Thrilled to find this on Youtube. Thanks so much for posting it. I first read the book, at the age of 10 in 1960 - a birthday gift from my father, who, ironically, shot geese and ducks in winter. He was also a pilot in the RAF in WW2 but was not at Dunkirk. I cried my young heart out at the time. And this is going to make me cry when I finish watching, I know.
A very big thnak you for submitting this video of the Snow Goose. I have been searching for it, for years. Jenny Agutter doesn't have a copy and Hallmark are refusing to release it for sale, for some obscure reason. Do you have access to a DVD or VCR tape which I could buy of you? Again, many thanks
Paul Gallico is one of my favorite writers, and Richard Harris absolutely my favorite actor of all time. It's wonderful to know that this film holds a special place in the heart of so many other people too. Thank you so much for posting it. As long as it is here, I'll make it a new tradition to watch it every year - maybe at the Thanksgiving holiday, as it has all things to be thankful for... grace...beauty...courage -- timeless values, a perfect film.
First heard the Snow Goose when I was about 10yrs old at my Grandmothers on 78rpm vinyl records. Has stayed with me for 57 years , truly wonderful story.

Ooh, knew this was going to be good as soon as Richard Harris' name was shown in the credits. Thank you so much. I've eread the book, heard the music (Camel), but never had a chance to see the movie until now.
Thank you so much for putting this up. I passed this on to my Dad for his 50th Birthday, he hadn't seen it since he was a kid and always spoke nastolgically about it,and how he couldn't find it since. Made his day to watch it again finally.
I was 8 years old when this was broadcast. I cried my eyes out at the end when Jenny Agutter makes the lonely climb to the top of the lookout and sees the goose fly by....her friend Phillip destroyed by war. It's still a haunting memory.
You better run before big Richie Harris kicks your fat arses! Marvellous movie. Harris was a giant amongst men, hard living, hard drinking, lived life to the full and died roaring. This sporting Life is still his masterpiece, although The Field comes close. Jenny Agutter was every 70's school boys wet dream. Ahh they don't make them like this anymore and that's for sure.
Harris, wonderful actor and personality! Bette Davis remarks in the Cavett interview upon this performance and how remarkable it was. AND IT STILL IS!

You deserve a Noble Prize for putting this movie up.
I first saw it back in 1982 on PBS.
I cried for a week.
I went in search for it on video, then dvd. It is unavailable; and that is a crime.
Finally, after almost 30 years I can see it again.
I did not think it would effect me as much since I have seen it already.
Boy was I wrong! I cried so much I created a puddle in my bedroom.
This is my favorite film.

a beautiful adaptation of the book. a sensitive, deeply moving story of personal triumph and sadness, and overcoming longing, loneliness and despair.

I love the book., Perhaps my favourite short story of all time. Gallico was a genius writer.
