I have loved Justin Hayward and the Moody Blues since way back in the 60s when I was a starry eyed teenager who believed in the legends of white knights and damsels in distress. The fact that he and they were English only enhanced my attraction to them. Now, all these very many years later, I hear his voice and Im taken back to those years and nothing has changed. The piano and the guitar are superb in this song, but its his rich, resonant voice that got me then and still, gets me now.
I had forgotten how good this song sounds. he has the perfect voice. Im not afraid to say, I have tears in my eyes as iI write this. and I like to think of myself as hard to move in this fashion.
You did a wonderful job on this montage retrolisa ~ thank you! The images remind us all of some place once visited or lived in. For me, it's my home in northeastern Wisconsin and it is that beautiful! Thank you for a tremendous job in sharing your talents while showcasing Justin's. Love the Moodies, and had this CD in my SUV playing since Thanksgiving.
I feel priviliged in my life to have heard such wonderful music as what has been produced by the Moody Blues. No matter what the cynics may say music and wonderful lyrics are still worth more than mere gold. They are timeless.
This is such a lovely video very evocative and haunting. I have only just started listening to this song again after my mum died in October. The song is so beautiful many thanks for posting this video. WONDERFUL!
This song just touches my heart so deeply. The tears just flow when I hear this song!! Justin has such a heart peircing voice. Just beautiful!! What a truly phenomenal man with such a wonderful talent and such a gorgeous, gorgeous man!! ILY Justin!! Forever!! ♥♥
This might be awkward for all the older people that actually grew up with the moody blues,
I'm 16 years old and The Moody Blues ROCK!!! WOOO!!:]
It's sad that most teenagers now a days listen to crap music that talks about sex, drugs, killing...That's not music. thats noise in the background while some retard talking.
WOO!! MOODY BLUES!
It's sad how teenagers today don't listen to music like this anymore...
@16Riviers I'm 16 too, and cause of my dad I got into the Moody Blues, seen them like 2 or 3 times live, they were actually my first concert :-) But now my dad has passed just last december, this song kinda puts it into prospectus, especially since there has been snow in december :)
Thank you retrolisa for your postings. I can't get enough of these wonderful guys!!! This is the first time I've heard anything from this album. I'm fairly new to the internet and finding awsome stuff on the Moodies from great people like you. Please keep finding it!!
I've been a fan since Go Now came out. They are one of the best british bands of all time. sometimes their music makes you want to cry it is so bootifull.
Hi Retrolisa. I just want to thank you for these great custom Moody Blues vids! They represent a lot of work obviously and they really 'touch the heart'. A fitting tribute to an amazing group!
They are not the only band that bridged classical music and rock. Procol Harum, ELO, The Nice, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and the less known New York Rock & Roll Ensemble did so as well
I ntice the credits only list Justin, John, and Graeme. I know Mike left early on, and Patrick Moraz took over, but what happened to Ray Thomas?
I enjoy both the Moodies and the Seekers, and it's really good to hear the Moodies do Christmas songs. Today is my first time to not only hear these songs, but also that they ang these Christmas songs. They are really good.
I've been enjoying this band since the early '70's. Oddly enough, Justin Hayward is not an original member though he made the band what it is today. Denny Laine started the Moody Blues and there big hit was "Go Now". Even Justin said Mike Pinder was probaly the best musician out of them all. Patrick Moraz also did a stint with Yes. We just saw the current lineup of the Moodies and they were great. They have an extra percussionist to help Grahme who is lie 68 now. Still a Great Band
I forgot I commented on this, it was 5 months ago.
From what I understand, the original line up didn't include Justin and John, they first appeared with them in '67. There is a clip here on youtube by NYrainbow, which has the original line up of the Moody's singing Go Now, during the NME awards in 1965. I don't remember the second song, but Ray Thomas was really going for it with his Harmonica.
What happened to Ray Thomas though? He's not listed in the credits.
I always thought Mike Pinder was their best ever. His music is what I miss the most. I have followed them since their Days of Future Past. The only band that bridged classical music with rock. Great band. Thank you for posting.
This is so beautiful. I'm sitting at the computer and there are tears in my eyes. Justin sings so beautifully, and yet he looks so lonely in those pictures. I guess that's why I'm sad. It almost makes me want to be with Justin to comfort him. Thank you, Lisa, for this lovely video. And Merry Christmas!
Lisa, You do such beautiful videos. They are truly a blessing to all of us who just love the Moody Blues. Thank you so much for posting all the wonderful songs and videos. They are really appreciated.
