems connected... like the ''Deep Ones''... Innsmouth... the refrences, connections. SOMEONE RESEARCH THIS! CUZ IM BORED!

  • @ingarsss

H.P Lovecraft wrote most of the Cthulhu mythos.

  • God Uxia was so pretty. Can't blame Paul for dreaming about her. Even if the lady parts are a bit.... slimy..

  • this movie is bloody funny ROFLMAO!

  • I am 14 and I suddenly remember this movie from my childhood, but forgot the name, so I googled "Horror Movie of Cannibalistic Fish" and I came out with Dagon, which so happens to be the movie I was searching for!

  • H.P. Lovecraft was behind this story and he's the one who created the Necronomicon

  • twas a very good book to =) ive read the simon version a couple times. the movie was just wierd! the first half was ok though. anybody played the pc game? i wonder if thats any good.

  • I've seen this movie 4 or 5 times now. I really like it. and i kinda dont know why lol. maybe its the mythology? or the town drunk? the hot princess? the eerie looking town? the main theme song? or maybe its all of those things combined.

  • Nice!

  • Truly excellent an homage to HP Lovecraft! A must-see! ~ (•8-D

  • Very good movie. The princess looks slightly like me and christina ricci

  • i remember seeing this movie on tv a few years back and it is really well done. But I never got to watch the ending of it though, but i'mma watch it now, thanks for the trailer.

  • I haven't seen this movie in a good while. Was really great. If anyone gets a chance, I recommend watching The Call of Cthulhu as well.

  • I fucking love this movie.

  • This is what got me about the movie... it kept reminding me of Metallica's The Thing That Should Not Be. "Hybrid children watch the sea... pray for Father roaming free... Out from ruins once possessed... Fallen city, living death!"

  • That song is based on H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos, and this movie in turn is based on one of his novels, The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

  • First! Being a geek is awesome :D

and second, this movie looks awesome :D

  • stuart gordon is pretty awesome.

  • What's wrong with your head? He's just a normal guy with glasses. If those glasses catch your brain offguard, making them think he's a geek.. than that's your fault for being 10 years old or living in 1950.

  • Well, since this IS a movie, there's nothing wrong with assuming he might be a geek. In modern movies and literature glasses are often used to symbolize intelligence or "geekness"

  • @expoonation to be fair hes obsesed with his laptop to the point that he dosn't want to be off it even on a pleasure cruse thats pritty geeky

  • @expoonation Who cares? Sounds like you're addressing a dumbass? Glasses are just like shoes, or a hat, anyone who bashes someone for glasses is beyond help. Oh loved the movie by the way...

  • @expoonation In the movie the main character was presented as a geek and a city boy. I saw it when i was watching a lot of Spanish horror movies and it was one of the first one I had seen which was about the cthulhu myth. All the acting was great, the scenery was great, the couple in danger was lovable and the danger they faced was solid. I don't expect movies to be exact copies from the stories they originate and this one succeed in been true to the myth and entertaining at the same time.

  • @station10444 Not really. It wasn't good and didn't represent the book at all. It had nothing to do with any of this movie. Dagon was just there. He didn't do anything. The fish people weren't involved except on a big rock.

  • @TheNightsMoon The summary of the story that you did "If accurate" shows that the producers of the movie only used the name. But i don't really care about that. For me Dagon still is a scary and entertaining movie based on the cthulhu myth.
