DC-10, a magnificent aircraft! its very true that biman's management sucks but the pilots of biman are very good. you can hardly feel the landing shock if you are inside any of biman's a/c.

Biman needs to purchase some Boeing 747's, thats the gold standard for international flights. Don't care for DC-10 or Airbus. If Biman fired 10,000 employees who has no purpose, may be the will be able to afford to buy atleast 10 of them.

This type of airplane had serious problems with a luggage door at the beginning of commercial service . But now everything seems to be OK and these planes don´t have more problems than other airliners of other manufacturers. On the other hand I would rather prefer another airline to Binam on my way to Asia :-)

@WorldAirwaysMD11 Didn't there used2 be a massive problem with the doors on these aircraft? The locking mechanism didn't used 2 lock the door properly during flight. the latch inside the door never used to grip the rasp properly and when the cabin gets pressurised the doors used 2 fly open during flight and crash. It happened a couple of times and it very nearly put the DC-10 out of it's life.

People don't realize the DC-10 has a record as of a 747. Both planes were built a long time ago and were VERY large at their time. Boeing and McDonnel Douglass had to develop things that were never built before. They wouldn't know exactly how the systems would work unlike nowadays. If these planes were build today, they would have nearly a perfect safety record. I mean, look at the 777!

there were two pretty early accidents, both related to the cargo door coming undone at around 10000 feet. They did erase that problem but McDonnell Douglas were bought out by Boeing. And with the revolution of twin engine planes becoming as safe and fast as 3 or even 4, why would you bother paying to fuel 3?

Airframe holes, but that was only a few times, covered in a bit of speed tape! Other defects were various but allowable!
