  • co-op don't don't fund the manufacture of "indiscriminate" weapons like napalm or cluster bombs. however, small(er) weapons totally dominate the arms trade anyway, e.g. rifles, grenades, mortars, rpg's. they don't fund organisations that are cruel to great apes, which is great, but what about other endangered species? it's a tiny/incremental step (ethically) they've taken beyond their high-street rivals.

  • @BOZ11 I believe (from speaking to a friend who has worked there for years) they have a massive list of caviats for anyone who wants to take out a loan with them, not limited to avoiding the arms trade but also dealing with military regemes and lots of other things that are worthy of attention

bottom line is if we don't create a market for ethical banking there will be one, by showing you care you create a market for other banks to come in and say "we can do better than coop! move to us!"

  • @RevolutionaryJam that's a fair point, though the other banks are both amoral and larger, so i'm unsure as to how much financial incentive there really is to being ethical in a capitalist climate

  • @BOZ11 new banks could always be created to take advantage of a market

  • CO-OP are fair trade, Fair for who ??!!

  • @AirLockBelsen I believe (from speaking to a friend who has worked there for years) they have a massive list of caviats for anyone who wants to take out a loan with them, not limited to avoiding the arms trade but also dealing with military regemes and lots of other things that are worthy of attention

  • bless

    blessings too

  • Thanks for your comments to me - sadly I still can't read them - they disappear as I click on them - but you seem very aware and intelligent - so please keep in touch!

  • @Intangible88 I guess they are "Intangible"

  • Thanks, this is really helpful and i agree that it is bad that most banks don't let us know where their money is being used, etc :)

  • I have about decided that the only safe place for any of my money would be in the Hippy Bank. It hasn't been created yet but I could imagine that it would invest in green industries and some alternative energy industries. What was the name of the bank you suggested?

  • @protester Triodos for savings, but go ahead, start your own!

  • @RevolutionaryJam good work, but good point also below about how parent banks offer "ethical options" to suckers giving them a lower rate of return, then invest those profits in evil ventures...still, not to be too cynical, great channel, keep it up homie

  • @dopevidism thanks for the feedback and the compliment, look forwards to hearning more from you

  • Good point about people doing there own research, and thank you for sharing it is by sharing that we will find a way to free ourselves from the chain of this corupt system.

  • All the banks where I live don't offer ethical investing options.

  • Cool Idea. I'm sick of Wells Fargo Bank.

They have twice allowing frivolous bank levy s on me, and my having to jump through hoops to unravel the error, and then fight for my 100 dollar levy fee.

And I just read about Wells Fargo being discriminatory in the American south with bank loans to people of color. Why am I not surprised.

    to minorities.

  • @RevolutionaryJam -->

you can not ask a criminal, as is the IMF. of TO BE less CRIME.

YOU MUST KILL THE: OR YOU MUST DIE

this against the bank seigniorage is only a mortal war

tu non puoi chiedere ad un criminale, come è il FMI. DI ESSERE MENO CRIMINALE.

TU LO DEVI UCCIDERE: OPPURE DEVI MORIRE

questa contro il signoraggio bancario è solo una guerra mortale

  • good...yeahhh

  • Yes, my girlfriend has switched to the Co-Op, purely for ethical reasons.

  • Thanks for the link...keep up the good work thanks

  • thanks for the links

  • Yes, the Co-Op is a step in the right direction, but ultimately they are still controlled by the privately owned central banks!

  • yes but the market responds to demand so our pound (or dollar) is really the only vote we have

  • banks own the arms industry... its purpose its to protect and expand its debt based counterfeit banking monopolies as well as their other cartels,, read" the hegemony of parasitism"

  • Take the money away from the banks.

They are all under Rothschild control, either directly or indirectly, keep the money with you.

  • Yay Co-op!!!! lol used to work there!

  • hey great :-D

  • sure lizard come out coward expose yourself words mean nothing nwo must fall your all exposed by the good god

go lay with your masonic staff and devil worshiping money

with all the evil symbols on them and die

  • lol ok if u say so :-)

  • Lehman Brothers files for bankruptcy and Bank of America buys Merrill Lynch in a $50 billion deal...BIG TROUBLE ON THE HORIZON.

  • only if you let it be trouble, you can grow vegetables on your window ledge if you have to, even that is a step towards self sufficiency, unplugging from the system, and taking control of your own health and wealth

  • I agree.. All you people out there under the illusion of paper money in banks pull it out.the sooner you become free from this illusion the better.the us banks are failing.top news today here.

  • All you people in the UK...this man is correct. move your money from the big banks to a small bank.

  • thankyou, there are some US based ones as well! They may be harder to find but they are out there! :-)

  • Is it Jesus with huge eyes?

  • fantastic stuff man, you're right ethical banking is very important - I'm with Triodos and Smile!

  • cool stuff, lets spread the word!

  • What is wrong with nuclear power or GM crops?

I don't think there's anything un-ethical about solving the world's power crisis and food shortages. but then again I've got a realistic + scientific view on how these two miracles work and are going to save our planet, and not some two-bit hippy view of something you don't understand. Go to a physics lesson

If so then I'm glad i'm with an un-ethical bank, and funding Nuclear power

  • hi thats a load of nonsense about solving the world food crisis, non organic farming is not sustainable long term because it damages the soil

the world food shortages are engineered to make a justification for using GM crops

also the argument for nuclear power is very weak, please message me i will direct you to some well-researched articles

far from not knowing what I'm talking about I did several years of study on environmental issues & have been paid to give lecture on those matters

  • beneaththeabove asks: "What is wrong with...GM crops?"

You do understand that Monsanto, Novartis, Dow and Du Pont are buying up agricultural companies, patenting seeds, and bioengineering plants with a "Terminator Gene" so they can't reproduce -- and farmers can't save seeds to plant the next year. Farmers are even contractually obligated by Monsanto to use Roundup on Roundup Ready crops. Right?

  • They engineer the plant to get seedless fruits, such as seedless grapes or seedless watermelons, because that is what the cosumer wants, its possible to get a seed producing crop from a seeless plant.

Anyway, that's not the problem i had with this video, i had a problem with him TELLING me what is ethical and what is not. what is Ethical is an OPINION not a black and white fact, He has also deleted some other comments of my response...

  • beneaththeabove - OK. Understood. May I ask you why you say "Ethical is an OPINION"?

What is your definition of the word "ethics"?

  • beneaththeabove - by saying "They engineer the plant to get seedless fruits,..." I see that you have not done your homework on GM crops.

They are NOT the same as "seedless varities".

They HAVE seeds (all grain is "seed" don't you know?) but THE SEEDS WILL NOT GROW.

So farmers will never again be able to save some seed for the next year's crop. Plus they don't nourish correctly.

Even Prince Charles has warned they will be "the biggest disaster environmentally of all time". Google it.

  • Charles also talked to tree's when he was younger and believes in homeopathic medicine.

Anyway, i believe ethics to be actions based on what i think to be moraly right and wrong...For example the companies' CEO'S think it may be ethicaly right to Genetically modify crops so farmers need to buy seeds every year, obviously we think that is ethically wrong as individuals.

Although i must admit it is a v. clever way to attain more money, microsoft did something similiar...

  • beneaththeabove states: "...i believe ethics to be actions based on what i think to be moraly right and wrong."

OK. Now we've suddenly switched to "morals". Fine. So, if you think it is OK to steal from me because I have a nice house, say, and you don't, then it is "morally right" or "clever"?

  • It's not really a big switch...morals and ethics are closely intertwined

I don't really understand your question...but is it the age old question of "Would you steal a loaf of bread to feed a starving family"?

whatever answer you give, some will call it right, some will call it wrong, that is a moral question.

Even if 99% give the answer "no" to that question, it doesn't make them right in the sense that 1+1=2, they just share the same morals

  • beneaththeabove - it's a shame they have deliberately removed the study of morals and ethics from schools now.

We end up with "Even if 99% give the answer "no" to that question, it doesn't make them right...they just share the same morals".

Really quite terrifying if you think about it. 2 brutes vs. one helpless one, and you have...the law of the jungle.

  • Brilliant stuff thanks...

  • more than welcome

knowledge is nothing without action x

  • I can't you understand you

you are talking to quikly =]

  • if everyone stopped taking out loans then the federal reserve etc wouldn't be able to operate cos now money is actually based on debt, not gold, and they're trying to scrap the 1:9 ratio altogether

  • true!

  • mmm,

it's a case of the lesser of two evils isn't it? the democrats over the republicans, chiraq over le penn, the guardian over the murdoch papers, co-op over hsbc...i had an account with the co-op. one day i had a standing order go out which put my account in the red. to cut a long story short i ended up getting fined £200 by the ethical bank. these days in taiwan i just get paid, and use, cash.

  • it is good if you have the ability to opt-out

  • Sorry,RJ,but I'm an American,we don't have ethical banks here! But I watch your vids anyway cause your accent is fuckin' COOOOOOOOL!!!And you have GREAT hair!Take it easy, bro!

  • hehehehehe thanks so much, check the side bar as there are some links to banks that DO exist in the us xxx love love love

  • Is co-op the only alternative?

  • hmmmmm the seem to be the only alternative for current accounts that can be found on the high street I'm afraid!

There are several options available for savings, ISAs and loans though

  • loderchris. No, a co-opted system is just one idea. There are many variations on a theme. I lived in Russia for many years there everyone helps everyone else. So, I fix someone's car they get me tickets for the theatre. If you examine how banks started they lent out other people's money with `interest'. They are just crooks. Fractional reserve banking will show you that. They create `money' out of nothing. Get enough people together and the system will collapse and you'll build something better.

  • how many are we talking about?

  • Thanks for sending me the video :)

What little cash I do have is erm...about my person.

  • haha but all the same, good to keep in mind :-)

  • yeah i agree with you to i think there system is really messed up they just want a one world goverment and we didnt even vote for this! that shows how they manipulate us so much hardly anyone even knows about this amero currency its quite sad really

  • have you heard about the amero do you agree with this?

  • no I do not agree with a single currency for europe or north america

i think it would be fair to introduce a new currency with a gold standard and allow people to choose whether they want to trade in this currency or dollars/euros/ameros etc.

  • no that is treating the symptoms but not the cure. If you really start to look into this you'll see there are many things that are being held back by the bankers. Alternative fuel for one where you don't have to pay for transport, heating and power in any form. The truth is capitalism was always about taking from the other guy and funded by Africa. Humanity needs to grow up and face personal responsibility instead of giving it to politicians and bankers that care little for you.

  • do you prescribe anarchist socialism as the solution?

  • I wonder... if one is permanently overdrawn with an arms investing bank, does that help to reduce the amount of potential money going to arms manufacturers?

I've already claimed all my bank charges back for the last 6 years, but they're stalling with this appeal in the High Court. If the banks win, it will prove that the government (& the judiciary) are in the corporations' pockets! So what's new eh?!

  • yer but either way the public loses because if they do make bank charges illegal the banks will find other ways to fuck us for a buck and increase the margin of interest between investors and investments

being overdrawn at a corporate bank is still to their credit as they can show that they are legally owed X amount of money from you

I have to do another video on banking to explain what goes on here, I have a few that I need to get round to tho ... some economics lessons

  • I havent used a bank in years, i just keep money in my tapedeck, so now you know!

  • cool, whats your address??

  • Okay it's

    R Guiliani,

    The Cribbage

    Rotherham

  • hahahahah

  • Man after my own heart.

  • the co-op is a good bank and not just because they put their customers money in good places, we one of the friendliest banks i know and im not just saying that because i work for them

i have to have my banking with them and when i ring up i can have a laugh with the person on the other end of the phone, which makes any problem i have that little bit better

kudos for promoting the co-ops ethical stance

  • hi and thanks so much for your input, hope to hear more from you in future and continue sharing info!

  • My bank is natwest and they are full of tricks and have stolen my money on many occaisions, the last time I complained to them they called the police and I was arrested because I wanted to interview the manager about it. I have a case going against the police over this right now! The Co-Op sounds a better choice!

  • That's insane man! But I suppose things are pretty much like that here in the US now too.

  • it is the same, check out the links on the side, find an ethical bank suitable to you in the US and move your investment! x

    My advice anyway,

    Love and light!!!

  • Banks have destroyed my credit, and wont even give me a checking account anymore. But it has been a blessing is disguise, as I am much more capable of managing my money responsibly with it not connected to a debit card.

  • good on you, we need to unplug from the fuckers, i'm trying to think up things we can do en masse to make a positive change in this world, take make and throw away can't go on

in years gone by a whole family could get by with one bread winner, now everyone needs to work except for the few rich fuckers at teh top who can just kick back relax and enjoy the luxuries everyone else ahs worked for

  • if you do move your current account to coop you can feel guilt free about your banking

if you have savings i reccomend triodos

  • As are NationWide, which give me free cash withdrawals abroad. pwnz

  • yer but do they make a donation to Oxfam every time you use your debit card? no? what a shame! coop do...

  • HSBC are fine for the moment

  • haha ok suckign satans cock is always your own option :) love love

  • Sad but true. Well put.

  • But best of all you can do something about it, all it takes is a little time and patience, most banks will send you a form allowing them to move all your direct debits etc. for you so that there is no fuss on your part! Check out the links at the side, YOU can make a difference!

  • Fantastic!

  • thanks man great to have you on board, i really want to spred this message, people need to realise they can make a difference by doing NOTHING just by changing their bank

  • I want to see more!

  • more is to come :) what more do you want to see by the way?

  • Yeah... banks suck! Google 'Money as Debt' or 'The Big swindle'. Learn the truth about how you are being robbed blind to enrich criminal scum!

  • i will check ouy the big swindle, there is a link to money as debt in the side bar!

  • W00t

  • w00t you mean w00t??? hehehehe dig the message :) love love :)

  • Thank you for posting such wonderful videos promoting solutions! The revolution will not be televised because it's on youtube:)

  • Thankyou so much for the encouraging comment! I'm hoping to help motivate peopel to take simple actions that will make a difference as well as caring!

Love love, Ant of Revolutionary Jam :)

  • Me 2. We are the only thing that will make a difference.

  • yes and we will, we just need to take appropriate action and stand our ground, together we are strong

  • Totally agree with you now, when u first told me i was a bit unsure but now i totaly understand and all for ethical banking

  • hurrah :D

  • you can check their rates out on the website, there isn't much difference in it when it comes to current accounts anyway which is what i recommend for them

I save with triodos because they have a better record, but i realise i could get a slightly better rate of interest with highstreet banks for my bond.

  • Well done.

  • thankyou

  • Yeah, I agree with what you're saying. You should help me out with this actually.

  • I will, also check out COOPs website, you can ask them to send you info and a form to open and account. They also give you a form to move all your direct debits and such FOR YOU so you don't have to go through any fuss...
