What kind of paint do you have around the hood? At over 517 degrees F. I can't imagine any paint would stay on for any length of time near that afterburner!

@Kabar8315 ,the 928 hood is made of aluminum, the paint used on the hood is made by Hy-Tech Thermal solutions. INSL-X Hi-Temp #AL-2402. The paint is a silicone aluminum coating that withstands temperatures up to 1200°F

Thats neat as well as your other horn videos, I love jets too, but how do you not get in trouble with the noise laws with all the horns you have and setting them off outsode your house, I be your neighbors love you with all your toys honking ship horns and fireing up jet cars.

haha idles at 15k. I'm not really sure how relevant this can be to a standard combustion engine, but does this rev fairly quickly? Or is it pretty slow to accelerate.

@eskimo810 , it takes time to fully spool up, that is why you have to power brake it from a stop. once it spools it pulls very hard and even the Porsche brakes have a hard time slowing it down.

@themule3 ,A gas turbine engine cooling system. Hotter engine compressor air is cooled by a heat exchanger using a colder engine fluid (such as fuel or lower pressure (colder) engine compressor air. The cooled air passes through the compressor section of an auxiliary turbocompressor and is used to cool the engine high pressure turbine.

@BIGMIKESOCAL ,Some of the cooled air (or uncooled discharge air from the engine high pressure compressor) is used to drive the turbine section of the turbocompressor. The spent air exiting the turbine section of the turbocompressor is used to help cool the engine low pressure turbine.

The afterburners set up is not from NYE. It was custom made by RF Turbine works in Oregon.

I was fortunate enough to have seen these turbines in action. I saw these in a drone anti-submarine helicopter in 1966. The drone was a QH-50 DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter). It was a long-range anti-submarine weapon on ships that would otherwise be too small to operate a full-sized helicopter (DASH could be flown up to 22 miles from the ship, giving a submarine no warning that it was under attack, at least until the torpedo entered the water). It remained in production until 1969. cont.

(continuation from my last comment) The QH-50 DASH had a Boeing T50 engine with a payload to carry two Mk 44 torpedoes. Production ended in Jan 1966. There where 5 models made to order that received a high output T-50 engine producing 550 hp. These could have a payload of 4 Mk 44 torpedoes but flight range was decreased due to the increase in payload and horsepower.

xoobis, yes it could burn bio diesel. It can burn any fuel including vodka, tequila, or even Channel #5. Jet-A fuel assures that the fuel system does not get gummed up, that's why I prefer to use it.

zackes1990, at the beginning of this video, you could see a custom built aluminum gear case that links the turbine engine to the 928 driveline. The Turbine spins counter clockwise the 2 gears inside the gear case converts the rotation to clockwise rotation and also changes the ratio of the turbine output shaft so that the vehicle could be engaged into gear.
