  • i bought the remixes of this on 12 vinyl when it came out then it burned in a house fire. :(

nice to hear this searing track again!

  • @dknytodd That sucks! I still have the Situation2 Way2tite remix. I love that track. The good thing is that you can download it.

  • this was great then and even better now!!!

  • very dark, minimal and sublime. just like the early 90's were...

  • I want this cd and two others that I am missing of her's. Hard to find, can anyone help?

  • I love this song and, in fact, the album. (I still have it on tape.) The bass line is hot and the whole vibe used to take me....

  • this was my song

  • Joi is a remarkable artist.

  • S T U N N I N G

  • CLASSIC.... This song was way before it's time.

  • Everyone on here can find this song easily by going to f-i-l-e-s-t-u-b-e. c -o-m just type in the pendulum vibe, which is the album this song is on and you can find every song on that album including this incredible song. The one i chose was on rapid share and it was a rar file :)

Hope this helps anyone who wants this song and other ones by Joi :)

    Happy Holidays everyone!

  • It looks like either Lionel C. Martin or Billy Woodruff directed this.. It has their look to it!! Soft lighting!! Just my 2 cents!!

  • @DRESthaBeatnik Actually, it was a director from seattle that directed it..We shot it in the dessert in seattle

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I have tried to find this as long as I can remember. When asking friends no one heard of it. Drove me crazy. Thought I was the only person that heard the damn song!! Will be subscribing to your channel !!

  • Man...I was looking through my cd collection cause I thought I had two of Joi's albums only to find out I just had one. When I searched her I discovered I have alwys owned only one, but come to find out she actually has 4 albums. WOW! Her style is bangin!!!! I thought Erykah Badu and Jill Scott were the first two female vocalist with this style. Little did I know.

  • I intend to catch up on what i've missed. Erylah Badu was my first female vocalist I fell in love with over this style. She will ALWAYS hold that spot in my heart............! However, now that I got the history on Joi and seeing how the music industry did her no justice She will be added to my Fav. Five list fo sho!!!!! I understand there is a 12" maxi single for the song "Sunshine and the Rain." I gotta cop that cause this is one tight baseline, hard groovin' track!!!!

  • @no1badufan I agree with you, especially on the bassline !

  • soul meets grunge meets funk...the beat is ill.

  • mega talent...sorry kelis

  • mega talent...sorry kelis

  • OMFG!! I love this song dog! I can not find it ANYWHERE!! The summer of 1994 was the 1st time i heard it! Damn, we used to smoke out to this and Outkast! LOL!

  • Is she still with the dude from Goodie Mob?

  • This was Joi's first album. She is the bomb and one of the most fan friendly artists I have ever met. She lives here in Atlanta and she does shows around town. If you don't have her last CD, Tennessee Slim is the Bomb, get it, it is the ish!

  • Yay! I found it ! I discovered this on a compilation CD and it got scratched up during my last move. I got the CD in a Borders bargain bin and Amoeba in Hollywood doesn't have ANYTHING by her.

Unless you listen to Garth Trinidad, L.A. does not get down like this :(

  • I bought it overseas as an import, had it stolen as an import than got it for free through the BMG Music Cd club in LA! I love this album. Joi is a modern funk diva and stays on the iPod.

  • been looking for this song for so long!!! (love "missing you" too), but this is da bomb song!

  • Kinda goes along with that 90's r&b hip hop vibe that i miss like krazy!!

  • @horus1971

I still got the cassette of the THE PENDULUM VIBE from back in the day---this is one of my favorite songs off it besides "Freedom". Was just listening to this the other day---I would love to get more stuff by her. I never understood why she didn't blow up----apparently the music business didn't know how to fit her into a marketable catagory, because she really didn't get the big push she should have, particularly after "Freedom" was remade for the PANTHER soundtrack. Where is she?

  • Does Anybody Know Where I Can Get This Song???

  • The CD is out of print, so you might have to do some serious digging

  • Found copies on Amazon under 10 bucks today "The Pendulum Vibe" is the name of the Album

  • So glad I found this finally! I had the yellow cassette also...so timeless, thanks:)

  • Joi is in ATL and hosts an open mic event. She also has an album called "Tennessee Slim Is The Bomb" She does a lot of studio background work and live background for a lot of artists as well.

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!This is the birth of neo-soul right here There was a woman named kenya who used to live arround the corner from me in west philly, looked like joi, and Joi was is BAD. This brings back memories I here this in the middle of the night when it's T-storming thanks Future

  • i use to love this song. i had the clear yellow casette. does she still make music?

  • In 2000, Joi joined Raphael Saadiq's group, Lucy Pearl, replacing Dawn Robinson (formerly of En Vogue). A follow-up album is scheduled for late 2009 this is CLARLY DALLAS best production to date to me because it set a trend that others would follow later-says..uzipolo-king of decatur

  • Mmmm...that is one sexy woman!

  • I love Joi she is the greatest!!! I dont know why her music doesn't get much radio play. She is awesome. What you get on the record is exactly what you get with her LIVE...I think it's even better. No comparison to any other artist.

  • Pendulum Vibe Is one of my all time favorite albums...

  • Does anyone know the name of the album this song is from?

  • The Pendulum Vibe.

  • SUnshine and the Rain is the song title, the album: is The Pendulum Vibe

  • I saw her in Lennox Mall with her daughter about ten years ago, and I didn't have the nerve to approach her and say what I huge fan I was. Still love this song. When I was in high school I got good at ab crunches to this. Thanks for finally posting. I also found "Ghetto Superstar" if anyone else is looking for it.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this video. I own all four of Joi albums. Buying the unreleased one from the Queen herself. I remember this video andhave the album even drove to ATL from Philly to see her perform.

  • Wow. iactually have this single!

  • I do remember her but very vaguely. I do know that Joi's first album was the inspiration for Madonna Bedtime Stories. The song is great!

  • I love Joi's "Lick"! You should do a video! From what I know, Joi & Erykah Badu are best friends. She was one of the first to introduce the neo soul when I was like 5 years old, I remember this video but it was spun rarely.

  • I remember when I first discovered Joi, she performed on Soul Train back in the mid or early 90's and I have never forgotten about her, that performance made me a fan. Can anyone find that segment of her on Soul Train.

  • Not really sure, but if you do, please let us know. I'm sure JOI would love to get her hands on that as well. Thanks for commenting, and stay tuned!!!

  • "I'm feelin that pressure" The lyrics are the truth for real.

  • One of my favorite songs/videos! Joi went places musically that most of her fellow artist are STILL trying to catch up with!

  • Just wait until we shoot the movie...she'll far surpass even her own talents! Stay tuned, and spread the word about our channel!!

  • DAMNNNN. I was 19 when this song came out. I heard it back in 1993. I was driving a gold 1987 Pontiac 6000. I would pump this joint like crazy. Damn GOOD POST. THANK YOU

  • You said '93...so we know you WERE there when Joi hit the scene! Like vintage wine, she only gets better with age...thanks for your comment, and spread the word about our channel!!

  • OMG, thanks so much for posting this. I haven't seen this video in years, this is what made be a JOI fan :)

  • Unfortunately she came out 10 years before most people could get her. I loved this song. Hell, if people want to talk about the beginnings of neo soul she did it with this song.

  • You are absolutely correct...and we're glad she's still around. Thanks for your comment, and stay tuned for more on JOI! Spread the word about our channel!!
