Thanks JFDhater for the ID of that first A/C clip as a RA-5c Vigilante, it looked familar to me. I saw a A3J Vigilante do a simulated nuke delivery and a hi speed (sonic) pass over the USS Independence back in '62 and was literally "blown away".

@vigibill for information, that is an RA5C Vigilatante prior to the forward wing re-fab. In a later incarnation, the leading edge tappered all the way to the front edge of the intake. I was in RVAH-14 out of Albany GA in 1973 and stationed CV62, USS Inddependance.

wish there was good footage of the Navy RA-5c Vigilante (first jet in the clip) doing high speed passes. too bad they got withdrawn in 1979. and btw....uberteknik...speed of sound is 762.8 mph at SEA LEVEL at 5 deg C. temp and alt affect the speed at which sound travels. the colder it is, the slower sound travels, but at altitude, the faster it moves.
