swapped a pair of loafers for electric warrior joined t rex appreciation society married an evil bitch who wanted to ditch my t rex collection ditched the bitch kept collection.
I remember RIDE A WHITE SWAN on TOTP and my wonderful Uncle said he thought Bolan was a GOLIWOG. I WAS TEN YEARS OLD AND MARC HAS BEEN WITH ME EVER SINCE! Was at the Portsmouth Locarno for what became his last gig. That gig was attended by one JOE JACKSON who was there to check out the Damned. Later Jackson sported the I LOVE TO BOOGIE lapel badge!
i didnt get the connection first of but then i was young when i heard t.rex for the first time from radio and pubs, but trextasy gig came so i thought why not i remembered it from yrs back they played jeepster from that moment i dont know what happend it struck me like an arrow, i now cant explain but i feel a connection to someone i never met and a strong pull towards that tree to me near i,m sure this will be with me always
My Dear Mum bought me 'Electric Warrior in the early seventies...Never stopped since, Was gonna see him live in 77 but the wife wanted a pair of Levi's so I bought them and left seeing Marc till later................
I wouldnt know... she left me! lol ... and I never got to see Marc after that. Been to the tree several times though, anyone thinking about it, DO IT... you wont regret it.
it was 1976-i was 16 into led zep-black sabbath-and a lot of other music-when i went to my friends party basement he was playing THESLIDER-i said what is this shit-he said T.REXTHESLIDER and I made a joke then said put it in the trash-well 2 years went by-i was at a friends house-i said what music is that playing he said T.REXTHESLIDER-i never stoped playing marc's music since then-every album is great-but my favorite is THE SLIDER
my first experience: in 73 when i was at school, a friend brought several records (somebody in his family was in a record shop)
(excuse my english) and between these records it was a single : born to boogie-solid gold...it was a shock , it was the music i wanted to ear..after i discovered Marc ...my God !
I first heard of T.Rex when around 85 or 88 Martin Gore of Depeched Mode sang 20th century boy and some Roxxy Music songs at his own B-Day party. since then I have loved everything that Marc and the boys have done. Luckily Martin usually puts out a cover version every once in awhile.
I was riding in the car in Los Angeles, when Mambo Sun came on. I fell in love with my ears. Then came the day I saw Marc for the first time-OMG-I had to have everything he ever did-sported a T.Rex t-shirt until it fell apart. Then compared every guy I ever saw to him. Locked in my heart forever.
I forgot to mention in the vid-I bought Beard of Stars and Unicorn because I couldn't believe there was a band named after a dinosaur-my curiosity got the better of me! BB
My big brother had Electric Warrior and some 45's and I was digging them but it wasn't until Tanx came out that I really got the bug. A trip to Scotland really opened my eyes to a whole different world of music that just wasn't played in Canada. Thankfully Marc played a show in Calgary in '74 and it was great. Baby baby I was born to boogie!
In 1972 while living in Switzerland I heard "Ride A White Swan" on the radio. I was far from my country and friends and that song just lifted me up and I said "wow!". So I found out that this band T. Rex was from England. I ran out and got the pop magazines and when I first saw Marc's photo, it was love at first sight! I bought the single and would wait in anticipation for the next one to come out. It set me on fire. "Hot Love" was the next one and that was it for me. I am a fan for life!
I found a T.Rex CD at a book store... didn't recognize any songs or who it was - but I bought it anyway! I don't know why.... just felt compelled to buy it.
There was 1972 and the best two DJ's hold great rocking discotheques in my town. Music was always a great part of my life and I loved those dancing Thursdays:). One day DJ's announced great new tracks (not known in our country). I remember my feelings up to this day - Children Of the Revolution, Metal Guru, Get It On were absolutely fascinating. Marc Bolan became my hero and his music sounded in my heart more than 30 years. A year ago I found him in all his beauty here. Thank you all:)

Sister Pat Hall, show some respect. Apparently you don't recognize great soul singing.
