  • just bought facelifted version.. looks alot nicer, with leather interior and straight 4 2.3l engine.. drives very god, and is incredibly comfortable.. love its seats :P bought it partly based on your review :) just one thing.. pretty low for my standarts.. but then again roads where i live are incredibly terrible

  • @vecazeke I hope you enjoy your Scorpio. Good Luck.

  • I live in Canada, personally I really like the Scorpio. You're right, it does look like a happy car, really misunderstood machine I suppose. Kinda sad it wasn't sold here; instead we got the god-awful Taurus, which was big, slow, inefficient, handled like shit and hopelessly unreliable.

  • the 1994-1998 Ford Scorpio was assembled in

    Cologne, Germany

  • The Scorpio is not great on fuel, typically 24-29mpg (10.5ltr/100km??) for 2.0ltr car and slightly less for v6 cars.

I don't know much about LPG (GPL) so I can not really advise you. If you can buy a car that already has LPG fitted, that will save a lot of money. But it is expensive to fit LPG and you have to allow for that cost.

    Good luck.

  • Hi! I really enjoyed yer test drive and i'm a fan of the big Ford for the Eu. market, i still remember the Ford Taunus my parentes had for a short time when i was just a young kid. I dream to buy a Scorpio and it looks like a big deal, stylish, comfy and cheap now. What do you think about a methane/GPL inplant on this car? Because the fuel consumption seems his only problem. Thanks!

  • I bought my first Scorpio, loving it, just a while ago. A decision made partly encouraged by this excellent review. Thank you!

  • Rubbish!

  • I'm on my second Scorpio 2.9 Ultima Estate in 10 years, and I love them! The comfort levels are fantastic at second-hand prices, and the performance unbelievable. My latest one is in near immaculate condition, one owner from new, 80.000 miles, and only £300 on Ebay. You can have a lot of fun with those tail-gating white van drivers who think its an old Mondeo estate from the rear!

  • people make fun of this car but i think it looks really cool

  • @Annihilator1111 based off a fish according to ford

  • not a bad car in fairness, good interior and holds the ford name, but the rare lights are a major drag

  • REAR**

  • Very well done. I'm actually considering buying one of these myself.

If you can come out with more car reviews like this, you'll have yourself another subscriber!

  • @ImperialProductions

    Thank you for the compliment.

Cars and video is the intersection of two hobbies and it takes a long time to complete jobs on either. Hence I've got a few part finished videos, but they aren't worth uploading yet.

    Best wishes...

  • No these cars cars are not reliable. The engines are superb and you get many toys. I ran one very unsuccessfully. I never skimped on servicing using a main dealer for all servicing and I changed the oil every 5000 miles in order to get the maximum life from the motor. Gearbox failed, power steering rack failed and the cat failed. The car was only three years old when I purchased it and it only had 70,000 miles on it. Unless you can get a top of the line one for a pennies, forget it.

  • @roquesleflambeur

The Ford Scorpio is quite reliable car - however it have some common problems - parts prone to fail - wiring looms after years need to be fixed (in best replaced by silicone insulated wiring), relay-fuse boxes are not properly protected against water - need to be repaired, rear wheel hubs are fragile (car need to be checked before buy for good hubs, replace bearings ASAP), rust (mostly rear body) - those are main weakness - good car IMO - i have one and i like it very much.

  • That's my point. These are all quite big things, admittedly not the same as I endured with mine. As a cheap, comfortable large car they can make sense but only if very cheap. There are comparatively few of them about so values seem a little high. The case for an older LS400 with more miles is a better one though.

  • so are these cars reliable? you didnt really mention its reliability. Thinking of getting one to replace my current high mileage rover, i want something comfortable and reliable but ive noticed you see alot of these cars for sale for spares even at low miles, so shall i play safe and get a honda or similar or are these cars ok?

  • @petayV8

The Scorpio is a pretty safe bet & ours was a great car. The only time it has failed in 9yrs was the battery, which was more to do with only doing short trips (typically).

I would say the engine is better than the Rover (no sticky valves or head gasket problems) & the gearboxes seems tough enough. All the electrics are still working pretty much perfectly.

I've always liked the Rovers, but this is better built. I suspect they are broken as they are worth more as parts!

  • Lovely car.. Scorpio Ultima 24v Cosworth here.

  • i love this car. i have Scorpio Turnier 1998 y. one.

  • Hey great video!!

Always loved the Scorpio so hoping to buy one this year. I for one love the styling of the car esp the chrome and long rear lights and the American styling.

  • I like the 2.9 cosworth automatic trans. It's really a good car, inside looking good, engine is powerfull but.. The backside of the car looks okay with the long lights. But the front side is not that pretty. Maybe if you replace that iron ring around the "mounth" and give the car eyelids it maybe be good looking. With a 2.9 cossie engine this car does beat a lot of cars on the road.

  • Clearly there's lot of people who love these old Scorpios, even if they don't look brilliant.

I rather like older cars that punch over their weight. The Cosworth versions and 2.9's are good performers and good fun for relatively few £'s.

    Best wishes...

  • @DKHvideo i like scorpio's even though ford based them off fish.

  • It was a styling disaster, all they had to do was to improve slightly on the last edition granadas (which were good looking), and it would of sold more than the omega which was its main rival and a far better car. nice video anyway.

  • You did alright mate. Nice cars these, styling is suspect, but in v6 form, in particular the cosworth, they are competent performance saloons.

  • great video and car.. i have ford scorpio 1995..

  • Thank you.

  • I like your video sir.... :) nicely done..

  • You're right, not one of Ford's better moments, but look beyond the styling and it is a good big car...

I've filmed this Scorpio because it is mine and have you tried borrowing a Lambourghini?

  • This car will never be a classic. I never even heard of this thing before I clicked on this video. Interesting country lanes. I don't like that sort of american styling. I suppose if you say its only a couple of hundred pounds could be an ok deal..
