@wideawake123 - Piracy is no doubt a HUGE problem. While there is no excuse for piracy, there are reasons behind it. Foreign vessels have been poaching off the Somali coast since 1991. The rape of Somalia's seas by Asian & EU fishing vessels has nearly depleted the fish population, depriving the Somali's of their ability to earn a living, in some cases feed themselves.

The reason they dont fish is because there are few fish to catch. Each year $300M in fish are poached by foreign corporations.

I'm well aware of the history here and am also aware that no Less than 20% of their take goes directly to Islamic Jihad. The "booty" is divided between the pirates, their village headman, and whcihever Islamic group they are affiliated with. I also understand Why the shipping Cos. pay ransoms. They pay $5 Million to get a ship and cargo worth $100 million or more back. I have ceased caring about Jihadi's "reason" in any way.
