I do this too - walking around the forests. I don't get why people say they all look the same. I think there's a lot of variety in the environments, like down south near Leyawiin its very boggy and marsh like compared to the Great Forest in central Cyrodiil, especially with the different weather patterns like you showed in the video. It's nice to see another gamer enjoying the quieter more subtle things in the game :)
I actually watched this video and decided to buy the game before i watched any of your lets play videos. Now I have seen all of your great videos and found one of my favourite games! You are doing a great job, keep it up!
@sargin1. Oh my we are high today. Vanilla is no mods, just plain Oblivion. Or mabey you ment "Can you post a torrent link?" If so, please go buy the game with your own money, you lazy little shit.
I am fascinated by people who say Oblivion needs mods to look good. Seriously, get a grip people - yes, some mods do improve the textures, the weather simulation and whatnot, but Oblivion still looks damn fine even without them. Compared to Morrowind, Oblivion looks infinitely (yes, infinitely) better.
I play it with some mods, but they mostly affect the gameplay, not the visuals.
@Koblaja12 well i think the next on is in Summerset isle or Skyrim, if its in skyrim that would be cool but summerset isle would have a crazy enviroment
no, its not perfect :P when bethesda manages to melt all that good stuff from morrowind and the things from oblivion together and forge a new bright supergame from it, THIS would be the perfect game! ;-)
well to a fairly new player (1 year or less) it might seem that way but ibe been playing since release and i'll tell ya, OOO and MMM definately add to the experiance
Aah, I barely can tolerate the 2D sprites that make up the leaves of the trees. I often stand beneath one and look at the sky and rotate just looking at how the leaves rotate as you rotate >_>
Nice video. You should've shown a little of the northmost area, where there is snow (I love winter so I think I always go there when I play that game. I'd be quite happy to see a TES-like RPG taking place in a setting similar to Northern Cyrodiil like Skyrim, for example.
But Morrowind seems to have like twice the gameplay content. Anyway... I'll like it Friday... But be able to play it two weeks from now... Sucks a lil', but as we say : Better later than never
It was the mid-range model from Apple. So around $2,699.00 CA.
It is decent for high quality gaming but now the new models are WAY better. For example, the new one has twice the ram and twice the Vram (9600GT instead of an 8600GT) not to mention a bigger harddrive.
on a non-pro macbook? I'm not sure. I used to play the game on an old PC with low graphics and it was still enjoyable.
Fighting in the game requires 3 buttons excluding the hotkeys for switching spells and weapons. Left-click is swing, right-click is block, "C" is cast spells. Hold-left-click is a power attack, etc.
Combat is a bit more like a FPS... as your skill levels only affect how much damage you inflict, not how often you hit.
Yeah I got the macbook pro to do my 3D work and gaming.
It's a solid gaming machine but I tend to reduce some settings on my games to guarantee high performance. In Warhammer Online, for example, I can run the game on highest settings no problem but, during keep sieges, it's sluggish (100+ people on screen throwing spells around will do that).
on my pc it looks nicer without this mod...well my system is: intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2x 3.3 GHz 4GB ram High End Pc800 DDR2 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600GT
Nice video... these kinds of videos always make me think of how awesome the sounds in Oblivion truly are. I never actually think about it while playing myself.
urmothersmom, the macbook pro has a very good graphics card that comes already installed. Even the base model macbook pro would be able to run this game on high settings. The Macbooks on the other hand have integrated graphics, so they would not be able to run this game or many newer games decently.
wow, awesome. Im getting a macbook pro soon. Which sku did you get? (mind posting the specs) and what do you run the game at (settings wise) thanks for posting this +fav.
I have the 2.4Ghz Macbook Pro and in-game settings are maxed. I then tweaked the .ini file a bit.
iShadowMapResolution=2048
bUseWaterReflectionsMisc=1
bUseWaterReflectionsStatics=1
bUseWaterReflectionsTrees=1
bUseWaterReflectionsActors=1
The increased Shadow Map resolution makes the Self-Shadows look better.
For actual gaming, I reduce the draw distance on Trees (50%), Actors (50%), Items (25%), Objects (50%) and Grass (25%). With HDR lighting, the grass doesn't "pop".
very beautiful and lush. too bad the real world isn't like this anymore thanks to corporate creep

It's surprising how far ahead of this Skyrim is even though it runs on the same hardware.

GIX what is vanilla ? is it like a graphics mod or something ?
yurishan1994 3 months ago
@yurishan1994 It's quite the opposite. Vanilla means "plain", in the sense that there are no mods installed.

In the next TES game they MUST have the enviroments of morrowind and the combat from oblivion and there is the perfect game.

Gomka1000 2 years ago
Where did you hear that? Just curious, cuz all the proffesional sites I've been to (eg. UESPwiki) say Skyrim.
JerryPRHS 2 years ago
Well, I just thought what with all the references to it in oblivion, they were forshadowing TES V Summerset Isle.
Plus it would be more interesting than just snow and mountains

people who pay to play a glorified forest simulator should really just burn their money and be done with it

How can they burn it if they've already spent it? Makes no sense!

Oblivion is far from being only about simulating a forest. From what I've heard, it also has hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay.
I have it, it's wicked Oo

over 200 hours of gameplay.

Morrowind. More variable armors, and clothing. And much better sidequests.
I don't get it why forced bethsoft to stop Morrowind MOD for Oblivion.

anything else you installed to get oblivion running on the macbook pro?
TheDarkLegionTC 3 years ago
FPS varies based on what you're looking at, but with my rig and settings I get anything between 40-to-60fps.
As for installing anything else, nope. Just bootcamp, Oblivion and Fraps (for the recording).
