I first borrowed Desert of the Heart from the tiny library donated to the gay youth group I belonged to. Later, we were very excited to learn it was being made into a movie. We had to go see it! Then I got my own copy of the book, which by that time had a cover commemorating the movie. I was 17. I'm 40 now, and I just reread the book. I'm hoping for the 2 DVD set for Christmas, so I can see the whole movie again. Being out was tough back then, but good things like Desert Hearts happened, too.

Yes, with me seeing DH made me realize I was spinning my wheels with a boyfriend...it made me realize that there was no more time to waste!!  I was about 25 or so..
