Assalamu Alaikum, The reason beloved shaikh is looking straight ahead is because he is reading from Mushaf not that he dose not know that he spouse to look at the place of sujood....Good Question Brother...

Assalaamu 'alaikum,

Most reciters leading Salat will look ahead due to the microphone's positioning. Also, the Maliki madhhab prefers the hands to be on the sides (correct me if I'm wrong here), so it's more to do with the positioning of the microphone - even though looking to where you do sajdah is what we're taught as correct - ask a sheikh on this topic.
