  • Clever pretty talented and I heard her say.. COOL..And I do love that voice....

  • hi there famous girl, I am waiting for your trip to san diego.

  • Here's a bit of trivia. Can anybody identify the make, model and year of the car the bearded dude is driving? If you answer correctly, you win a replay. Help yourself!

  • were rickie lee and tom waits an item at one time?

  • Effortless jazz vocal

  • This is a great song off a great album. Some great tunes on it.

  • I can now kill myself and be perfectly happy.

  • And I shall follow you! How I wish 'YOUNGBLOod" Still coursed thru my veins. I go where Rickie goes

  • Thanks for the post. Love RLJ!

  • Wow .. didnt Buzz Feiten , Neil Larsen , Steve Gadd and Tom Scott just make this record and all on that first album something wonderful ?

Buzz & Neil on this one are too cool for words .. lucky Ricky !

  • yeah..LUCKY Rickie...she had NOTHING to do with the success at all, it was lucky she got to work with them, HA HA HA! Can you hear the sarcasm??? They are virtually UNKNOWN and without her wouldn't have the wee bit of recognition that they do have.

  • Total nonsense .. they are all hugely respected musicians with a long history of distinguished work before and after RLJ .

She had something - for sure .

  • Weird. That is my ex-husband in that video. Not the one with the beard, the other young guy. Haven't seen him since 1989.

  • I saw her in Pittsburgh in 79. Front Row seats given to me by my boyfriends ex girlfriend. How fitting. It was amazing. She sat on the stage right in front of me and told stories and did Easy Money. Man O Man those were the days eh?

  • I keep catching my eye on that mouth of hers - very Joni Mitchell! - mix in a little Carly Simon and Laura Niro and that spooky lost highway. Top it off with patent RLJ bleary goofy synthetic rubber face-making that says "look out - i'm gonna get crazy on you" - and that's this girl's gumbo goin ON!

  • thank you, thank you, thank you

I think I'm an excellent songwriter UNTIL I listen to her voicing effortlessly and mesmerizing lyrical play. She is amazing.

    I love RLJ!!

  • classic

  • the city will make you dirty but you look alright, wow 30 years on and 2.30 in the morning this song is still tight thanx 4 putting this up lost childhood memories

  • Damn-

I can't believe I am getting so freaking old. I was a pup of 19 when she arrived on the scene. Blink you eyes and 30 years flies by.

    She was so cool

  • Driving and drinking liquor out of the bottle, that is the haps

  • Il suo canto è felice, urla, schiamazza, gesticola, sembra una ragazzaccia... scappata di casa. Grande Richie.

  • All I can think that this was a little bite at tom waits... hmmm. ace song, gotta love Rickie Lee, such an amazing voice.

  • i love rickie. she reminds me of the early laura nyro, especially this song. as for the video, gone are the days when you could swig bacardi 151 at your leisure while tooling around the town, acting like a tool, hoping some girl will latch onto your ... tool.

  • Thank you, all those who post Rickie Lee Jones. I haven't listened to her for a while, and seeing all of the video posts brought back a lifetime of memories, with RLJ music always there somewhere. No one's music makes me feel a rainbow of emotion like her.

  • I just caught her show in LA on Monday. She sounds just as great today as she did back then. A true talent.

  • I just fell in love with Rickie the very right moment I heard "Chuck E's in Love" on the radio airwaves.I just knew instantly that she'll become one of the greatest debuters singers ever...and I wasn't wrong. She won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist of 1979 and her debut album simply called "Rickie Lee Jones" has praised the most excellent critics among experts in the music business. For me that album is without a doubt one of the greatest female albums ever. A masterpiece.

  • saw her in denver 1983 . .she was soooo wasted . . but what a show ! ! GREAT LADY

  • Goodness, this song brings me back 25 years ago, walking in the rain, late at night in Los Gatos, California. Sweet memories. I love her voice, pure sweetness.

  • lol...late night me in NYC...she could've had a great career...the "next Joni Mitchell"...as I remember...

  • Wonderfull

  • The genuine article Rickie Lee Jones IS the Duchess of Coolsville and needs our support to help creating great stuff - check out her web site now!

  • What a great artist! So much fun to watch.

    Totally jazzy cool.

Wish her all the best and continued success, you all do know she needs money to keep creating?

  • one of my favorite artist!

  • she is entirely beautiful and completely unaffected. i am still stumped as to why we have a general public that wants women to be like britney, christina, jessica and paris when women can be like this! she is stupendous!

  • RLJ is like the long suffering moll that you'd expect to find hanging with the likes of Kerouac, Mickey Rourke, Tom Waits and Jeff Buckley: Holding her own, cussing like a sailor & keeping a strait razor in her purse. All the while absorbing life, stories and influences that she would use to pour into songs and verse. I've always dug her style. She's not a sex kitten or pin-up worthy, but man, her music is really heavy and so cool.

  • Rickie was the hottest woman ever born. She oozes cool

  • Oh yeahhhh! Dis is a gooood one, man!!!

    Dank youuuu!

    Sexy, sweet Rickie Leeeee!

  • Wow. I never even bothered to try imagining I could ever see the video to that one. I was way too young when that came out. I didn't even know there were music videos until about ten years later! Kinda feels like fulfilling a dream, or achieving a goal I didn't know I had...

She's the James Dean of music: effortlessly, naturally , ... she just IS cool.

  • Wow, I grew up listening to this album. Best song has to be "last dance texaco".

  • yeah....now you are talking. Excellent.

  • last chance texaco

  • Haah me too! and a dress to match. totally coolsville

  • i'm going to go out and get myself a hat like that. i am going to be the new rickie lee!!

  • this album, I think, is one of the finest EVER made....the last track, Company, gotta be the saddest most fulfilling song ever written...

  • company is the most beautiful song to date. Reminds me of lost love. She is unique.

  • I absolutely agree. "Company" makes my heart just ache...so hauntingly beautiful.

  • Stylish Ricki at her very best!!! This song just makes feel you feel good. Fell in love with her after seeing this...such a unique individual. Thanks for sharing one of the best songs ever. "here, here, looky here ya'll"

  • Once again, Thank You!! big time.
