  • NOOOOOOO! You ruined it!!!! just kidding, Good job...

  • Hey u deleted my comment not cool

  • i have an old ww2 ammo box should i paint it or just try to clean the rust off

  • why would you want to pant an ammo can... you are just erasing a perfectly innosent part of history

  • heh nice

  • ????? where did that hair come from i did not see it n other videos

  • I think it would have blended into its surroundings better before the paint job, just place it on the side with the yellow identifications. it also provides a cool authentic look to it and due to its non-solid color, it may have blended in abit more

  • nice paint job Head Hard Hat I found an Ammo Box I am going to paint my box to look like sage brush

  • @geomodelrailroader Excellent idea. Let me know how it turns out.

  • @headhardhat I just need to find some paint

  • @headhardhat thanks HHH I will tell you how it went when I get the paint

  • @SOFSEC1 Very good question and unfortunately I do not have a good answer. Any good paint job is best with a prepped surface and in hind sight I would suggest doing that in any case. Thanks for bringing it up!

  • muggles? :p

  • @CannibalKlok Yep Muggles, In geocaching someone once described a muggle as someone who doesn't know what geocaching is. We know it was borrowed from Harry Potter but the concept is the same. The name just stuck.

    Great question. -HHH

  • @CannibalKlok Muggles are people who do not know what geocaching is. Kind of like how they are people who do not know the world of magic in Harry Potter. The name just stuck for geocaching.

  • i Camouflage my ammo cans and there hard to see in wooded areas. good vid.

  • Excellent reason to cameo them.. It makes geocaching that much more fum. Thanks for watching. -HHH

  • can you tell me specificly what type of paint for each color, like:

    Green:Non-primer, or primer,

    Brown: Glossy

Or something like that, because i'm going to the hardware and want to know if i'm getting the right paint

    From,

    Tenorplayer

  • Sure thing. I usually use a flat outdoor primer in some form of dark green then either a textured paint very lightly painted next or some other flat combination of greens and browns to cami it up a bit.. There is no wrong way so have fun with it.

  • nice job but, what's the big deal

with all the military writing on it?

    cheaper than dirt sell them

    with it on..so i guess it's o.k. right?

  • Cool video, thanks for making it...Gary

  • Why thank you. If you have any suggestions for future videos please let me know. -HHH

  • Further tips:

Before painting clean the AMMO can to remove any oils or grease on it. Also, a quick sanding with 100 grit or so sandpaper would help the paint adhere longer.

  • Great suggestion CBR! Believe it or not that exact same suggestion also works on your plastics before you paint them as well. Including Lock 'n Lock Boxes and anything else plastic made.

  • good job!!!!!

  • Thank you, we do try and even though this is an extremely basic tutorial. Many geocachers first starting out may never have even seen an ammo box before. We hope our message of good common sense placement also gets out.
