I just don't get it. The extravagance of showing off to the world your place with new structures celebrating life itself and progress, revisit decades later to see really, in fact "WE DON'T CARE". It's disgraceful, and renders positive declarations of the World's Fair moot.
I wish the map would have been covered back in 1993 when I was painting the walls with the stripes just like the World's Fair. The map was still in great condition.
Thanks for posting. I visited this site in 2009 and 2010. There is something entrancing even today about the N.Y. State Pavilion. I didn't get inside, but you can look in through a locked gate. I hope they can do some restoration before it is lost. I have fond memories of the fair.
@westport17782010 It really is... but thankfully the city deemed it as official NYS landmark, and wont be going anywhere unless some kind of natural disaster happens.

Friends of mine have gotten grants from the park to paint the exterior walls. If you have noticed the walls of red and white stripes look alot more clear now.
Amazing video, I wish I could go in and take just one step, one moment to take it all in...looks like a mystical ruin tho it was created but 5 decades ago
@FLPanthersandMarlins I know, its an amazing place, this was my first time in there after countless years just wondering how it is to be inside it. On some very select days, you might get lucky and find the gate open.
Snuck onto the #7 train to visit Flushing Meadow Park with a few friends when I was 8. That was back in 75' and the pavillion was falling apart then, but the floor map was mostly intact. it is a shame. How I wanted to go up in the cool elevators every time my father drove past them on the LIE. It could have been made into a huge ice rink.
@Edbo I have to disagree with you on that, many people don't find it as an eyesore, they consider it to be a monument that has withstood time. It is a great example of history and it can be a magical place for memories for some of the older people.
Awesome music ,awesome video, you really out did yourself.I hope there really is a plan to restore the place or else it was a bad move taking down the elevators. They really looked perfect where they were.
@im202020 actually it was volunteer work for the parks dept. And i only got involved because I happend to be passing the NYSP one day and saw them working in there and I went and asked someone about it and they told me to come back next week to volunteer. I'll try to find out if anything else is going on.

@sanfrancisco89 during the early 2000's the city had plans to turn it into an air and space museum, obviously that would have never worked :P

The City should tear this eyesore down...it will never be utilized. Its just rusting away.
