@AceInTheWhole94 I agree...you put it in very clear way, I blarged too much, and mostly I"m disappointed because if he didn't rush, Carlos could probably have done a much much better job..but to repeat, he's not a rocker and that counts...he destroys AC\DC and in interview admits he had never heard the song, so why do it? As for Zep, good lesson for other bands to leave the sacred stuff alone...you just can't touch this, on any level..it fucking Led Zeppelin..

I think Led Zeppelin's artwork shouldn't be touched. This version is horrible, even if I consider Santana and Chris Cornell as great musicians. I definitely prefer Led Zeppelin's version, the originals.

BTW, real waste of Chris Cornell, must have rushed production, Chris is our best hard rock singer when he wants to be, seen him many times, but he doesn't kill it here.too bad, always thought with Chris you'd have Plant's replacement, but truth is even though Bonham was their secret weapon, no one ever came close to early Plant, and with that band, sorry you never saw them...they played and played till you couldn't stand up and wanted to collapse..best band of all time

@Desperationemal by 20 he played on over 100 charted songs, many in US, got bored with sessions ( with bass of God JPJ) he joined Yardbirds to get back on road. New Yardbirds become Zep.. Woodstock was great, I went for Jimi, Zep II is all over world, by 70 they're filing 70,000 seaters. Santana, good band covered BMWoman, never that big until his one grammy cd, I am a rocker..Carlos is not and that's why this track sucks...but I'd bet Page could play any Santana song with more feel than CS

I saw Woodstock, The Lain vibe was cool, but with Jimi, Page,Beck, Townsend, ,West,Winter,Clapton, I didn't think much of his playing then nor through his whole career. A little secret to appreciate a cover version:

1) not to complain because it's not what you expected, not how you wanted it to be;

2) not to complain because it's not _identical_ to the original. It needn't be identical to be respectful of the original.

The only complaint I have is that it's far too short, and it's a shame and it's irritating. I suppose it was to please the record company, but great artists ought not to care.
