the light can only seen when it is directly in front of you.

you cant see it from an angle because it recedes into the pen

and if the pen is in your pocket the side with the light should be against your body

while the camera is facing outward

any light of any kind on a hidden camera is a stupid idea.

Scenario 1: You drop your spy pen with no stupid LED light.

You: "Whoops I dropped my pen."

Bad Guy or otherwise unknowingly recorded person: "Heres your pen."

Scenario 2: Same except with a stupid LED light.

Bad Guy: "Hey whats that light for? Let me see that! You recording me!? Bruno, looks like our friend here needs a lesson in manners. Since I'm takin' your pen you ain't needin' all your fingers..."

@ctrlaltdlt01 you could always put a dab of black paint over the light, or wrap it with black electrical tape, many people have broken pens with tape on them. Or you can just break the light with an ice pick, or melt the plastic around the light with a hot screwdriver so the plastic covers the light. Be creative
