  • You do lovely freehand work! I am really good at the baking part; the decorating part not so much :(

  • I love your cakes I wish I could do

  • Sorry that it posted twice it hadn't posted the first time lol ;)

  • Hi, I am wanting to become a professional at caking one day and wandered what cake recipe you'd recommend for the chocolate sponge...…… thanks .…,,, lily

  • Hi seriouscakes, I love caking and hope to become a pro at it...what chocolate cake recipe would you recommend?? Thanks .... Lily :)

  • how do you make some of your frosting shiny and a plain one matte? Is the shinier one much softer?

  • @iluvpenguins007 The shinier is leftovers that I defrosted from the freezer and yes, it is softer :)

  • I love the beater blade, it creams like no other! I've never had my butter and sugar so fluffy for cakes. I have this aversion to powdered sugar frosting because I find that it's grainy. Does the beater blade make it smoother? I don't want to make a batch of frosting and waste it.

  • Well, I wouldn't say smoother but maybe creamier. It definitely blends it all together better :D

  • WOW, how do you get such vibrant colours in your frosting? I find that I lose patience with it after adding so much of the gel a toothpick at a time, and as a result I use pastel colours alot. Any tips on how to colour large batches quickly and vibrantly?

  • lol-be fearless :D I normally add a heaping toothpick full if I'm going for a good dark color. For my dark reds I combine a few, like some rose, red red, and some no-taste red.

  • i love your videos, u are so funny :D

  • Wow! Those are smoother than ever!!! Nice job! I want one!!!

  • i loved paradise road!!

and while i am catching up on ur videos, i have to say, the little turkey you made, was sooo cute!! =] and i always wanted a Beater Blade like that.. =D

  • im gonna have to buy myself one of those blades!!!! i hate the scraping down and i lose some frosting by using the spatula!!!! haha

  • Just ordered the BeaterBlade! I hadn't even heard of it and thanks to your video I won't have to stop and scrape the sides of the bowl anymore. Your videos are terrific, I've learned so much from you. Thanks.

  • this is the strangest vid I've ever seen!

  • what tip did u use for the light pink flowers?

  • Probably a 103 or 104 :)

  • thanks!! :D

  • i'm sorry i don't know if i'm stupid or not but did you add flour and eggs to your frosting??? either way it looks damn good. and thanks for trying it out for your viewers :P

I feel so ungrateful, i got a red artisan stand mixer when I was 17 [two christmases ago] and I it's almost never make frosting on there becuase i hate all the scraping. i'm definitely asking "santa" for this :P

  • lol-no, the first part of the video is cake batter, after that is frosting. If you click on my name I have videos posted for both of those recipes :)

  • TOTALLY intrigued by the beater blade. I have a KitchenAid 4.5 quart tilt model stand mixer. Will it work for this one, too. I NEED one.

    Bonnie

  • I believe he told me he sells one for all models of KA :)

  • Good Morning, I got this blade after seeing your video and I used it for a cake mix it seemed to over beat it, but that was okay because it made them moist and dense. Do you find that it over mixes stuff or do you just cut the mixing time. Does it make your icing to over beaten? Thanks for your quick replys to my e-mail.

  • No, I haven't had any problems with it, but like I said in the video, I still handmix the final step for my cakes. It works great for the frosting too though, I haven't had it overmix at all :)

  • I asked the hubby to get me one for christmas hehehe. I told him I want this from santa :-)

  • lol-besides cakes I used this for cookies and brownies too-worked great!!

  • Ohhhh I can't wait, I do hope I get it :-)

  • great video!! have you tried using it to make buttercream?

  • Hmmm, I responded a few days ago but it's not showing up. I did use this for my buttercream, just after the 3 minute mark :)

  • Another BEAUTIFUL cake ... seriously!!

Thanks for showing that border I'll try that on my next cake. I've done lots of cupcakes lately, but something has happened with my camera and it won't let me download.

One Question - how do you get the red SO red?? - mine always comes out pinkish and that's using gel colour. Thanks again for posting.

  • Thanks sweetie!! For this one I used Wiltons 'no-taste red' and I use a LOT of it. Sometimes I'll combine a few different reds to get it dark, but I'll always add the no-taste so the frosting doesn't taste bitter.

  • hey, thank you for your tips. My mums birthday was a success thanx to you .

  • Awesome!! Do you have the pics posted anywhere?

  • What a show!!! You do such beautiful work Serious. The color choice was excellent, and the no name flowers were beautiful. That beater blade aint too shaby either:)Did you have to adjust your mixer to use it? Thanks for always posting such pretty cakes.

  • Thank you!! I didn't have to adjust the mixer but I will next time I use it, just to make sure it hits the right hand side a little better.

  • I always enjoy your videos. You should be getting a commission for the demo of the new beater blade. Now I am going to have to go out and buy one. :)

    Hope your day is good.

  • Long time no 'see'! How are you doing?

  • Love the design! thanks for the info about beater blade and thanks for the great demo

  • uhhh.. I got to get me one!! Thank you:)

  • Another great demo! Thanks for showing off the Beater Blade ~ Guess what I'm adding to my Christmas list!? Keep up the great work, Tracy

  • I am super impressed by all your cak decorating, infact it has made me want to decorate cakes myself! But I was wondering what are the most important tips to buy?

  • I'd say a few round tips-2, 5, and 8, some petal tips-101-104, some star tips-16 and 18, the leaf tip 352, and the cake icer tip-789. That's a good start for a beginner and you can just build from there.

  • I know these videos are all about the cakes. But, I kind of would like to see the face of the person making these edible masterpieces.

  • Ah, but a super-caker has to have a secret identity :)

  • Love your videos! :) You so inspire me! Off I go to get the Beater Blade! Thanks girl! :)

  • Sweet! :)

  • Cool vid =]

  • I was laughing when I saw ur mixer going crazy there then I read your caption saying it's sped up and it's not your mixer, LOL!

I almost bought that when I saw it at a magazine and I wasn't sure, so this is kinda cool seeing it here at work :-)

Once again I'm impressed, keep them videos coming :-)

  • Thank you, I'm definitely loving the new blade, it's so much quicker!

  • wow! love the beater! it so convenient! and the music was invigorating! lol... kinda church type. :) love the borders a lot btw! great job! love that cake!

  • Thank you!!

  • Oooooohh, I want one!

  • Wow! Makes me want a stand mixer even more...Thanks for showing your scroll/shell border =)

  • You're welcome :) And a stand mixer is sooo nice! Got a KA last year for our anniversary and love it :)

  • Thanx for the video. Great job
