  • holyyy fuck, i can't believe you can get that much light at 1/2000, thats amazing

  • what is ''no gain'' ?

  • @Alexi123skate google it up, but basically its like iso on a dslr, more gain= more light = better lowlight performance, at the price of noise in your video

  • Very useful, thank you.

  • @1650million No problem

  • how the heck do you change the f-stop on this camera?

  • @EffectsDriver Switch the camera to manual, then push in on the iris roller on the side of the camera. Then, just roll up or down to adjust the f-stop

  • 1/30 no gain was beautiful

  • hey i have a question, i use final cut express, and when i use log and transfer to take my avchd clips and put them in my project. I use a panasonic AG-HMC40. When ever i shoot something in 720px60p the program shuts down . I have no idea why. Please help!

  • @JZproductionJZ Are you importing them straight from the camera or doing it separately?

  • Now THAT is how you post a test video

    Thank you.

  • It's not over cranked...I use 60p when shooting anything that I might slow down in post. I shoot mainly action stuff...check out UTV Report's channel on here for some action footage using this camera.

  • Is 60p overcranked or do you slow it down in post? I've never understood the whole 720p at 60p

Oh and thanks for taking the time to make these tests!

  • Is 60p overcranked or do you slow it down in post? I've never understood the whole 720p at 60p

  • I have been enjoying your test vids and incorporating your experiences into my own "intuitive" skill-set, with this cam ... BUT ... it seems that, other than the Dune Busting video, you are not (yet) producing "engaging content" or "telling us a story", of some sort. - - - - Now that you have a good feel for it (The "40"), lets see some worthy communication (just a challenge). - - - - Did you ever read the "pan-speed" section (with tables), of "The HMC Book" ??

    ... KILLER BOOK !!!

  • Thanks so much for posting. Just the test I was looking for.

  • Do you think this camera would survive moderate to heavy rain by any chance?

  • @ngaiox No, I wouldn't recommend any camera to be used in the rain. Buy a cover for that type of use.

  • Where do you setup the speed of the camera for slow motion videos?

  • @bonchevip I used Adobe Premier CS4 to slow or speed up my footage.

  • are u shooting hd man what are the setting or how do you set hd on this camera?

  • Thanks again for posting. You are making my decision to make the HMC40 my next camera an easy one.

  • Glad I can help...

  • have you had any problems with your camera..

  • What I didn't realize when shooting this is this was shot at 24db gain. Actually all the videos that I manually adjusted the iris was shot at 24db gain. I think the camera does a great job. I played a non-hd feed via component out to my little tv, and it looks great.

  • Thanks for making these comparisons. I'm deciding between the HMC40 and 150 and would like better low-light performance than my Sony HDR-SR11.

After making all these tests, do you have a good feeling about the camera in general, as well as the low-light abilities?
