btw i used to bark/growl with my dog, and he used to suddenly stop barking getting comfused, so fun to see that happen and then lots of hugs and kisses.
Can't believe some of the more foolish comments and wrestling with your dog. Sheesh, I tussled with my mixed lab and he NEVER bit me and we had a great time. Only once did he lose temper and that was with his litter mate and he knocked the crap out of him. I broke it up, but that's the only time I saw him lose temper (Fighting over toy BTW)
Some people make the stupidest comments when they need to be worrying about something else! NOT ONCE have I EVER had a dog try to bite me because of playing and puttng them on their back! I have had almost every type of "aggressive" breed and they all play and love it!
Ariel, my Bull terrier (spuds or target dog) has a BlAST wrestling and playing...other then helping me with recycling by tearing up alll cardboard she finds, it wrestling and ACTIVE playing are her favorite activities!!!
I love this video! all this pish posh about "rolling the dog over" dogs aren't stupid, they understand play, they love to play and as the owner stated "he tries to provoke the playing" I've also experienced this with the 3 Dobermans that have been part of my family over a number of years. This type of play has always been a very important way to bond, teach boundaries and the most important, show total trust. i.e. this is play, this is fun and I will never hurt you. Great video! :)
Some people take things way over the top. If a person trusts a dog to play with him like that then they know that the dog wont try to hurt him. If you dont like what people do then stop watching the videos and do your own thing
I used to rough house with my dobe all the time. He nipped me a couple of times but I always let it go because I was playing rough too. Its ok to rough house I think as long as you understand they will play just as rough.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Plz don't roll your dog like that... If he were to end up biting you because of it, would you get rid of him? Most people would because "My animal should never bite me" but that is simply not the case. Rolling them onto their backs is something that most dogs will eventually bite for because it makes them so uncomfortable. And before you say ANYTHING about the "alpha role", it is better for your dog to be submissive because he trusts you, not because he fears you, and that holds for all dogs.
@huckster699 First of all, my comment is not stupid. Second, if you think my comment is so stupid, why don't you tell me why?? Do you even have an opinion, or are you just being an obnoxious troll?
My uncle trains large breed dogs, and yes, while this video is adorable, I have seen so many people come to him for help because "We were playing rough and all of a sudden, after I rolled my dog on its back, it bit me!" This dog will most likely never bite its owner, but there is always the chance.
@TheWolfgirl121 We've had him for over 4 years and he's been playing like this since day 1. He's just fine.... and no, I would never get rid of him. That is a very rude and presumptuous comment. I also believe he thinks it's fun, he tries to provoke the playing and is definitely not scared of us.
@brownMful It was very rude of me, and I apologize for making a comment like that. I can tell that you love your dog and would never do something like that. I was just expressing my concern, and I did so in the wrong way.
@brownMful Please lay off the "rude and presumptuous." If you're going to be that sensitive then don't post. Rough play is fun and the dogs love it! Rolling can be misinterpreted and is an unnecessarily alpha move.
@LimeyKat Excuse me, I do have a dog. I know how dogs play. I've also seen a LOT of dogs that are uncomfortable with being rolled like that. I can see that this dog loves his owner and would, more than likely, never bite. Dogs are not people, they are animals and are unpredictable. I don't care how much training a dog has, they still have teeth. Maybe you should talk to a professional trainer or an animal behaviorist before assuming someone is ignorant when they are really only showing concern.
@TheWolfgirl121 Calm down, as long as alpha is in place (as is seen by the reaction to the "sit" command) and the owner is aware of possible bites in the heat of the battle its all good. Alpha is natural, its the way of life. Primates have a different system then other mammals, its just the way nature works.
i agree on the part that he should either trust you then fear you, but in occasional situations rolling a dog on his back and even choking him (or well at least grabbing his throat not really choking) is sometimes needed. For example one time, when we were on a walk our 43 kg Dog growled at a baby-car, because he didnt know it (we dont have kids) so i grabbed him, threw him on his back and choked him, just to show him such behaviour is INACCEPTABLE. It worked
I dont abuse my dog at all btw and i HATE people who abuse animals, when training with our dog i mostly just work with treats, since ours is a rhodesian and is quite sensitive to being yelled at etc, i need a very positive way of training because otherwise he would be intimmidated (is that word correct? sorry im german) and it wouldnt have any positive effect
@TheWolfgirl121 You say this because you're a woman who can;t possibly understand why a dog (and a man) would like to play rough like this. Just because you think the dog is uncomfortable doesn't mean he is. Seems to me the only bite that could occur here would be from getting a little too rough and on accident. I doubt the guy would hold it against the dog. I have two dobermans and I play the same way with my dogs. They love it.
I like to play rough with my dobie as well, but you're making a dangerous mistake. Don't roll the dog over. It's a VERY dominant move and may result in a bite someday. Check around with some dog experts, they all recommend against rolling because it has such a strong, negative meaning to the dog.
@MrFatcat23 As a Dog trainer with over 35 yrs experience, my observation is This dog is having a fine time! He has learned that his owner is not trying to Kill him because it's been turned into a game. All my dogs have learned that I will Never try to Kill them so I can do anything except get Angry and attack them, then they will tell me "Hey NOT Fair," I never use physical corrections or pain to train, get more education before Yelling at someone in play with his dog.
@alulquoydesigns I have trained dogs for 35 years as well. I play ROUGH with all my dogs. They understand it's a game. But all games have rules. I wasn't YELLING, or I would have written in CAPS. I don't want some inexperienced guy to pick up a rescue dog and roll him. The outcome *could* be bad for the dog and owner. Then the breed ends up in the newspaper with a bad rap. Rolling is not necessary to rough play. A poorly trained owner might get bit.
@MrFatcat23 come on bro, cant you see the bond between em. robber is in love with this dude and this dude with him, its so obvious, coming from a dog lover, friend and owner for over 20 years.
hahahah goldie plays with me the EXACT same way....... my mom is always yelling from the kitchen ' get of the floor and take him outside!' can't belive someone else is playing like him! :D great dog! :)
Love Dobe's that play rough. You can see me and Bane doing our thing by searching "Bane at work."
Might I suggest teaching him some simple tasks to keep his mind sharp. Maybe getting the remote for you... or picking things up and handing them to you?
