@WhirledSol How is this a conspiracy theory? To deny major companies genetically modifying food is just willful ignorance. These things happen, and his statement, "we simply do not have the expertise to judge whether we know what we're doing or not" is very much a reality. If you wake up 15 years from now with terrible cancers cause you'd be eating pesticides, then are you going to consider this a conspiracy theory or are you going to start complaining then?
All it takes is to add one protein molecule and that is enough for our bodies to see it as not food and just pass it on as a foreign substance and not food.
Incas perfected the potato over thousands of years, but they had hundreds of varieties. The potato was introduced to Europe and eventually caught on. A population explosion occurred in Ireland from this boon but they used only one variety of potato. Eventually the blight came and wiped out the entire crop and a famine happened, millions died. It is this kind of impact that we are talking about here. Insidious corporate agenda has only money in mind, not long term environmental impacts folks : ]
actually, they didn't mention in the video that Monsanto patented genetic info spreads into the fields of farmers who don't subscribe to Monsanto's products/services.
Monsanto then sues the farmers for failing to pay the royalties, even though the farmers can't control if Monsanto seeds contaminate their fields. (stronger gene multiplies faster than weaker genes - so there's no way to 'remove' the Monsanto contamination).
and even if they can't sue, the farmer has to still buy more Roundup.
a company can be allow to make the money it wants, but NOT at the expense of individuals rights, health, and so forth. These corporations are not evil, but extremely greedy in making the most profit possible by monopolizing an entire industry, and doing it through illegal methods. Also, by wanting to reduce their costs, and increasing profit, they created GM foods that can have drastic side effects.
Pretty typical left-leaning demonetization of corporations.
Yes some corporations are undertaking illegal practices and unethical behaviours. But a company is only as powerful in the marketplace as it is able to provide value to its customers. You can't be evil and still make a profit if you follow the non-aggression principle.
the surveyers from monsanto will go into a field without permission (exclusionary rule in court) take a sample, if the crop is the patented seed owned by monsanto they will sue the farmer for whatever they want, it has happened already theres some vids here on yt about just that. what if 1 farmer uses gm crop he lives next to an organic farmer, if that gm pollen lands on the organic plants and through a few season somehow his whole crop becomes gm, again monsanto will sue & take what they want
@ik999 the video said they are already in trouble...not from any outside forces but the nature of their business.
There is too much food on the market, which decreases the prices. So farmers have to work that much harder to make ends meat.
Now from a science perspective, I agree its dangerous, or at the very least shallow, to just genetic engineer crops just to make it conveinant. Things like making chickens featherless, and having pesticides already in the vegastable.
Who is the biggest buyer of beef, pork, chicken, potatoes, lettuce tomatoes and onions on the planet? McDonald's is. The growers cater to the corporations, production, puke out as much crap as fast as you can for the kids to buy up.
It's supply and demand. The people demand crap and that's just what they're getting.
It's the same with anything. Take the biggest industry on the planet, the arms trade. People demand arms to blow each other up with so they supply them. Buy one get one free.

BS! genetical modification is the history of agriculture. now we can change our plants with a single thought in a generation instead of waiting for artificial selection to take place. i want a steak grown in a plastic bag in space for the price of a potato. GROW MY OWN FOOD??! a stupid fu#$ing hippies
not a fan of allowing any singal or kabal of corporations to have a stranglehold on the worlds food supplies. aside from the geneticly altered crops, just that much control of seed. little too NWO for me..... canada steps out of line, no wheat seed next year.....china gets lippy, no rice....too much power for corporations

Farmers have the option of using less efficient crop seeds. You have the option of using a mule and all organic methods. But unless you want to work like we did back in the 1800's and you get people willing to pay more of their income for such food, one can not make a living do so. This is much progressive bullshcatt... Like Global Warming.. lie about the facts, cover reality with lies and hope people believe it.... which many do.
@bamatecangel7 FUCK U GO DO THE RESEARCH THAN COME AND TALK YOUR BULLSHIT THESE SEEDS INFECT NORMAL ORGANIC SEEDS, THEY NEED MORE WATER, THE FARMERS BACOME DEPENDENT FOR SEEDS AND CHEMICALS, THESE FOODS CAUSE ANIMALS TO BECOME INFERTILE MANY FARMERS HAVE HAD ALL THEIR ANIMALS BECOME INFERTILE WHILE FEEDING THEM THIS GM FOODS
Well I did the research for 30+ years, lived it every day. My father farmed. His father. Grandfather. Great Grandfather. Both sides of my family buttwipe. Row crops, livestock. Water per acre or water per ton? Know the answer to that? You need an education beyond the books written by eggheads pushing an agenda. Could things be better in farming? Sure but this video suks and is short of facts.

there is not too much food. There is a shortage. They are putting a few facts together to make unfounded conclusions. Man has modified the genetic make up of everything since we stood on two feet. We made a wolf like creature more human friendly. Now hunting dogs, lapdogs. We took the best watermelon seeds to plant the next year. As we get smarter with more tools, are we not going to use them? Yes capitalism is about profit. Proven to work better than any other social economic system.

Oh lordy. Look if you want to make a video about the scientific uncertainties surrounding the health value of GM crops then by all means do so.
Just don't throw a bunch of "corporations are evil" blah blah nonsense in with it.
Any first year economics student could point out why everything stated about economic incentives in this video is wrong.
If Monsanto makes seeds which require more fertilizer, this increases total cost of ownership. Farmers aren't stupid, they run a business too.

Yeah I'm actually aware of that myth (not sure if its true or not.)
If it is true then that is certainly a behaviour I would not support. (I don't support patents and copyrights to begin with.)

Doesn't give much credit to economics mindset
when first year students are cited as knowledgeable in these things.
Raping the earth for profit makes perfect sense to stupid greedy people.
ausearthlove 2 years ago
Ah no it doesnt. Not if they have to buy and own the property they rape first.
If this were true then all land everywhere would be destroyed. Because anyone could just come rape it and make a profit.
Would you buy a $5,000,000 block of farmland and trash it? If so, tell me how that works out for you.

I just fail to see why a corporation would go through such a conspiracy.
And how exactly does said corp. enforce farmers or nature from growing the seeds them/it selves

disagree. also from farming heritage.
farmers in the 80's were warning of catastrophic crop failures b/c of so few
genetic lines, and that was before GM seeds and food.
