Jeff and Ronnie James Dio are the best singers that have ever come down the hard rock avenue. It's a shame Jeff never really hit his niche and took off the way he deserves. Jeff: I'd start with making sure none of the band members have 80's poodle hair. That look died back in the early 90s.
What Rodger us trying is not to "imitate" Freddie, like Jeff (I have nothing against him; he's a great vocalist)Rodger is just trying to work with Brian and Roger; and yes, he sang Freddie's songs too. But he's not a "substitute" he's just a Brian and Roger's friend, as they said in a interview.
It's really apples and oranges. Freddie had an amazing capacity to interpret many musical genres; JSS has the operatic and rock vocal capacity and Paul Rodgers has a more bluesy-rock voice, as has been stated.
From a place of evoking emotion, JSS brings tears and a smile, that while definitely paying homage to Freddie, brings an uniqueness to the table that's a pleasure to listen to.
Search here for "Great king rat/ Son and daughter - Opera". Very nice covers by this Chilean band. They´re not a cover band but they always include one or two Queen songs in thier shows. Enjoy!
It's good to see a real guy singing real songs with a positive attitude on the stage. You know what I mean, those new depressive bands around - lacking any substance... Thin and 80s sounding?? Is it because the gtr player is trying to mimick Brian May's out of phase pickups sound?.. When commenting beware of your references and don't be hard on yourself, just relax and enjoy the music. But this is democracy isn't it?..
Queen no longer exist with out Freddie. they are all queen, take away one and what you have is something different but most definitely not queen. paul rogers is one hell of a singer and a lot more soul full than jeff even if jeff has come a long way from his i am a viking days. Its ok jeff not your fault i know. grate version bit roppy at end but still had me blubing.what a song.
man he's got a set of pipes, fucking amazing singer, lots of emotion too. pity about the guitarists tone - really tinny and 80s sounding. the band is clearly playing to a click track which saps some of the feel from the song, but soto more than makes up for that

He is a very good singer.......But lets remember,,,dosen't have half the true talent what freddy had...He sings too deep,,,but has range.

Paul is great bluesy singer but his singing not Queens' style. Paul should stick to singing w/ Bad Co.

Nobody could sing this song but Freddie Mercury!

He's not a showman like you want him to be (like FM) but JSS is a good singer, he does justice to Freddie's songs. He sings from the heart : )
