  • @SandyLorence101 You should first nee to know why you are losing your hair before starting such treatment.. I suggest you should try this hair loss solution site HairLoss101. net (remove space).. you can learn a lot from there..

  • I am one month into transitioning and I am so excited!!!! We have the same hair texture and now I know my hair is going to look hot!!!

  • ohh i envy you soo much!!! i'm actually trying to get all my relaxer off my hair and i will soon be cutting them!! i only hope that they return as beautiful as yours!!

  • congrats to you!!! when I cut off my natural hair I felt so happy and I don't regrat it one bit I do regrat putting a relaxer in in the first place

  • For a very long time i've been wanting to go natural just a few days ago i have decided to do so but is afraid to cut my hair, do i really have to do the big chop in order to achieve my long time goal? Please help!

  • If you are not comfortable with short hair then I would suggest transitioning first and gradually cut off the relaxed hair. Also you can do braids, etc while it grows. Just make sure the braids are not too tight or it will pull out the hair you are trying to protect.

  • Gorgeous hair! Your hair looks much more healthier in its natural form then when you had it relaxed. Do you prefer your natural hair over your relaxed hair? I know that I do. I have been natural for about four years now. I am loving it. I did not even to a big chop! I just decided to grow my hair out. It was much easier for me to deal with emotionally LOL.

  • thanks f0r the insipirati0n..i think im ready f0r the transisti0n!

  • What brown gel did you use on 5-6-07?

  • gurl u stay on that phone lol

    ~~whit-whit~~

  • so beautiful!!! give thanks queen...

  • Thanks for the inspiration on a BAD hair day. Every since I have cut my hair off and started wearing it natural I have felt under attacked. AS if I where so much better when I walked around with relaxed hair. But thanks for reminding me I am NOT my hair.

  • I want to start becoming natural what should I do? Where you I start? I dont know a regimen I should follow cause I dont want my hair to fall out I want to do it correctly?

  • your hair looks so much better now! so all together it took you about 8 months i'm assuming? i'm on my fourth month right now and i can't wait to cut it all off i just don't want it to be too short i want it to be like your length when i do so get back to me please! :)

    peace, love and nappyness

  • Great (natural hair) video: watch?v=uOmfu2xZO1M

  • yea so i didnt watch all of it, but i thought that it was pretty stupid someone went through all that trouble to do that

  • ok...you see how you're hair pulled back in the last one?? nice and neat??

i have hair JUST LiKE YOURS. n mines will NOT cooperate for an UPDO...

ppllleeasseeee help a sista out lol

  • The only thing I can say is watch my video about how to do a pony puff my way and see if that helps.

  • Great (natural hair) video: watch?v=uOmfu2xZO1M

  • how long did u transition b4 u did the big chop

  • I love ur hair but how did u do the stocking cap weave and how long did you transition be doing the Big Chop

  • i have a question how did u make that cap ?

  • Congratulations on your natural hair, it looks amazing.

I've been natural for about 16 years but I'm on my 4th head of hair. I lost the last one due to illness, right now I'm in the process of growing it back out long.

  • Im going through transition and i do sew ins, but i was amazed with the cap that you made. How would i make one or is that a skill that takes years of practice?

  • You had a lot of growth at BC! Loved the song.

  • you know u didn't have to cut your hair i didn't bcos as the hair grows the relaxed bits break off naturally: i have had my natural hair for about 6 years now and i am still loving it :)

  • Your hair is beautiful !

  • 1st pic at 1:25 is so cute

  • Your hair is beautiful girl! God bless you!

  • I am really impressed with the new movement of young ladies wanting natural hair cause it shows black pride and represents who we our a s a people/culture. I'm inspired to stop relaxers also, because they dry out the hair. I have adecent grade so I could really stop relaxing it/been programmed by society!

  • how long did you transition for before you had the big chop?

  • So let me get this straight, your point is that your hair natural as a black female will make your natural? Well I agree I don't have what you call "nappy" hair but i am black with reall wavy hair. Recently I have gotten my hair relaxed with a gentle perm but I can't stand it sometimes. I plan on going natural this summer, but what about combing doesn't it tear nappy hair?

  • There is a way to comb natural hair with pulling it out.

  • Hey. Sorry I'm just responding. There are a few rules to follow when combing naturally kinky or extremely curly hair.

    Avoid combing hair dry.

    Always section off hair first.

Trying lightly pulling hair pout of a tangle.

Comb hair when it's saturated with conditioner.

Comb hair under running water.- The flow of the water helps a great deal.

Keeping your hair moisturized also helps unnecessary breakage or pulling.

    I hope this helps a little. :)

  • The quick and fast rules of wavy/curly hair care.

Don't overwash, once a week is enough.

Comb hair wet or moistened with a leave in conditioner.

    Use a wide tooth comb.

  • Hun congratulations. I went natural about 4 months ago and yes it is a liberating experience. I no longer feel confined to European standards of beauty. And I must admit "we" do look a lot better with natural hair than relaxed hair. It just fits us :)

  • I have to agree with you here. I think natural hair just suits us better. I am in the process of transitioning and I'm looking forward to expirimenting with my natural hair. God knew what he was doing!!

  • Exactly!! He knew exactly what he was doing. Congratulations on the decision and I wish you much success :)

  • there is something truelly liberating about going natural, especially going from relaxed hair and cutting it off, thats what I did and I feel so much free-er ive realized that my natural hair is beautiful

  • Congratulations and welcome to the family! Now that you are natural be careful about what products you use. Gel is an absolute no, no!

  • can u do a product video

  • this is inspirational

  • ur looking 10 thousands times hotter with ur natural yeah.

  • i love your hair im going natural also

  • if you c a picture everyday you will get use to it , during the 70"s black woman hair was so natural & sexy whites were copying it, When my daughter watches TV all she sees is different races of woman wearing the same bone straight hair style. she drew a picture of a black girl with straight hair. after removing the TV and letting her watch old reruns of the electric company she now draws pictures of black woman and men with Afros. images don't lie. the people who alter there images do

  • how did you make that cap? i cant braid yet and i need a way to style my hair til i can get it braided could you please email me the instructions i would appreciate it very much??? <3 love the vid it is very insprational

  • Thanks. I am going natural and this was inspiring!

  • just finding all these natural hair journals on line!this is awesome... proud of you and all those who are loving what nature has blessed us with.

    Peace,

    L

  • My hair is pin straight and boring! Black people's hair is awesome! I wish I could have an afro (or make my braided hair last more than 3 days)!! But congrats for going natural!

  • beautiful......

  • hey i just decided to go natural in oct of 07 and im scared to cut my hair off so i'm tryna grow the perm out..but i don't kno what to do to my hair or really how to take care of it being natural..my hair doesn't look the greatest right now lol..but do u have like any suggestions or anything of what i should do to take care of my hair the right way??

  • What type of pony tail thingy did you use on your last picture? (afro pony)

  • This is very nice. I am considering going natural. I'm a bit scared though. Thanks for posting.

  • thank you so much for posting this...it helps a lot...afro all the way...lol...

  • i liked the last 1 the best

  • question what kind of relaxer did you put on at firstt ? :) pleas anwer back !xxx

  • right, thats why i cant understand black ppl who think perms are better than natural hair, sure they look fine on some people, but to me it shouldnt be the standard just an option. a twa is much preferred over those forced ponytails with the kitchens in the back, ate up, broke off, bald patches etc from chemical abuse. Just go natural

  • I am so glad I saw this video because I thought that the only way to g natural was to cut all of your hair off and that wasn't happening for me,lol. Loved the vid.

  • 25buttons-I've been natural for 5 yrs!...i would never cut off ALL my hair i just keep it braided or twisted and occasionally(like once a year)i get my hair flat ironed at the shop, and if my hair looks scraggly i clip the ends MYSELF(not at the shop,my mom did that when she was younger and the woman made her almost bald!)..OH and Moisture is absolutely NECESSARY for health and growth of the hair :)

  • Congrats! For those thinking of going natural you DONT HAVE TO CUT YOUR HAIR at all!!! Simply stop relaxing it and let it grow, I've been natural for 2 yrs now my relaxer completely grew out.

  • i Completely agree thats what i just explained to 25 Buttons!

  • OMG you have so much courage...I'm going to stop getting perms from now on....but i dont know if imma go like all nature as far as the "big chop" IDK yet..but since im not getting any perms do you know any good hair care products or some nice styles and ways i can maintain my hair so it will grow???

  • the hairstyle at 1:55 was awesome!!

  • hey missjojo...when are u going to put up a new video...i wuld be so happy n i kno others will too so please when u get a chance plz show us a new vid they are very inspiring to us...

  • Beautiful...Go Drexel

  • This is absolutely beautiful! I've started my transition into natural hair but I haven't done the big chop yet...LOL! I'm wearing weave and braids for transition so that I won't have so much to cut off but thank you for sharing! You are a beautiful woman! MY SISTERS ARE REPRESENTING!!!!

  • Glad I can be an inspiration to so many!! Thanks to you all. And to TrueProudEnglish, you're just jealous that your hair can't do the same things as mines. All yours does is lay flat and harbor lice.

  • beautiful, I hope my journey will be as good as yours

  • wow, i love it, im also in transition too, i still have alot of perm left in my hair but im subscribing to you, you my big inspiration. yay!

  • its so pretty, especially the last pic! what did u tie it up with??

  • Thanks. To tie my hair back I use a scarf that is about an inch or so thick. I start out like I'm going to tie it like a headband and then I keep pulling until my puff is where I want it. I wrap the rest of the scarf around my puff, tie a knot and tuck my ends in.

  • It looks good! Congrats

  • your hair is gorgeous! I chopped off most of my hair back in 2003 even though I hadn't permed since maybe jr high...it was just damaged. I'll do fake hair to give mine a rest but I love my hair big and curly...I'm growing it out more now. :)

  • the natural looks good

congrats for realizing that natural hair texture is more beautiful and sexier than a perm

  • Hi....your hair is beautiful!!! I just started the natural process; I'm transitioning. What type of products/names do you use on your hair?

  • Welcome to the natural journey...don't think you're in for an easy ride lol. The transition phase was a lot for me. It's hard to find any product that works with both hair textures because they are so different. I tried to do my hair as little as possible during this period. I used Organic Root Stimulator's Olive Oil Hair lotion and Carrot Oil along

  • As I was saying...along with shea butter to grease my scalp. I mostly kept it in cornrows, micros, weave, or back in a bun that I would tie up every night. You want to comb and brush your hair as LITTLE as possible during the transition time!

  • yes thanks

  • hey jojo i was wondering in ur video how come chop 2/25/07 in ya video after that u still had perms ends and the 26 then when u wore the weave cap and then when u took it off it was natural and long how could that be??? am little lost u still had perm ends....

  • Hopefully I'm understanding your question correctly. After I took my cap off I still had relaxed ends but under my cap my hair was in really small braids. So in the pic my relaxed ends blend in with my natural hair because the braids were so small. That's why braid outs are such good transitioning styles. I answered your question right?

  • Wow! This was good! I'm going natural and it's going to be such a big change bacause I know half-way nothing about it. Ur vid inspired me. Thanxs!

  • I love your hair! Please tell me what do you did to get it slicked back nicely in the last pic. Did you use a pin, band, etc? I have thick hair so its hard for me to pin it back neatly. Do you have products to recommend?

  • Thanks. To tie my hair back I use a scarf that is about an inch or so thick. I start out like I'm going to tie it like a headband and then I keep pulling until my puff is where I want it. I wrap the rest of the scarf around my puff, tie a knot and tuck my ends in.

  • As far as products...to get the puff to look like that I used Ampro Pro-Style Protein styling gel. But since gel dries out your hair I used Elasta QP H-Two spray and their Recovery hair oil for moisturization.

  • thanks

  • hi jojo im bak...im ready to give up now honestly cause my hair is so thick n some days i cut off the perm bit by bit n i have to wear one hair style for now cause if i try put my hair in two or something i cnt even part a line its so hard for me n am ready to give up:( but everytime i watch your vid it helps me out alot so i hope i culd get thru this because its taking too lng n am gettin frustrated

  • Sorry to hear that you are having difficulties handling your hair but don't give up!!! My hair is really thick too. Try using a rat tail comb to part your hair and also keep your hair moisturized. It is harder to work with when it's dry. If you can get braids or something to give you a break from styling, do that. It will help alot. Good luck and I'm always here for help!!!

  • nice progress, keep it up!!!

  • i'm not keen on the "natural hair" thing but u look good with bith straight and natural. Im impressed!! Because to be honest most cnt pull it off when they can. But this was nice!! You have pretty hair both ways!

  • most people can't pull what off? being natural? you a trip! I swear these self hating, got no love for the REAL BLACK IMAGE kinda sambo, niggerized black people are worse than racist white people. Perm ya hair if you want, but dont apply your ideal on to "most people" cause most people look best being themselves, & it'd be nice if we had more support from one another...not backwards compliments.

  • honey please. you really could have kept that one to yourself. I was complimenting this woman on her hair. What do you mean got no love for "the real black image?"

  • there is no such thing. And whatever a black person does to her hair is her choice (well any woman really) just because you "alter" your hair does not mean you're self hating.(what kinda shit is that??) Ok yes in my opinion most cant pull of that type of style. thats me so dont worry about it. I cant believe you even uttered the word niggerized.

  • what I mean by real black image is having a beauty ideal that is more closely in tune w/ the way you are born, enhancing beauty not grand alterations. I said the word niggerized because to say that in your opinion people dont look good with their natural black hair truly is samboeque of you. Altering ur hair doesnt automatically mean self-hate but saying that most people dont look good with natural hair is.

  • i know i prolly sound dumb as hell to you but samboesque??? I am not self- hating so i just thought i would clear that up now. I mean black people shouldnt be entitled to just one style (such as the way it naturally is) There shouldnt black styles and white styles there should just be styles for everyone to wear

  • you keep saying that people should be free to choose etc as if I said everyone should be 100% natural & never change anything--I never said people should have options. My point was when people start to say that natural black hair isnt an equally good option which your comment suggested. Its not like natural hair is a mowhawk or fuisha highlites its the way we were born.

  • sorry shouldn't have options not should: read people should have options

  • your backwards compliment is similar to how some white people say things like "oh she looks good, FOR A BLACK GIRL" except this is coming from a fellow sista to another. it was a compliment with a nice sized dis attached, and you dont even realize it. Its just a harmless opinion to you.

  • Coming from a person of mixed race it probabaly could have been seen as a "dis" (but ofcourse you probably didnt know that,eh?) But there was no dis attached. if i would have dissed i would have just... well thats not important. I've gotten myself into similar arguments so this is nothing new lol

  • if its nothing new you should probably ask yourself why. It doesnt change much knowing that you consider yourself to be mixed, its just a little less sad because i would be ashamed of that comment had it come from a "100%" blk person. But it still suggests you don't like the african part of your bg if you dont see beauty in most natural black people. perhaps you havent seen enough good examples.

  • its not that at all im proud of my heritage. Yeah comments suggest things about a person. In this case its not true. I said taht because of a previous comment at someone else about bald, perms, and ponytails (yah i know random and vague) but thats where i got it from and how we should all just be natural. I dont feel that its necessary to make a vid about, like its remarkable. As if something as pety as if hair was ever remarkable.I also probably sound ignorant too. But im not i promise

  • nah im not going to assume that you are ignorant, in fact I dont get that from you at all i just think you under estimate the implications of what hair can symbolize especially for black peoples since ours is pretty much different than all other people. You should probably just be a little more careful how you say things if thats not how you wanted it to come off. Take care

  • thank you tubeview888. this best youtube rant i've been in. the others usually resulted in me cussing someone out and reciveing death threats (no lie) arguing with ppl i dont know the internet seems to delight me in someway lol i take your reply as compliment. You take care also

  • Your hair is so beautiful! And I love this song. Who is it by and what's the name?

  • Thank you. It is I Am Not My Hair (Remix) by India Arie ft. Akon

  • Thank you! :-)

  • beautiful!

  • You have beautiful hair! Definitely keep rocking the curly fro. My hair is natural, but I wish it were as full and pretty as yours. You wear that with pride girl, keep it rockin!

  • Did you color your hair? If so, what brand of color did you use and did it alter the texture of your hair? I had a bad experience with a black rinse last August when I had a perm.

  • Nice progress...keep it up!

  • Sister remember those chemicals seep through your pours and sit on your brain. I know this from an autopsy. You are the Queen Goddess of the universe there is no God without Goddess. They want to be you. Let the sell outs continue to sell out.

  • thanks for answering me...well school has open so we cnt wear weave or n e thing like that but i had noticed my hair is breaking off alot so right not i have it row dwn the elastics at the end of it i guess am nt ready for it to start dropping off as much...

  • hi i like the result of your hair n it is another good video that inspire me to go natural more...i jus started goin natural i haven't bald my haed but i am letting the natural grow out so when it reaches the lengh that i want it i can cut what do u think about this like can that work out can u tell me what i can do to make it better for me plz

  • Do what's best for you and makes you feel comfortable. Let it grow out until you're ready to cut it. As a warning, it is very likely that you will eventually start to experience breakage because of the two opposite textures. To prevent this, keep combing to a minimum, keep your hair well moisturized, and wear protective styles.

  • From a black man to a black woman I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! GOD MADE IT THAT WAY! THANK YOU! I LOVE YOU!! WHOEVER YOUR HUSBAND IS OR WILL BE SHOULD BE HONORED TO PLAY IN THE GLORIOUS CROWN THAT GOD MADE FOR YOU!

  • Thank you! You're comment really means alot to me. It's appreciated!

  • wow. curly hair CAN be styled! u can actually flat iron and curl it? i always thought u needed to relax it first. tell me more abt it plz!

  • Oh there's lots you can do! Besides flat ironing and curling, there's braids, comb coils, wash and go, two or three strand twists, twist outs, spiral curls...It's so versatile!

  • I could have erased this but I just wanted everyone to see the hatred and racism that still exist in today's world. There's still a lot that needs to be changed...FREE THE "JENA 6"

  • Be strong Jo!!!! I love being nappy so in my book that's a compliment! The "nigger" part of that comment......only makes us stronger. There's nothing better for them to do except hate on us!!! TesticleCrusher?? Nice name.....maybe someone should have crushed his dad's testicles to spare us from this fools existence! Nappy-and-proud-of-it! We love you too TC so keep hatin! :o(

  • I just love to see black women go natural! They have a nice grade of hair. :)

  • I am considering going natural...i havent had a perm in about a month now...and i am fighting the urge to perm it again. i have about an inch of new growth and i REALLy want to start my natural...i like the way you didnt cut your hair all off to start your natural which is what i want to do. I dont want to shock myself...do you have any tips for me?

  • I know it's hard but you have to resist the urge!! My mom started transitioning around the same time I did and she still has not cut her relaxed hair off. It is really best to do what works for you especially to avoid "the shock" if you're used to long hair. I waited about 9 months before I cut off my relaxed hair and I hated the length initially but I grew too like it quickly. But do what is comfortable for you. Keep in touch!

  • It takes a lot of courage and self love to go natural. Stay on the journey. Your beautiful locks are what God gave you and He called you beautiful.

  • Thanks. I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • How did u feel when u first cut alot of your hair off? Were you kinna sad about it at first? Cause alot of people are like o my goodness I cant believe i'm doin this.

  • When I first cut it, I HATED it!! Although I didn't really let anyone know. I didn't realize that I had grown attached to my shoulder length hair. This only lasted about 2 days though. I'm glad I did it now but I must admit sometimes I still have moments when I hate it.

  • say no to perm

  • haha yes say no to the creamy crack!! Thanks for all the positive comments everyone!

  • gurl that was beautiful :)

  • Lovely

  • This is very nice =-) I really enjoyed viewing it

  • Black women need to show their sons educational growth or lack thereof. Maybe have a video called from the cradle to the grave!

Black women spend billions on their hair but not one foundation to help nurture black baby boys!

  • Hey, This is a good vid, I have not done the big chop yet but when I do...I might need to contact you :)

  • Thanks...feel free. I'll be of any help that I can.

  • What you did is great try to get more sista's following you

  • black women be proud of yourselves wear your hair natural.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • I second that...Your hair is your power. I know people might think that is a crazy thing to say, but look at this: Hair is the quickest way to damage people. Blacks mash theirs up with chemicals to try and get it straigth, Asians cut theirs off for the purpose of wigs and weaves, whereas white people don't need to do any of that. Who is currently ruling the world? Keep your hair natural.

  • You got that right. My hair is a part of my identity and I love to walk down the street, holding my head up high with my natural hair.

  • Your hair is awsome! I been transitioning for about 2 months going on three now! The new growth is crazy in the back and in the middle, but in the front its a different story lol. I guess my hair grows slower in the front lol. And I dont know how long i want to transition, im thinking about 6-8 months or maybe wait a whole year lol. Girl I just dont know. But your hair is beautiful and looks healthy!

  • Originally I planned on slowly letting it grow out but then one day I went and cut it on a whim. It was at the 8month point but it was drastic for me because I was used to having shoulder length hair. Anyway good luck with the transitioning, it can be rough. Send me a message if you ever need to talk...yup it gets that rough lol

  • Hey check out my video, with a lot of pictures of natural hair on Black women. I think your enjoy it. Great video girl!

  • Thanks!

  • Good video girl!

  • Also headbands are really great when transitioning and help out when times are hard...You should be able to find someone or a tutorial that can teach you how to braid. The skill will come in handy with natural hair.

  • OMG you're making me want to get my natural hair back. You look very cute and I like how you show the different styles with natural hair.

  • Haha Thanks. How long were you natural and what made you decide to change?

  • I'm currently transitioning and you are truly and inspiration! Thank you :)

  • I'm glad that I could be an inspiration for you. Keep me updated on how things are going...transitioning can be difficult

  • Awesome! I decided to go natural in June. My last perm was May 17. My hair looks crazy right now! Do you have any styling tips? I don't know how to braid nor anyone who can. Ideas? Thanks for the vid!

  • Are you currently natural or are you transitioning?

  • I'm totally transitioning. I've been wearing it long all my life. I would like to just pull it back in a bun forever until I have a kinda twa. Tips are always good!

  • Girl I swear "the bun" was my favorite transitioning style...gosh I miss that bun. Other than that there's always styles like a pony tail and curling the relaxed ends. I know you said you can't braid (cornrow) but if you can plait your hair, do that and unbraid it. Twisting is always an option also. If you have the money, go to the salon to get micros or kinky twists. I also made caps but in actuality it's just like a wig so you may want to play around with that too.

  • could you tell me the names of the products u used 2 make your hair go curly and wavery like it was at 2:05 in the video

  • After my hair was washed, I banded it and let it dry to stretch it out. I greased my scalp and my edges(don't remember what brand of grease). Then I sprayed my hair with water to get my hair moist so it wouldn't break when I pulled it. After that I put Ampro Pro Style Gel (Brown) on it and ElastaQP glaze over that, brushed it, and tied it back.

  • I love this!! Your hair is so pretty! Natural is the way to go! I did the BC on March 29, 2007....LOVIN' IT!

  • Nice video

  • what colour was ur hair at 1:52?

  • Thanks everyone for all of the comments. Sars I dyemy hair with Texture Tones permanent color Flaming Desire. It starts out red but due to a mixture of my hair not holding red well and the sun, it turns to that brownish copper color.

  • You should check out some braids that ppl in africa use in their hair in case if you want a real classy look. You can conrow your hair in intricate ways after you have practice addddddddddddios

  • your natural hair is absolutely beautiful! I just decided to go natural the other day, and i couldn't be happier for it. great video! favorited, and 5/5

  • Beautiful hair. I'm inspired.

  • You know what. I actually am but I had received something saying that my trial period was over so I never went back to it and updated it.

  • are you by chance on fotki?

  • Thanks everyone. I'm going to try to keep up to date photos of my hair. I'm working on getting a video camera. Until then I'll be working with powerpoint, so bear with me!!

  • Nice Vid Keep It Up

  • i really enjoyed your video. will u be doing more videos on your hair as it grows. i hope so.

  • that is some beautiful hair at 2:02

  • I enjoyed watching your natural hair journey! I had relaxed hair from age 10 to 20. I transitioned for almost 8 months and then chopped it all off in 2005. I'm so glad to be natural. Take care!
