Russia in January already unloaded in Syria missiles S-300 and other weapons. Now a group of Iranian warships came out on to the Mediterranean sea and will be included in Syria that would share their missiles. Iran frees Syria nuclear warheads designed in North Korea and biological weapons, and Syria plunge on the Iranian warships of the Russian antiaircraft set of S-300. Afoot serious battle. Iran and Syria are trying to reinsure themselves to the maximum. The end of the world is near.

"jealous", yeah not likely. The Russian fleet been in a dilapidated state since the end of the Cold War with most of its ships confined to port. More recently they have finally secured some more funding however. Although Russia is often a pain to deal with, there is no reason why many of our strategic initiatives cannot be aligned. We would all rather have Russia as a friend than a constant nuisance.

@Flamorgan Eurofighter Typhoon is much more capable than the ageing Su-33s. Tornado is a strategic strike aircraft equipped with all sorts of air-ground munitions. In this scenario it would equip its self with long-range anti-ship missiles or long-range cruise missiles and wait until the RAFs Typhoons obliterated the Russian Su-33s.

Interesting that we would send a destroyer with no surface-to-surface missiles to shadow a surface warship. What would it do? Ping it with 4.5 inch shells to make the Russians angry? The RN of 2020 will, indeed, be formidable with the new carriers and the entire complement of Astute SSNs and Type 45s. Given the reduced number of surface warships in the RN, they are all likely to be called upon for varied roles. We should start by fitting Harpoons, Tomahawks and torpedoes to the Type 45s.

@Bowman899 The destroyers sea dart missiles have an anti ship capability. Also, the RN regularly deploys SSNs of Scotland into the North sea and maintains a submarine base in Scotland, so my guess was an SSN was there too.

Typhoon is far more capable than the handful of ageing Russian Su-33s on-board that Carrier and Tornado is equipped with long-range cruise missiles and anti ship missiles. Plus we have almost 100 typhoons in service and 136 Torndaos, allot more than 16? less capable Su-33s...

"Voenno-Morskoy Flot" has an active aircraft carrier & we don't, it has the Kirov Battlecruiser, we don't have anything similar, It will be getting more funding, ours is cutback, Russian Subs are better than the RN's & in some cases the USN's. The Kilo to Oscar II class attack, The Delta to Typhoon & Borei class boomers.

well, if they want to be techinical, the russian fleet has only a handful of modern ship ( the ones of scotland are probably the best example) the rest of the fleet is mainly rusty, old soviet ships. certainly a typical russian quantity of quality naval approach. the opposite to the british quality of quantity.

Russian navy is made to destroy aircraft carrier groups... Read something about missile cruisers/destroyers. They called "aircraft carrier killers" not just because of someone's fantasy. And that ships is a basis of our fleet. So... Your navy us against AK-47. Our navy is against aircraft carriers. Peace!

Even with the recent defense cuts the MOD's budget is twice that of the Russian militarys and our ships actually sail more than once every few years, the Kuznetsov has only deployed 5 times since 1991, now thats the real joke!!!!

@alynukemall Yeah our carrier was nearly 30 years old, flying planes from the 70's and haven't been used as a fully functional carrier (Invincible class carrier in general here) since 2000, and before that 1982... The idea of an aircraft carrier is if you don't have an airbase you can use an aircraft carrier. Our modern RAF planes the Tornado & Eurofighter (one of the most technologically advanced jets in the world) can never be launched from our carrier which are far superior than the harrier.
