  • Wow amazing tribute to Ray Charles, and an amazingly beautiful voice with looks to match..

  • Norahhh..... so beautiful, beautiful.

  • A truer Lady of song may never be found, she shows that all real beauty comes out from the heart. You are so right, sing on, sing on and always sing your own song.

  • Love her voice......uniquely her own, blues are her forte!!! Sing on NORA....

  • She's got class also,unlike many today.

  • 30 people fainted from the sheer amazement of this video and hit the dislike button with their faces.

  • A beautiful interpretation of this song--Norah is a supremely talented young lady. Very nice!

  • grande!!!!!!!!

  • My God.... she is SOOOOO beautiful... she is complete.... <3

  • This song is too big for Norah, sorry. Listen to Arethas version.

  • jeff buckley did the best cover of this song.

  • i've cried so much since you've been gone.....

  • This woman Norah Jones, she is one hell of a singer. She had the great opportunity of playing with one of if not the greatest blues singer in the world. He will always be sorely missed but Norah Jones is still here, so, have some respect for the woman. Amen.

  • I'd love to see a duet with Norah and Gavin Degraw

  • What an amazing rendition by norah jones!!!

  • Push those keys baby, push em with your soul

  • she sings it beautifully and she is gorgeous

  • She is absolutely great, and she does this song justice. Absolutely georgeous version.

  • FANTÁSTICA, absurdamente linda e talentosa! Que prazer te ouvir, Norah Jones! What a pleasure to hear you, Norah Jones!

  • I WANT MY JOHN JOHN FREED AT LAST

  • There is no greater compliment to an artist for other artists to believe in their music enough to pay tribute to them. It says "your music moved me enough for me to want to be able to keep it alive in my own way"

  • Ray would be ptoud

  • What is there not to adore about Norah Jones?

  • THIS IS TO YOU TO WALTER LESLIE PADBURY 3RD I MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH

  • This wasn't Ray's song. It was a song by Henry Glover. Ray covered it. Aretha owned it, in my humble opinion. Check out her version.

  • Sit back, shut up and LISTEN

  • Ray Charles would want people just appreciate his music. It doesn't matter who sings it.

  • She has THE voice!!!

  • @loveyourwhiteshoes she is THE voice.

  • Ray Charles would be HONORED to have ms NORAH sing his songs...this is her torch song.

  • So touching!!

  • Ay bro

  • Lovely Norah.......

  • 25 people cried

  • Norah eh demais!!!!!

  • Amazing talent. She will always be classic and classy.

  • Nine

  • E que letra maravilhosa! Tem muito das coisas que eu admiro em músicas: saudade, amor, deprê e um pianozinho...

  • This is a wonderful combination! Norah Jones playing Ray Charles. Perfect voice!

  • i love you norah jones

  • She hasn't quite come into the full Soul of Jazz and Blues but she's coming along. She has a unique hypnotic undercurrent in her voice. Don't give her such a rough time, she's working at it. Ravi's proud of her as he should be.

  • or maybe she's just emotionally drained, she's already cried so much and she's ready to give up...any way that is what these lyrics say...

  • ......wooowww.....

    LOVE!

  • This is SO pretty, I just love it...

  • LOVE IT!

  • Sannnngggg it girlll....CHILLSSS...YES, my LAWD...Thank you!

  • God presenting the event!

  • It is Norah, Ray, Monheit, Krall and other talent of their genres that will be remembered for their beauty and melody... not the umbrellas of Rhiana or the outfits of Gaga.

  • we should all be so lucky, to have a woman as beautiful and talented as Norah Jones, sing us a farewell song when we pass.

  • Sacriledge I know, but I prefer this renditon to Ray Charles version

  • ....I'm so blue

    Here without you....

    amazing tribute

  • Thank God!! You let me born and had a chance to see lots of talented persons, some of that is this beautiful lady... God Bless you Nora Jones...

  • everybody loves her, she's our sweet heart =)

  • I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert~ what a wonderful, beautiful and talented young woman~ she is! Thank you ~ Norah<~ I <3 U!

  • Very nice !!!

  • i drown in my own tears wenn i listen to this song

  • @Druff3l What? You're NOT dead yet?

  • IF I WOKE UP NEXT TO HER I WOULD THANK GOD. IF I THEN HEARD HER SING I KNOW I WOULD BE IN HEAVAN

  • WOW

  • She makes every song she sings look so effortless. A true talent.

  • HERMOSO!

  • vorrei essere tanto bello da poterti rubare il cuore...love!!!!

  • whiskey? anyone?!

  • Love it!! Love her!!

  • I'm convinced people dislike videos for no reason. What the hell is there to dislike about this?!

    I wish I could find those 22...

  • @eracholo17 Well, you know people don´t like to get their heart broken, and this song really breakes your heart, that could be the reason... Still I think the song and the artist don´t deserve a dislike, but whatever is not like Norah would ever feel bad if she finds out about those 28 dislikes... And I seriously dont think Ray cares about how many likes and dislikes he got in Youtube from where he´s standing...

  • @eracholo17 No need my friend. We love it that's the whole point.

  • I am in love with Norah Jones.

  • Not hatin'... anyone who can pull this tune off is ace in my book. Steve Winwood while with The Spencer Davis Group is PRIME!

  • Yea she has it all... Quincy Jones's Daughter.

  • @nixleg She is NOT the daughter of Quincy Jones!!!! Born March 30, 1979, Geethali Norah Jones Shankar is the daughter of Ravi Shankar and Sue Jones.

  • @BudmanPackfan me talkin out me arse. I apologize to anyone I've offended. I also stand corrected. "alcohol is a helluva drug!"

  • @nixleg No worries! No offense taken, I just wanted to dispell misinformation. Far too much of that out on the net.

  • @nixleg me talkin out me arse. I apologize to anyone I've offended.

  • @nixleg wrong - not his daughter

  • @TRBrownn --- So what? Her father is a great musician too. He and Ray would have agreed on Norah's talent.

  • Nossa, dá até arrepio de emoção!

  • minou sings don´t know why by norah jones

  • I would love to hear Norah Jones cover Strange Fruit.

  • Great Norah !!!!!!!

  • Uniquely talented, that god damned Shawshank master of the understatement, has done it again.

  • I love all her songs because it actually relates to my life.... :(

  • I love this norah. Not the new jazzy & bubbly one. Miss you

  • WHY DOES LOVE HURT SO MUCH , WHEN YOU TRUELY LOVE HER ...!!!!

  • I am More Th>n Freeman, Thank you for listening.

  • amazing voice...clarity of ms. jones. love it esp' when she sings country jazzy songs

  • why do kids today listen to auto-tune crap when they have this

  • @TheBlackhawk58 Because the world is a sad and vicious place and the kids are sad and vicious and "mainstream" music plays to that. If its not Ho's, gangsters, shooting, or some weird obscure political message, its bubblegum, soft porn crap or "fake" wanna be know it all crap. Most kids are just to immature or brainwashed to get Norah, and the ones that do, get hard looks. Thanks to popular critics belief, Norah is decidedly Momsy/grandmomsy

  • I imagine when she was a baby, she already cried as she was singing blues.

  • me encantaaaaaaaaaaa....si palabras ....no tengo palabras para expresar lo bello que es. ese estilo me fascina.......

  • i love you

  • She's so classy!

  • Norah Jones has real talent! Her own style! I love it!

  • Blow the man down. Wow !

  • you are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I find it a bit sad. People, sad people on here criticising. Have some respect for Norah. Heck, have some respect for the memory of the man this is in tribute to. Have some respect for Ray Charles. Ray Charles wont be upset with this, he'll be upset with you critics, criticizing a tribute to the man. Yea, Norah don't quite get the raw vibe in this song, so what, maybe she is trying to do it justice in other ways. Or maybe she is trying to do right by a man she adored and seen as a mentor.

  • @Requiemslove Tbh, this was the first time I heard this song, and I think she killed it. Can't imagine a better version really :P

  • @Requiemslove Hey!

Ray Charles is well dead and buried by now!

    He won't notice a thing.

  • @Requiemslove It is always easier to criticise something, compared to making it better, which none of the critics can. Great tribute by Norah! I miss you, Ray! Thank you for sharing, russha717 - 5*****

  • she just smoothes and soothes everything in every song. She has a mellow soul.

  • it's ok but she is nowhere close to ray charles

  • @reraom it's a TRIBUTE, not an impersonation!

  • @reraom duuuuuuuuuh

  • Wow, she is hot performing this!

  • Did Ms Joplin ever sing this song? Just can't recall......

  • @sgtdarkness1 yep just listened to it amazing

  • @sgtdarkness1 yes, she did! it's here on youtube

  • @sasababy14 Well, thank you, will check it out. Thank you.

  • fantastic!

  • @BuzzyFredrick Please don't make comments anymore... seriously!!!!

  • I think she did a pretty good job!

  • ................and this song represents the emotional pain and suffering that a man or woman feels when they're alone. I didnt pick this up in her voice, theres no controlled harshness in her voice, or any roughness which this song requires.

THATS why i pressed dislike. Please consider this people :) I'm just offering an accomplished musician's perspective, without being arrogant.

  • Très belle prestation comme d' habitude / Que du bonheur / Je suis fan ! Jeff Bibi

  • Toujours au top ! ...

  • It's actually "Drown In My Own Tears"

  • I'm the 21st person to dislike the video, my reason why is the song doesn't work with her. Im a HUGE ray and nora fan, but their styles contrast. Like when you bring 2 strong individuals together to work, they can clash. And that is what's happened here. Nora's individual style is taking over the whole tribute message. Also this is being picky but the key which she's singing i dont like, being picky :)

    RIP Ray Robinson.

  • @Slivra21 being too picky! jeez chill out

  • @Slivra21 It's good to mix different styles, it doesn't have to be identical. I didn't think they clashed at all. If she didn't add in her own style this it would have been worse.

  • @Slivra21 The key? What's wrong with the key? It's probably suitable for her vocal range. In fact, off the top of my head it sounds like the same/similar key to the original.

And Norah's done stuff like this before as well, e.g. Turn Me On.

  • @Slivra21 It's the original key actually.

  • @MDStallings7 Its a semitone up - i think, could be a whole tone. Definitely not the same key. Yes the key thing is picky, as i said in my previous comment, but its just a personal thing.

Im a very musical person myself, finished my g8 saxophone a few years ago, and Ray's + Nora's blues style really appeals to my taste. But, although this is a Beautiful, melodious, warm RENDITION of the song by Nora, thats notwithstanding, its not a very good TRIBUTE...................

  • @Slivra21 I went back and listened and you are indeed correct. It's a whole tone up. Either way I agree that, while she did a good job, it's not the best tribute nor is it my favorite of Norah's.

  • @MDStallings7 Thank you :)

  • @Slivra21 Yes well said. Sounds like a high school performance.

  • wow... fantastic.. i'm dreaming while hearing her voice, it touches my soul

  • Aww She's so Adorable <3

  • She May be the best female artist in this era

  • @Sixtiesera I don't know about artist, but I am 63 years old and she is the best female singer I have ever heard.

  • @serundipity Close Enough =]

  • Not the types of song for her. I want a hellish soul with rough raw feeling when i hear this. Ray delivered. I like to relax to Norah.

  • This version is smooth.....too smooth. Ya gotta have that dirty, gritty, bluesy voice singing this song. Just sayin.

  • The cover doesn't work without the soulful voice.

  • Pretty high class gig.

  • I grew up in San Francisco during the 60's and would catch Janice Joplin at different venues. The first time I heard Norah sing I thought of a young Janice before drugs and alcohol. She has that special soul in her music that doesn’t come about very often.

I love her voice and music.

  • WOW, what else can i say, what an amazing artist. . . .

  • MORGAN FREEMAN!!! <3

I love norah jones, she's truly an amazing artist.

  • Sorry, guys, I disagree with most of you. I think that technically speaking she was good, yet she was too contained. With a song like this, you have to let rip, man, let rip. That's why blues is such a powerful music. Don't get me wrong, she's good, although I never buy her music. I have seen her videos here on youtube and telly, but with Norah, I've always felt that she controls herself too much. And I've got the original by Charles and I just think that she didn't do the song justice enough.

  • @CubanInLondon I agree with you. It's nice what she does with this song, but it doesn't make me believe she is drowning in her tears. She's not even cried a single tear; how can she drown? I feel like she could totally do it right, though, too, which makes it almost more annoying that she does it 'too perfect' or whatever.

  • @CubanInLondon

I've always thought the same thing! When I heard Dolly Parton start singing in "Creepin In" - a duet with Norah- I was like, "Whoa! Norah finally let er rip!" But no. it was Dolly.

  • Genial!!!

  • Ray Charles was just so damn cool and stylish.

  • Way to go for a woman to fill the shoes of a song that gained notority from a man singer the late grate Ray Charles

  • She just has just a lovely soul voice like an angle beautiful XX

  • I don't believe in souls,but if i did.

She touched and filled it with grace.(:

  • I don't believe in souls,but if i did.

She touched and filled it with grace.(:

  • damn.. shes way too mean.

  • she's amazing!

  • For my money this is the greatest blues song ever written.

  • Gives me chills it's so good!!!!

  • awesome... i wish i could sing like her. :)

  • Wow... wonderful.... truly a great performance!

  • What a beauty!! This woman has it all...inside and out~~~and the talent is unbeatable. We've been blessed and some of us didn't even realize it until she opened her heart and sang. Thank you Sweet Norah! You make my heart sing!!!

  • Sweet!

  • she's real music

  • @soleilangela

    absolutely true!!!!

  • im really a big fan of her!!!! when will i see you in person?????

  • damn fine and can sing to, a keeper, hot nah *ok

  • Anyone knows how I can marry her??

  • she really brings that feeling in me, always...i hate it, cause I know it ain't happening...

  • I know it's hard,

cause for years I've been listening to all her recordings and so far...

    she's not noticed me.

  • @sparkysports - True. I leave comments on her every video on youtube. No avail. God Bless her! She is an Angel

  • You can`t, cause she is mine, hahah

  • Beatiful, beautiful..

I see her Indian features from her dad-the legend Ravi Shankar..
