  • My doctor never told me I have hashimoto disease but I'm being treated for thyroid disorder doctor told me its from immune system. I take synthroid and have most symptoms does it mean I have hashimoto ?

  • All the women on my mom's side of the family have it and I just got dianosed with it in early 2011. Pratically ALL the symptoms apply to me i had depression, weight gain, moon face, bumps on my legs, memory loss, etc. And now im SUPPOSE to take my meds (same as yours) but i forgot to cuz of the memory loss, i alway remind my self but forget in the end. and i try to take a vitamin but the same happens

  • She sounds like the tour guide at Disney.. hehe

  • thank you for posting this. my son is 9 and just diagnosed but he also has ADHDand some issues with his heart also his cholestral is high it is nice to know that I am not alone out there.

  • Feel lucky that you found this out early. I just got word that I have this and I'm 31. I have been dealing with it since I was in my teens and had no idea. For years my hands have shaken, sweating in the hands and feet, eyes bugging out of my head, hyperactivity, trouble sleeping. I have seen so many doctors over the years because I knew that something was wrong. But every doctor just told me I had anxiety and kept giving me lexapro.

  • Thank you for telling your story on youtube, maybe others will demand a simple blood test to rule out this problem. I'm so sorry you had to suffer. Ask your Father why aren't more children given a CBC with thyroid labs just as a source of basic info ? I knew a girl that was misdiagnosed for years, became overweight and became dependent on expensive laxatives and antidepressants. Ugg.

  • childrens teaching hospital here as im sure they can figure it out. My son has severe depression and anxiety as well and his father past from a car accident July 1st 2010 so that makes things much worse obviously. Thank you for sharing your story with us as I have been thinking my son has this disease but your video has almost confirmed it for me. My son also has a round face and if you are to click on my video's you can see his vid for his dad and his round face. Thank you so much and take care

  • Sent him for an ultrasound and bloodwork and all came back normal. Now a year later and everything is worse, he cant even play sports or be a child anymore. I once again took him to his ped and he said his thryroid is still enlarged and seems to have gotten a little bigger and when the doctor touches it, my son says it is very painful. My son can not swallow most times as his throat always hurts. We now found a cyst on his cheek. His ped referred him to a ENT but im going to take him to a

  • I would like to thank you for posting this video. My son has been suffering for a year now of being sick every day, feels as if he is going to throw up, has no energy and just recently we had to call an ambulance at his soccor game because he could not breathe. About a year a go he was complaining about feeling ill, nausiated, sore body, throat being sore, very dizzy and some points he couldnt even walk. When bringing him to his pediatrician he noticed that his thyroid was enlarged.

  • I am 17 and I have hashimoto's too i was just diagnosed last month when i was 16, looking back i wonder how long i have had it since i have experienced these symptoms for a long time.

  • I have/had Hashimoto's and have been off my meds since 2008. My lab results back then were over 100 for TSH and free T4 were below .10 . So how severe are my levels? When I was first diagnosed by my psychiatrist (you heard right) he said he was surprised I was even walking around. I had severe depression and was suicidal and had alot of physical symptoms. Btw, I don't plan on taking my meds again until I can get into a better living environment (community wise). Long story.....

  • @rotfrulez -Btw, I was VERY skinny as a kid which leads me to believe it started then. Why? Because when the thyroid is attacked it releases more thyroid hormones making you Hyperthyroid. I was always active but would also get sick all the time. I've gained some wait but I'm not obese now. So no one would've thought to check for a thyroid problem then until I got to a VERY dangerous point for a long time. I was diagnosed in my early 20's. I'm 37 now. 5'4" @ about 150lbs now (and puffy).

  • @rotfrulez - I JUST realized I used the wrong word for "wait", lol. I meant "weight".

  • thanks

  • It may be uncommon to get it as a child but in my case even more so considering I'm the one of the extremely few males with this disease, most people don't even consider this disease to be possible in men. Though I would have to say 2 years for diagnostics and very unnecessary considering you can test for hashimoto antibodies in your blood (antibodies transmute through blood so if you test for them they show up) My diagnosis was probably expected due to the fact my mother has it.

  • i've had this since i was 11

  • I am displaying a lot of symptoms of hypothyroidism such as feeling of constant cold, headaches, extreme fatigue, weight gain, depression, brittle/dry hair and nails. I hope to see the doctor this week about it b/c it is starting to affect my life. I am worried about my blood work coming back fine but still having these symptoms. Is that even possible? If the results do not show any sign of irregularity, does that mean I am free of hypothyroidism?

  • My daughter was diagnosed one month ago. SHe is l5 years old.

  • thnks for this video.. im also a teen with this.. but a GUY lol..

  • check into Yersenia bacteria and the connection with Hasimotos believe it what kills yersenia Wild Oregano oil-look it up

    Cheers

  • i need advice regarding this. my moms eia-tsh is 21.3 and eia-t4 is 10.6. we dont want to put on surgery even if her ultrasound got nodules. she is taking also levothyroxine. I been wondering do you also got thyroid nodule?? what are the steps you took?

  • Hello Please clarify on your test results you said your TSH levels were 21.32 but the pics following show TSH 0.96 and followed by 2.5 were these in the normal range or out of range. My daughter who is 12 had her TSH 3rd gen tested in 'Dec 2008 was 0.75 then in April 2009 was elevated 2.77. T4 was 1.0. Her ANA's were elevated and dual pattern Centromere Titer: 1:160 & Homogenous Titer: 1:160 retested April 2009 still positive same dual pattern Titers now 1:80 elevated heart rate too

  • When I was first diagnosed, my TSH level was at 21.32. The other pics that show my levels at 0.96 and 2.5 are from bloodwork that I took soon after I was medicated. Levels tend to fluxuate, but as long as they stay within the normal range, you should be good. The TSH normal range is 0.5 - 4.9. I don't know any ohters off the top of my head. Of course, I'm not a doctor, so you shouldn't live by my advice alone.

  • the suggested tsh normal range is .3-3.0 but most labs/drs still follow the old range of about .3-5.0 that's why so many go mis/undiagnosed.

  • went in to get my heart results form the Nuclear CT & other scans I had for my heart & was told that there were multiple densities to bilateral thyroid & he recommended further eval a nuclear scan & ultrasound more blood work to rule out Hashimoto's. My heart rate is elevated. My 12yr old has been having lots of troubles and her heart rate is fast her Heart doc says check her Thyroid as well. Anyone have these same findings from a nuclear CT?

  • I have the same condition. I have been on thyroid replacement medicine for 11 yrs now. I am 19. Make sure you pay attention when you get sick. I took synthoriod when I first started taking the medicine. However, my body built up an immunity & i was in the hospital for a wk. Never miss a dose. 3 days and your body starts to shut down. Do you have other problems associated w/ Hashimoto's, like sadness, muscle & joint pain, & fatigue? I am interested in talking to someone else with this condition.

  • I understand what you mean about building up an immunity to synthroid...I haven't experienced a full immunity to it yet, but I've had to increase my dose. I often have problems with depression, fatigue, etc. From what I hear, it's just part of the lifestyle people with Hashimoto's have to lead. I'd be happy to talk to you about this, if you want.

  • I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. it sucks I've have its sine i was 10!!!

  • Sorry. I just got this. How old are you now? How many mcg's of thyroid medicine do you take daily?

  • I'm 27. almost 28. im on 150mcg's and its still not enough. I've been to 3 specialists, no ones has fixed me yet.

  • you might need t3 meds, such as as cytomel, as well. ask your dr. about it

  • i was on 137mcg levothroid and still had to take naps to get through the day. i actually asked to be put on T3 meds though the endo at kaiser didn't really want to do so. cytomel made all the difference in the world. just know we will never be 100% 'normal' again, but we can be comfortable.

  • ohhh yeah and im 13

  • I hae the same thing a i feel depressed somtimes :(

  • I have Hashimoto's. I started to show symptoms in my late teens, but it took awhile for them to finally figure it out.

I don't think it's rare in children. I think it's that no one looks for it. I had the low body temperature as a child and no one thought to check my thyroid. Plus, if you don't make them run the antibody test, it often won't even show up. They really need to start looking for thyroid problems in kids. It should be found and treated alot earlier.

  • Bless you hon.

Please watch yourself as you get older. The synthroid might need some help as years of treatment on that leaves you with lingering hypo symptoms and seems to have your adrenals take up the slack a lot.

Sincerely a Hashimotos sufferer from teens to 49 years.

  • thanks for sharing.i'm 55 and was this January and will be heading to J.Hopkins to speak to physician in a couple of weeks - can't wait - and hopefully be prescribe the correct medication/dosage. I get Cranial Sacral work done along with Polarity, Shiatsu and Miofasicial work. ALL the therapies have helped. Standard Process nutritional supplements are organically grown whole food supplement and herbs that help bolster your immunity, I wish you luck! hugs, Roxy

  • From what i have heard, your dosage relies heavily on how severely hypo you were and sometimes your weight. Because I was barely qualified to be severely hypo, am still in my teens, and relatively thin, I am on a low dosage. But it differs for everybody.

  • I also have Hashimoto's my tsh was normal until I found the right doctor it took me 15 years to find him, everybody thought I was crazy and that I wanted synthroid to loose weight, this new Dr. I found he did antibodies, and something alse it was extremely high, a question what is your dosage? I am up to 200 mcg but I still feel hypo

  • should look into adding T3

  • very informative. I just learned myself i have this and your video was great! I was shocked to learn of your age. But after seeing your video and how well put together it is, i am confident you will be become successful in anything you try. your not alone and good luck
