Sweet Sacrifice "It's true we're all a little insane" was inspired by Aerosmith's "Toys In The Attic" album which means "insane" and/or "go crazy". The song Sweet Sacrifice was inspired by Sweet Emotion on the same Aerosmith album, as was the lyrics in Pour Some Sugar On Me "Step inside, WALK THIS WAY" another song on the album. I used Van Halen's Unchained in the lyrics Sweet Sacrifice as "Now that I'm unchained".
Lyrics for Snow White Queen "Stoplight, lock the door" was inspired by Billy Squier's Lonely is the Night lyrics "Red lights, green lights, stop and go jive". I used this also in Pour Some Sugar On Me for Def Leppard "Listen! Red light yellow light green light go!". I used Billy Squier's "In The Dark" for "undress IN THE DARK" also. I used "Dark" and "Lonely" in many songs, especially for Evanescence.
I chose the review by Frank Rich of The New York Times as inspiration due to it being released the same day (Oct. 1, 1983) which my grandmother lost her battle with Leukemia. It was a way for me to honor her and for the artists who performed the songs to honor her as well.
Why are all of these comments one big argument over who did what? I think this song is beautiful, and it deserves to be honored for its beauty and meaning. For a start, Pink is very different to the rest of the artists you claim to have been involved with. She was initially pressured to have an image by her managers and so on, but she didn't want what they wanted her to be. Pink is popular first and foremost because of her attitude to life, and it's very evident in the lyrics SHE writes. She writes them as things change in her life, and the same insecurities can often be expressed. Simply put, you had no part in the woman she's become.

Michael Hutchence/INXS were helping Geldof & Ure founders of Live Aid with Australia's Oz for Africa at the time. Hutch and I were involved. After writing "Call Me When Your Sober" performed by Evanescence, I made up "Sober" for Pink. My father was an alcoholic & became interested when I found articles about "Lithium" being a possible way to reduce the craving in '83.

@FFQueen92 I was followed home by Joe Elliott who was with a little known band Def Leppard. From what I understood this was not usual. DL was not widely known then since Pyromania was released in January of that year. Not everything happened in '83, but that is when it all started. I didn't just invent stagenames for 2 singers but many artists in music and actors. There were many involved from record labels, producers, art schools, etc. scouting talent over yrs. I wrote songs for Nirvana.

When I started writing the songs for Evanescence it was with the full intent of performing the songs myself, fronting the band. Being plagued by stagefright from early childhood found it was not possible. After many years and many songs that I wrote a lead singer was found. She uses my name as her stagename.

@brodyhoyt123456 Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. The members of the band were scouted, discovered and signed to a record label and brought together as a band. The lead singer was brought in to meet me and auditioned for me. I had been writing songs for the band I envisioned as Evanescence since 1983 at the age of 15 after Joe Elliott of Def Leppard discovered me. I worked with many artists over the years, not only on songs, but image as well.

Sweet Sacrifice inspired by Aerosmith's Toys In The Attic & Sweet Emotion, Toys in the Attic meaning insanity. Bring Me To Life was inspired by Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. Bob Geldof was Pink in Pink Floyd's The Wall who I named the artist P!nk for. Everybody's Fool inspired by Def Lep's Foolin.

Sweet Sacrifice isn't even about insanity, it's a very bitter song. Bring Me To Life was about wanting to be saved from despair, so sorry but the word "numb" appearing in both proves nothing. Everybody's Fool is, once again, about a different subject to Foolin'. As for Pink, that requires a second comment.

For a start, Pink is very different to the rest of the artists you claim to have been involved with. She was initially pressured to have an image by her managers and so on, but she didn't want what they wanted her to be. Pink is popular first and foremost because of her attitude to life, and it's very evident in the lyrics SHE writes. She writes them as things change in her life, and the same insecurities can often be expressed. Simply put, you had no part in the woman she's become.

Michael Hutchence/INXS were helping Geldof & Ure founders of Live Aid with Australia's Oz for Africa at the time. Hutch and I were involved. After writing "Call Me When Your Sober" performed by Evanescence, I made up "Sober" for Pink. My father was an alcoholic & became interested when I found articles about "Lithium" being a possible way to reduce the craving in '83.

@FFQueen92 I was followed home by Joe Elliott who was with a little known band Def Leppard. From what I understood this was not usual. DL was not widely known then since Pyromania was released in January of that year. Not everything happened in '83, but that is when it all started. I didn't just invent stagenames for 2 singers but many artists in music and actors. There were many involved from record labels, producers, art schools, etc. scouting talent over yrs. I wrote songs for Nirvana.

@MasakoXer I wrote songs for Madonna starting in 1983 after the release of her first album. At the same time, I started writing songs for a band I envisioned and named Evanescence. When I started writing the songs for Evanescence it was with the full intent of performing the songs myself, fronting the band. Being plagued by stagefright from early childhood found it was not possible. After many years and many songs that I wrote a lead singer was found. She uses my name as her stagename.
