i like vitali but remember lewis took this fight with only 2 weeks notice and was clearly out of shape and was way over his prime and still may hav 1 if the fight continued that says a lot about lewis. I wish there where more fights like this now heavyweight division is so crap klitschko are so much better than the other crappy fighters
Vitali Klitschko retired this bum when the WBC ORDERED a rematch and maintained they would be keeping Vitali as no. 1contender for good reason. Lewis was smart enough to know he met a SUPERIOR athlete who was OUTBOXING him 4 rounds to 2 and OUTLANDING him ALL 6 before a freak cut halted the affair. Plus, VK was still devolping in this fight, only in 3 world title fights compared to 17 for Lewis and still outboxed the Cowardly lion
Lewis won the fight due to a cut, if he thought he could beat him, sure he would have done a rematch, insted Lennox tried to rematch the long time shot Tyson lol.
Klitschko is a KICKBOXER, and that makes all the difference! His stance, the way he punches, it is all typical kickboxing. what makes him a world champ is his tremendous heart, his heavy punches, and his good chin. other than this, he does not have boxing skills the way a world champ should have! No dancing, no head movement, no combination more than 2 or 3 punches, no change of strategy in fight and no defense.
@ghiasuddinalizadeh what r u talking about, are you seeing this fight? kickboxing is a square stance and boxing is a angled stance, klitschko would have gotten knocked out badly if he was boxing in kickboxing stance
I'm not talking about this fight brother, i'm talking in general. kickboxing's influence in klitschko's boxing is obvious to me... if u have experience of the two sports (which seems you have) u know for sure how much they r different, especially in the body movement. when u throw one or two punches in kickboxing, u follow with a kick or two. it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to be a GREAT kickboxer and a GREAT boxer at the same time. btw, u r right abt the ko thing
@ghiasuddinalizadeh well kickboxing punches arent so much different either, pivot and all that shit is the same just depends who your coach is and what kind of fighting hes teaching you, klitschko is european he may seem like hes a transfered kick boxer but its just european style boxing
With his LEFT eye badly traumatised, Vlad maintains ORTHODOX stance which presents that same eye closest for Lennox to strike. If he switches to SOUTHPAW then that presents the untraumatised RIGHT eye closest. But he doesn't. He's not a complete athlete and not a complete professional. He did not deserve to be world champion and was outgamed in a boxing lesson by the real champ, even though the real champ was fighting out of condition.
I used to love Tyson and Lennox, but after THIS there's something fishy in that industry... I don't believe in our boxing anymore, shame on them!!! They played all along.... americans saw Klichko's gash and wanted to see if lennox wins, if not then they could use this excuse that "hey he's seriously injured, he lost". Man it's all bullshit out there for money... I think klichko would wip lennox' ass if the fight continued.... so I believe Klichko is the winner regardless what they say LoL ^_^
I think people mistake his age with Lewis taking thefight at 2 weeks notice... for a world title fight that is very very short notice... I thought Lewis did well considering how out of shape he was...
what's all this crap about old Lewis beating prime vitali? Lewis was at the top of his game in this era. He was a bit heavy in this fight but speed wasn't his thing so increased age and size had less effect than on other boxers. He had vast experience too (listen to Manny telling him to use his experience)
Klitschko did not have the experince and physically was probably not quite at his peak as HWs don't peak til late but kudos to Lewis for working vitali's eye after a slightly fortuitous punch
It was a good shot from Lewis, no doubt about it. It was very fortuitious in that it opened up such a nasty cut, but like I said, hats off to Lewis for exploiting it
are u joking guys fucking hell you guys are dum, lennox is old here and made it out alive he won but he shouldnt have but his not in his prime he has no foot work not as strong or as fast as he used to be

He instead will always be remembered as a bitch who was scared, his legacy as a heavyweight is that of a 2nd rate boxer who never fought anyone who was a real threat and he retired because he is a coward.
@maxawesuse Lennox was at his all-time worst against a prime Vitali, who said himself that he trained so hard for the fight, and Lewis still won, albeit luckily. A disciplined, serious, well-conditioned Lewis, as he certainly would've been for the rematch, would've dominated Vitali. Furthermore, there's a title system that fighters have to work through. Had Tyson beaten Douglass and then Holyfield and then Bowe, he would've fought Lewis in 1992. Lewis sued Tyson for not fighting him in 1996.
@DevilsFan973 What makes you think that Vitali would've KOd Lewis in round 2 of a rematch when Vitali at his best couldn't do it against Lewis at his worst in 6 rounds? Lewis would've trained hard and taken Vitali seriously in a rematch, neither of which he did for this fight which Vitali said that he trained so hard for. Lewis would win by decision or a late stoppage. Vitali was lucky the doc stopped the fight. Lewis had taken the upper hand and Vitali was two rounds away from going blind.
Vitali is such a faggot for kicking Lewis for that accidental fall. Lewis showed he was the much better human that even after that kick, he still helped him up.
I'm Mexican, I'm not European, I'm not British, I'm not Russian.
But I am really open minded because I have a passion for boxing. I don't feel threatened by people from other races, I don't feel threatened by tall guys who are better looking then me, I don't feel threatened by those types of things because they don't matter.
Some people need to stop being keyboard warriors, like the Pacquiao fans, and the idiots who actually think Klitschko would've still had a left eye after this fight.
the commentator is not being unfair. he just commented on what lennox would have thought of his oppenent after this match since lennox was so confident that he can win with ease. truth is bitter than he thought. vitali threw a good fight and he wasnt expected it.
@lembucow I think they were trying to use that to embarrass Lewis. Just because a fighter says to reporters "oh I'll easily beat this guy" doesn't mean he really feels that way. In the post-fight interview, the interviewer says to Lewis something like "you said he couldn't compete with you, what do have to say now". But Lewis answered "Of course he can compete with me, he's the #1 contender."
If he'd seen film of Vitali's fights, he knew he was good; if not, his management is to blame.
@ckj377 You're so right. And in the post-fight interview, what's-his-name was basically trying to embarrass Lewis. I've never understood why the hostility, or at least they should have tried to hide it a little bit.
did anybody notices that the coach in the corner tear the cut open !! it was much smaller before he wipe it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1:24 omg !!!!!!!!! stupid :O
@irfanymeri Tell me, how can something that hasn't happened yet and can't be proven be a fact? In my opinion, Lewis would've trained hard, taken Vitali seriously, and won the rematch.
Odlanier did well in the first round, he got some good movement and some decent punches, But Odlanier did well in the first round and could have won some rounds and maybe even the fight....But he would have had to do some damage. Odlier did well but lost the round b/c hewas knocked down and to win against a champ you have to controll the champion, controll the fight,,Could have been a good fight.. Vitali vs Adamek will be better
"So far Lennox Lewis has yet to land his big right hand. When will it come?" Thanks Larry. I just saw it land 4 times, heavily, in round 3 alone. The commentary in this fight is so ridiculously one sided.
@charlesgoodwin Odlanier did well in the first round, he got some good movement and some decent punches, But Odlanier did well in the first round and could have won some rounds and maybe even the fight....But he would have had to do some damage. It's a shame the weakest punch of the fight ended up doing the most damage. If Lewis hadn't have got that lucky graze above the eye of Vitali, it would have been very difficult for him to have won this fight.
Vitali was better than Lewis that night. It's a shame the weakest punch of the fight ended up doing the most damage. If Lewis hadn't have got that lucky graze above the eye of Vitali, it would have been very difficult for him to have won this fight.

Naw that dude got fucked up. That cut was deep right by his forehead and it was flowing out. He could have lost alot of blood if he got hit with a couple more of those. WHICH HE DID! THEY WERE RIGHT.
If Lewis was not conditioned well like they said he would have never gotten out of round 2. He recuperated well despite the fact that Klitschko was such a big puncher.
@shire2005 There is no question that out of these two, Lewis's punch is far stronger. Just a pity that he came into this fight being fat and unconditioned, else we would have seen a really really good fight.
Fritz sdunek is still Vitalis trainer he is a bad trainer.
(just listen how sdunek shouts to klitschko in german, HIT NOW and fails as soon as he follows sduneks leads) Sduneks boxers were failures.
Like Wladimir used to be. Look how Wladimir Klitschko Imprroved after he changed sdunek and got Emanuel Steward as his new trainer. Sdunek just has kinda luck with Vitali cause he was always a good boxer. Nothing against Sdunek as a person. I m sure he is a nice guy tho.
that and stupid Vitalis corner man a dont care how many fights he saved arturo gatti he took a chunk of vitalis skin handling the cut you can see that after round 3 evan a guy screem Doctor a second after that
@themooddisorders I know it was one bad cut but vitaly was in control of lewis, the black man with the flat nose, who gets overrated to easily. Definately not racist!
lewis doesnt deserve any disrespect for this or for not rematchin
no one disrespected Joe Louis for not rematchin marciano, or ali for not rematchin holmes, or holmes not rematchin tyson or holyfield, or foreman not rematchin holyfield, or hoyfield not rematching lewis again
so why is Lewis gettin shit for not rematchin
the only great who deserves it is marciano for never fightin any young greats to begin with like Patterson, Johansson, or Liston
@bigmoney749 because they way he won a fight he was otherwise losing because his opponent got cut. the other guys you mentioned lost in a regular way.
@bigmoney749 No lewis deserves it because if you look at the records it says Lennox beat vitali by TKO which if you actually watch the fight Lennox got beat up in every round and then when the fight was stopped he acted like he deserved a victory, lets not forget also that Vitali took this fight on only 2 weeks notice putting him a t a great disadvandtage. I f Lewis was the great champ many believe him to be he would have given Vitali a fair chance.
@bigmoney749 "no one disrespected Joe Louis for not rematchin marciano, or ali for not rematchin holmes, or holmes not rematchin tyson or holyfield, or foreman not rematchin holyfield, or hoyfield not rematching lewis again"
This comment makes no sense. Those guys are the losers of the fights, not winners. What you're implying is we shouldn't disrespect Vitali for not rematching Louis...which makes no sense.
A rematch was deserved. It would have happened if Louis was young and didn't retire.
@crazeh That's not what I'm implying. If it was, I woulda said that. Btw Joe Louis died when Vitali was nine so idk what you're talking about. Lennox Lewis was considering a rematch and would've given one if he was younger and given that this was Vitali at his best and Lennox at his worst, I think Lennox would've trained hard and convincingly won the rematch.
@bigmoney749 I know you weren't intentionally trying to imply that, but that's the situation that you described. i.e. not disrespecting the losers for not rematching (Louis was a typo meant Lewis, sorry. i.e. we shouldn't disrespect vitali for not rematching Lewis is what your comparison implied).
Everyone has an opinion on what would have happened in a rematch i.e. the cut saved Lewis, lewis was out of shape or whatever...that's why a rematch would have been good.
Since 9 months ago, you probably received this message a million times.... But I just have to
Why the hell would Joe Lewis rematch Marciano? He got his ass kicked...
In fact everyone on ur list got there ass kicked before losing. Lewis was getting his ass kicked, but he was kicking ass all the same. And after this performance, Vitali deserved a rematch.
Now I'm not it against him that much for not rematch, but ur justification story does help that case whatsoever
@bigmoney749 Oh shut the fuck up with this "Marciano never fighting any young greats". You don't know shit, homie. You think fucking Patterson, at that time, would have been a threat to Marciano?
@bigmoney749 Oh shut the fuck up with this "Marciano never fighting any young greats". You don't know shit, homie. You think fucking Patterson, at that time, would have been a threat to Marciano? And Sonny Liston? You're not too bright. Liston fighting Marciano in 1955 would have been a death sentence for Liston.
@jorgekluney It would be pretty pathetic if rocky at 33 couldn't handle floyd at 21, and who said Rocky would be fighting Liston in 1955? I was thinking more like 1957 or '58, if Rocky hadn't retired to protect his record. But since none of that actually happened, tell me something hotshot. How many good young fighters DID Rocky fight? Rocky was a paper champion who hid behind his record and retired young, just before the young talent of the '60s showed up.
@bigmoney749 what i admire most about this is it shows lewises belive in him self rather than kick vitaly back he pick him up....he just wanted to finsh the fight the proper way!!
@0UTLAW92 You clearly don't know your boxing history as you didn't pick up on the obvious pattern in my comment. Old Louis didn't beat prime Marciano, old Ali didn't beat prime Holmes, old Holmes didn't beat prime Tyson or prime Holyfield, old Foreman didn't beat prime Holyfield, and old Holyfield didn't beat semi-prime Lewis. Point is that no one disrespected them for not trying for another shot and old Lewis DID beat prime Vitali and he's still getting shit for not rematching.
@bigmoney749 Lewis won the fight on a cut while getting beat four rounds to two. Mind you Lewis was losing while Klitschko only had vision from one eye. Lewis retired after he promised a rematch because he was scared.
@bigmoney749@bigmoney749 Man I don't care what these people or person commenting on here... I'm from USA and I used to love Lennox, after this, honestly it's a shame!!! I do not like lennox after this, nor tyson anymore since lennox beat him %) And you need to get your probability straight, because there were champions before doesn't mean that there won't be someone stronger, one day.
@bigmoney749 Emanuel Steward said he LL was in "great shape". Plus, VK was still devolping in this fight, only in 3 world title fights compared to 17 for Lewis and still outboxed the Cowardly lion
at the very beginning if this video u can tell that cut is big trouble for klitschko
i dont get how vitali or anyone else could seriously think that it wouldve been a good idea for the fight to continue into the 7th, let alone thinking that Vitali would win
@VCthaGOATdunker hes Russian what else do you expect. Russia is shithole they can`t even maintain there Nukes without them leaking. So a Russian prick would have no fucking idea what to do when it comes to cuts and shit
@grandfocus Vitali is still going because nobody is bothered about boxing anymore and there is no more talent only bums. So its easy for a 40 year old Vitali to keep going and keep knocking out pointless bums and keep making money. Now if there was still some talent about he would be in a wheel chair with one eye.
@FederalTracks if he didn't feel like a jackass, he fucking should, he kicks his leg out like a fag, just in time for lennox to offer him a hand up... (i am not what you would call a fan of either of these... people)
What a nasty cut... at 1:24 the corner man just made that shit worse. Dang.

Really was a great fight too bad, because of the cut Vitali could have created.
I can well understand why he called the years of Lewis rematch.
But now he should give Solis a rematch that could have been a huge struggle.
Especially since Solis was something even better and a ko was not.
Solis is probably the only one who would have a chance against the Klischkos.

A heavyweight boxer can't damage his legacy by retiring at 38.

lewis is a bitch, lucky for his doctor that stopped the fight. And in the rematch Vitali would have Ko'd him in round 2.
DevilsFan973 7 months ago

Vitali kicks him because if you see closely Lennox hits Vitali near his chin which enrages Vitali at 2:54

Some people need to stop being keyboard warriors, like the Pacquiao fans, and the idiots who actually think Klitschko would've still had a left eye after this fight.

the commentator is not being unfair. he just commented on what lennox would have thought of his oppenent after this match since lennox was so confident that he can win with ease. truth is bitter than he thought. vitali threw a good fight and he wasnt expected it.
lembucow 8 months ago
@lembucow I think they were trying to use that to embarrass Lewis. Just because a fighter says to reporters "oh I'll easily beat this guy" doesn't mean he really feels that way. In the post-fight interview, the interviewer says to Lewis something like "you said he couldn't compete with you, what do have to say now". But Lewis answered "Of course he can compete with me, he's the #1 contender."
If he'd seen film of Vitali's fights, he knew he was good; if not, his management is to blame.

Worst commentators in boxing. You can tell Lampely clearly wanted Vitali to win.

@ckj377 You're so right. And in the post-fight interview, what's-his-name was basically trying to embarrass Lewis. I've never understood why the hostility, or at least they should have tried to hide it a little bit.

A fight with a controversial result for sure. And Lewis' post-fight comments are certainly worthy of a bad guy wrestler.
Klitschko was ahead on points, but Lewis stopped it on cuts.
I consider it a draw!

I m sure he is a nice guy tho.

lewis doesnt deserve any disrespect for this or for not rematchin
no one disrespected Joe Louis for not rematchin marciano, or ali for not rematchin holmes, or holmes not rematchin tyson or holyfield, or foreman not rematchin holyfield, or hoyfield not rematching lewis again
so why is Lewis gettin shit for not rematchin
the only great who deserves it is marciano for never fightin any young greats to begin with like Patterson, Johansson, or Liston
bigmoney749 1 year ago 26
@bigmoney749 sure but i gotta admit lewis was lucky he got cut

@bigmoney749 because they way he won a fight he was otherwise losing because his opponent got cut. the other guys you mentioned lost in a regular way.
ihatebobsaget1989 1 year ago

It would have happened if Louis was young and didn't retire.
crazeh 9 months ago
@crazeh That's not what I'm implying. If it was, I woulda said that. Btw Joe Louis died when Vitali was nine so idk what you're talking about. Lennox Lewis was considering a rematch and would've given one if he was younger and given that this was Vitali at his best and Lennox at his worst, I think Lennox would've trained hard and convincingly won the rematch.
bigmoney749 9 months ago
@bigmoney749 I know you weren't intentionally trying to imply that, but that's the situation that you described. i.e. not disrespecting the losers for not rematching (Louis was a typo meant Lewis, sorry. i.e. we shouldn't disrespect vitali for not rematching Lewis is what your comparison implied).
Everyone has an opinion on what would have happened in a rematch i.e. the cut saved Lewis, lewis was out of shape or whatever...that's why a rematch would have been good.
crazeh 9 months ago
@bigmoney749

Liston fighting Marciano in 1955 would have been a death sentence for Liston.
jorgekluney 9 months ago
@jorgekluney It would be pretty pathetic if rocky at 33 couldn't handle floyd at 21, and who said Rocky would be fighting Liston in 1955? I was thinking more like 1957 or '58, if Rocky hadn't retired to protect his record. But since none of that actually happened, tell me something hotshot. How many good young fighters DID Rocky fight? Rocky was a paper champion who hid behind his record and retired young, just before the young talent of the '60s showed up.

0UTLAW92 7 months ago
@0UTLAW92 You clearly don't know your boxing history as you didn't pick up on the obvious pattern in my comment. Old Louis didn't beat prime Marciano, old Ali didn't beat prime Holmes, old Holmes didn't beat prime Tyson or prime Holyfield, old Foreman didn't beat prime Holyfield, and old Holyfield didn't beat semi-prime Lewis. Point is that no one disrespected them for not trying for another shot and old Lewis DID beat prime Vitali and he's still getting shit for not rematching.
bigmoney749 7 months ago 25
@bigmoney749 Lewis won the fight on a cut while getting beat four rounds to two. Mind you Lewis was losing while Klitschko only had vision from one eye. Lewis retired after he promised a rematch because he was scared.

@bigmoney749 Emanuel Steward said he LL was in "great shape".

@grandfocus Vitali is still going because nobody is bothered about boxing anymore and there is no more talent only bums.
