  • Actually they are Australian breed they mixed collies and a Shepard breed in the early 1870s when the English colonized Australia

  • I have a sweet little australian shepherd named cooper, and however I don't use him for herding or work, but he is DEFINITELY a busy dog. I like to throw his toys out in the back yard for him to run and fetch, but he doesn't bring them back to me. I basically chase him until one of us gets too tired, and then he'll go do something else. We also have an english setter, who when standing idly, cooper likes to "herd" her. Instincts, lol. He's skittish about fireworks though.

  • by far the most intelligent dog I've ever had...

  • Mine is 2 years old about to be 3 in January :( Blue Merle brown and blue eyes I love her so much! so loyal, smart, so willing to please!! By far so much easier to train than my blue heeler! love them both though. They are both smart willing and kind.

  • My 6 months old Kuvasz pup's best neighbourhood friend is a 3 year old female Australian Shepherd. She has energy of a puppy, because of which the two get along really well. She is owned by a retired but a healthy gentleman. I do see her sometime causing trouble to him while on the walk, but generally, she is very well behaved. She only jumps at him, when the gentleman pauses for a break or to talk to someone.

  • My Australian Shepard is 2 years old and is black and white with no tail

  • Can anyone offer some advice on how to curb my aussie from herding my cats and nipping their necks during play. She is a red-tri, 11 weeks old. One cat is very docile and only once in a while, swats backs, to which my pup will back off, but it's not often enough and furthermore, I don't know for how long my cat's scolding will actually curb the behavior as my pup gets older. I'd really appreciate any advice... Thanks in advance :)

  • @MsCheddarBear I know this may sound a little agressive. But this really does work. Put the cat and dog together (not to big of room). When your dog starts trying to herd/nip at the cat grab your puppy by the neck and pull him/her toward you and give a little shake and say "NO!" sternly. My 1 of the 2 aussies that I have do the same thing, but I have done this a few times and hes starting to understand that it is not an okay behaviour to herd and nip at a cat and that they arnt bred for herd cat

  • @Kjordanov98 Great, thanks for the advice. I have been using this technique for the most part, although I haven't been grabbing her, more so stepping in front and loud clapping with a stern "NO!" or "EH!" sound. She is distracted but I have to admit, this does not stop her from chasing the cats when they cross her path. I suppose it's a work in progress, but I do fear her puppy snaggle teeth will do some damage. I watch her like a hawk! I'll try the grab & shake technique now! Thanks!

  • @MsCheddarBear No problem. Good luck with your pup!

  • You can't have just one! I have 2 Aussies, A black Tri at that is 2, and a Red Tri that is 10 months old, both males. Exercise and training make them Happy Happy Happy!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome dogs if you are pepared to give them what they need. they give it back 10 fold!!!!!!!!!

  • /watch?v=-XAIU5m80tg

  • I've got three Aussies, had four, but my beloved "Dumpling Dough" passed away at the age of 12 to cancer. He was the love of my life and my shadow dog. He wanted to be under my skin. Any Aussie owner will know exactly what I'm talking about : )

  • I have 3 Aussies there a lot of fun:)

  • My parents have several acres of very secluded Oregon forest (borders with national forest) and they have an Australian Shepherd. I visit occasionally and it always remembers me and accompanies me on any walk through the forest I take. It has SUCH a strong bond with the family. SO high energy too. Watching him get to a full sprint and super man jump off of a log and launching like 15 feet through the air is a sight to see. He's like wonder dog! ... He also chases birds.

  • My Pancho is my 3rd Aussie, and this video is pretty much in line w/my experience. rule of thumb: A bored Aussie is a bad Aussie. Leave one alone, and they'll take the initiative and find a project to take on. Mine unstuffs my couch cushions for me. Great dogs given a lot of activity, lot of mental engagement and lot of attention. Since they're always doing something, it's relatively easy to reinforce desirable behavior and correct bad behavior. If you don't put the time in, it wont work for you

  • Stella, you're right, but talking to an ASCA boofball snob is like talking to a wall. The original Aussie in North America was 25-28 lbs, agile, and smart. Now, thanks to the miracle of "breed club standards" we have Aussies running 45-60 lbs that (comparatively speaking) can't get out of their own way. Just inconvenient to breeders of show lines charging $900/pet -quality pup that its AS possible to breed small Aussies to small Aussies to get small Aussies, and some ppl like them that way.

  • Cannot help but smile everytime an aussie is working. Love those dogs. I had two until recently, we lost a 10yr old girl just recently. RIP Abby.

  • I love my Aussie and enjo679, some Aussies are born with bobbed tails. so it is not always cruel and at that young of age they dont remember because they have to be bobbed withing 48 hours or 72 something like that or vets wont do it.

But I love my aussie she is my best friend and I love her very much she is very smart knows obedience and agility and loves to run with our Australian Cattle Dog and play with the sheep and horse. She loves cats as she has been around them since 6wks

  • I love my Aussie and enjo679, some Aussies are born with bobbed tails. so it is not always cruel and at that young of age they dont remember because they have to be bobbed withing 48 hours or 72 something like that or vets wont do it.

  • i wouldnt suggest gettin a bobbed tail aussie its just kinda creul and it like sort of supporting more aussies to have a bobbed tail especially if you own a aussie for companionship purposes and having a family dog there really should be no reason to get a bobbed aussie its sad

  • my shepherd is afraid of sheeps and other creatures except dogs and cats..

    O.o

  • @Magnusguld Sounds like a chicken in a dogs body :P :D

  • I agree im 16 years old now i have had my Aussie since she was 13 weeks old boy was she a handful she is 2 years old now and is still very much a puppy, she always follows her nose and doesn't listen when i call her to come back i do not have a fenced in yard she is older so things have gotten better but it was very frustrating, and still is.I live on 10 acers this dog is NEVER tired she's always ready to play. They are to smart for their own good,"ohh" the thing she ate when she was a puppy

  • We got a black tri miniature Aussie. I swear he is just the cutest thing ever!! VEEEERY energetic but he will be a lap dog sometimes. They are by far the most adorable dogs eveeer.

  • This guys a douchebag ! I own an aussie. I've tracked their genes more into Germany than to Spain. And Aussies (depending on the individual)will differ in their need for extensive outdoor work. He is generalizing the breed's more instinctual aspects, and honestly isn't really that knowledgable of the breed today (21st century). Aussies are being overbred, but one thing doesn't change, their a family oriented, intelligent breed. Sorry for my spelling, my blue merle and I have had a couple ales.

  • I don't see his logic. He said because they are working dogs they are healthy?

  • @HowToGetFreebies Working dogs in general are healthier than dogs who are only bred for looks or for the show ring, simply because they are bred to do things physical, so an unhealthy dog will not succeed and will likely not be put back in the gene pool (allowed to breed) whereas the show/companion dogs are bred mostly for looks, so a fault in their health may be overlooked because they are particularly beautiful, meaning hereditary diseases are often passed on.

  • My neighbours had a Bernese & I thought I'd never see any cuter dog.

Now they got an aussie & I am like...

    GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEF IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEH! >_<

  • Just got a 5mo blue merle male. At his young age, Im his 4th or 5th owner. Everyone prior to me tried to keep him in a small apt, and they were gone all day. Now he has a forever home, 14 acres to run, and various animals to herd. Dont have a clue what his misdeeds (lol) were at the previous homes, but here hes perfect. :-)

  • we have a 5 month mini aussie. blue merle. WALLY <3. can't think of a single thing that he could improve on. learns tricks and obedience sometimes within a few mins, sometimes it takes a couple days. "talks" with his eyes. very attentive and communicates intelligently. take him to the dog park as often as he has the energy for - which is almost daily and he usually gets a good 2 hours there. they always want to have access to "their people and require a lot of time and attention/tlc.

  • I have an Aussie that I'm trying to restore I think she is kind old but she has never been exercised and not taken care of so I'm gonna turn her into a show dog and win some money!!yeaaaaa boi

  • i have an aussie shep mix that we got at the pound and she is the most beautiful dog ever! she is grey with black spots and is fluffy soft. fluffiest, softest, cutest doggy ever.

  • Yeah if you work an Aussie for the right amount of time they will sleep for two days... We take ours (Chili) to the dog park on Friday for an hour and a half, then to an indoor dog play area on Saturday, and back to the dog park on monday... with evening walks which are fairly slow paced since he's usually beat by then. But when we leave him alone after that... he sleeps the whole time. But you MUST MUST MUST work them physically and mentally!

  • Real quick. I have 3 mid size dogs all rescues. One being an Australian Shepherd.

He being my 6th dog and first Aussie. He, I hate to say is my favorite. The personality

is beyond huge, makes me laugh and smile all the time. Always by my feet but never under them. I highly recommend this breed if you can make time for them which I can. This dog by far stole my heart from day one. Was that quick?

  • I have one of these! Well actually its technically my cousins but i visit often and the dog loves me so i consider him my pet too pretty much

  • I have a beautiful Blue Merle, 12 years old. Rescuing him, was the BEST thing I ever did! He is affectionately referred to has "the love hog". I can't say enough wonderful things about him and the breed in general.

  • How are the mini aussies around chickens and goats? I don't want a 'nipper'. If they are 'bird' dogs then one won't work. My small hobby farm is growing and I need a dog soon but I'm not sure about dogs. Need a smart protector/herd dog. Suggestions are very welcome!

  • @HvensFury

there is really no "mini" aussie. Mini's usually have a shelty somewhere in the gene pool.

being a "nipper" is dependant on your training, not the dog breed.

They are Herding dogs, not bird dogs, and I think the chickens and goats would provide them much of the mental and physical stimulation they need.

Australian shep is the best dog i ever owned.

  • @waterkeeper03 I must disagree with your statement that there is no mini aussie and that they have shelty in the gene pool. Originally Aussies were smaller dogs and were bred larger to cope with herding cattle. A mini is just a smaller Aussie, between 14-18 inches at the shoulder. There a lot of well recognized breeders in the States breeding these dogs.

  • @Stellamust I'm not saying there def is Shetland in the gene.

there are also a lot of well recognized breeders spitting out "Teacup" chihuahuas and "toy" yorkies... doesn't make them real or legit. absolutely NO ONE from UKC to AKC to ASCA accepts the classification of "MINI" Australian Shepherd. the idea of a MINI working or herding dog is ridiculous and nobody with a knowledge of dog terminology would accept it.

it's either an Aussie or not, no matter if it fits the standard, or not.

  • @HvensFury You could look at the English Shepherd breed. Some people cross them with Aussies. Each dog should be assessed on their individual abilities from a young age with a responsible breeder as to their herding instincts.

  • I want one of this.. I'll call my friend right now via 1800mumdad we will get one of this Australian shepherd.

  • Aussies are awesome. Have not had anything else since 1990. One was all it took. Please, those interested in them, just remember there is NO SUCH THING as a "mini" or "toy" Aussie. Neither the Australian Shepherd Club nor the USASA or AKC recognize such dogs that are not bred to standards. To breed a mini is against the ethics.

  • I have a dog named pepper, hes an australian sheperd also hes 2 years old hes an awesome palyful dog & also an awesome watchdog..........

  • i have an aussie her name is peaches. she isnt a very social dog

  • so must you always work with an aussie? They're not a dog for walking and family? It always needs extensive exercise?

  • God my Australian shepherd is fat; we left her at my grandpa and grandmas house in California and they fed her to damn much and now I'm pissed.

  • Omg this is my favorite breed ever !

But I'm getting a shih tzu

cause my mother dont like big dogs ..

Later I'll get an Aussie that's for sure !

  • lol and aussie isn't a big dog tho

  • I love my Aussie and found this very informative. Thank you!

  • i LOVE my australian shepard <3 100% not a mix. all black, 6 years old, girl she is my LiFE.

  • I have a australian shepered. he is 2 years old. his name is Pepper. he is a boy.

  • my dog is a border collie. im looking for another dog. is a australian shepard good? what kind of dog would she do good with? ... please answere me on my channel... i wont read it here! help! i want a medium , nice, smart, fast agility dog so they can compete together! thank you so much! ... oh and i want to promote rescueing dogs from the shelter! i adopted her- great as any other purebred puppy ive ever had!

  • @98mrsjustinbieber well, border collies and australian shepards are in the same family ;D [both herding dogs] so she would probably be good friends with her/him .

  • oen thing they can shead my austrailin sheapord sheads alot!

  • Hello! Very good video. Yes, they are a good breed. I have a question. Can dogs live longer than 10 years old?

  • @LPSgirlSHK they can indeed some liove up to 15

  • @LPSgirlSHK they cna but it matters waht breeed and waht kind of health issues it can get

  • Well, we have 2 dogs. One is mixed breed between pugs, jack russels, and all sorts of small dogs. And the other is a chocolate lab. I'm not exactly sure how long they're supposed to live.

  • @LPSgirlSHK or yeah every dog that i've had lived way longer than 10!

  • =) I have an aussie/beagle mix and he fits this description to a T. He can jumps higher than any other dog I have ever seen and he 'works' for everything-by his own choice. He has made his own games out even getting food. He just loves to work. He has the body of an Aussie and the markings of a beagle...just wonderful!

  • i had one when i was young and one of my strongest memories is of how in the evenings we'd let him outside and he'd run EVERYWHERE. and as fast as he could too. he was still active and playful into his old age. they're amazing family dogs if you have a big yard to let them run around in.

  • Beautiful dogs only minus for me is the tail i like dogs with long tails... but my fav dog!

  • If i'm not mistaken one of if not the oldest dog was an Aussie, My dream Aussie is a Blue Merrill but I got a 3yr old Black & Tan male named "Rounder" for free on 1-5-10. He already obey's the sit, down, and stay commands, He is also kennel trained already praise God because he already had dug out a whole and escaped twice before I found out he was kennel trained, I was thinking about giving him back becaue my Jack Russel followed him out of my yard, but it's fine now and now it's time to train.

  • No. Oldest dog on record, unless it has changed recently, was an Australian Cattle Dog - 29 years old. I'm not much of an Aussie fan. Love the merle pattern - especially a chocolate or red - but persona wise, not my kind of dog. Nothing against those who have them, but I've never been impressed by an Aussie.

  • I just got my first aussie today!!! HE's so beautiful I'm totally in love LOL 8 weeks old name is Comet. Blue Merle he is just gorgeous! He will already fetch a frisbee and bring it back at 8 weeks!

  • @Txshizzle

let me guess though, its his third Frisbee? Hehe, have fun. Hope your (not his) training goes okay. (j/king)

Mine lets me use the internet and has a rotty girlfriend. I rescued him...

  • this guy has done wayyyyy too much acid

  • im just wondering why he is as aggressive towards others as he is. we had to get rid of our other dog bc he would attack my aussie would attack him. if anyone comes over he tries to attack unless its the family. we have tried to break that but no luck

  • @angeloffire08 totally me too i guess it's an aussie thing. what does your dog like? does he hate the doorbell? If so make sure nobody rings the doorbell. My aussie like cheese so when someone comes over we stuff a piece of cheese in their hand and he loves them!

  • some of the things said arent quite true. my aussie loves to play but he doesnt like goin outside. he isnt to fond of learning new tricks, he is very stubborn. he is full aussie too. he is very protective of the family, and aggressive about his terrotory

  • well, each dog has its own personality, so it's not uncommon for individuals to behave differently.

  • im getting one this Christmas!!!

  • i have 2 Australian shepherds, there so much fun!!!!

  • I have an Aussie/border collie mix. He is very intelligent; knows basic obedience plus shake paw, wave, bow, spin, and some send out commands. I also have a purebred border collie who is 5 months old and a purebred German shorthaired pointer who is 2 years old.

  • i have 1! :D she thinks shes a lap dog lol...

  • I want to go home to see my dog now...

  • I have a aussie/beagal mix. His name is Charlie. I got him as a stray I found and learned the bred when I took him to the vet. I love him soooo much. He is a handful, but shows my whole family how much he loves us. He walks me to the car every morning and greets me every evening when I return. Loves to play. The only thing he likes more than playing it eating. Boy can he eat.

  • We just got one about 5 months ago, and his energy is unbelievable. We have a Great Dane as well, and the Aussie gives her no rest at all, constantly wanting to play.

  • my friend had a aussie, he was sooooo cute, they put him sleep his name was rocky and he was sooo loveable

  • i love my aussie to death!!!!!

  • I used to have an Aussie, a blue merle type. He was 6 months old when he was brought from the U.S. I just wish my family and I'd had better knowledge about this kind of dogs. He was my best friend for more than 13 years.

    - Thank you for being a good friend to us, Floppy (1989-2002).

  • Sorry about Floppy...Aussies are the best...just had to put mine down due to seizures...they finally got her after a good 10 year fight...RIP my sweet little Flower!

  • ,,,smartest dog I have ever had!

  • i have a one but the ears pointy

  • they are americain, gros cave

  • I volunteer for Aussie Rescue in Michigan.

    Everything he said is true.

Don't get an Aussie if you are not prepared to exercise it. They are high maintenance dogs.

  • @chetzmom How are they with cats? My daughter is hounding me for an Aussie and I do not want to be unfair to either the cats or the dog. The cats are about 2 yrs old and I would prefer an Aussie puppie to train him to live with the cats

  • @592220 I had one from a pup (for 12 years- still miss him). We had 2 cats when we got him. Exposing them young is really the key.

He was fine with the cats. These dogs are really people focused & care more about the humans in the house than anything else. He only paid attention to the cats when they were running around & then his herding instinct kicked in. He would chase them, if he saw them running but never, ever tried to hurt them.

  • @kahsse Thank you for replying. I think that may be the key with animals is to train them when they are young. My main concern are the cats as they are comfortable, they are content and I don't want them afraid to live in their own house. We have an acre of land and a pool so perhaps it's time to take the plunge!

  • I like Australain Cattle Dogs WAY more than these. They seem pretty much the same, just that these look like a border collies. I think they both are just as smart.

  • @RunningWolfProductin well . Australian Shepard's and Border Collies are both herding dogs, their in the same family, so is a Australian Cattle Dog . -__-

  • Obviously

  • @RunningWolfProductin aussie's are way more pretty the cattle dogs look like over sized rats!

  • i just bought a nice blue merle with 2 blues eyes. love him to death

  • whats the difference between a australian sheperd and a boarder collie?

  • @Tylerunderfire the tail that is about it

  • i have 2 aussies!!!

  • Does anyone else have an aussie with multicolored eyes?

  • My Aussie has brown eyes, but in his right eye there are flecks of blue.

  • my aussie never got her color because she had babies when she was practically a baby. shes pure white with a bi g black spot on her bum and black on both sdes of her head.

  • aww i have an ausrailian shepered. she is trained, too!! i just tought her how to speak and spin!! :)!! she was a police dog but, didnt lik it to much. even when she was she was still very friendly and cute!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have 2 austalian shepherds

  • I should coco!!!

My Australian Shepherd rescue is an extremely adept hunder of pheasants! I hope you've got lots of room for hanging game!!!

  • Just realised I'm logged in as my friend's son.... I'm not really reece411somp!

  • I ADORE this breed!!!

  • Haha, I don't know, they aren't very floppy-lipped so they'd probably ruin the bird, but agility wise they ought to be good.

  • Aaargh, how infuriating. Australia has had Aussies for 50+ years, not the 'last few years'.

  • Arrrgh, not entirely correct. Australian shepherds got their name as the breed was developed from Border Collies, Smithfields and such, these early crosses came to Australia and were further developed for herding, then went to America where the breed was refined to a standard.

  • i got 3 aussies one mom and two of her last litter :p

  • I don't have one Australian Shepherd i have two and their wonderful dogs and I just love them!! You wouldn't understand how much I love these dogs...

  • i have a assuie named pirate i have a huge back yard and we go on walks everyday and tons of playing in the back yard he is so smart and we taught him to sit and shacke and do other paw and a whole bunch more and he learned them so fast we love his color but we wish he had to different colored eyes but he still rocks thanks for the info i will share it with my dad

  • I had an Australian Shepherd in my life for 13 years dating back to 1985, his name was "Rooks", and he was fantastic, I miss him a great deal, next dog I get, I'll be hard-pressed not to get another "Aussie", they are absolutely wonderful dogs!

  • how much are this?

  • mine cost 350. they vary

  • thanks this guy is selling them for 50 and he says ther australian sheperds but the price is just too fishy shoul i buy or pass he also sells german sheperds for 500 wich is wierd

  • that does seem a little fishy if its pure bred. my pure bred cost 250. thats a little weird. is he a known breeder? see if you can talk to anyone he has sold to. if not, then i would find a breeder who is well known for giving you the dog he says he's giving you. but, if your not too concerned with it being pure bred, meaning it may be a mix, then i;d go for it. but always ask to see the parents! and check out any dogs he has on his lot to make sure they are well taken care of

  • @XKEITHNJX i got mine for 50 bucks!

  • @12MacBaby i hope he's not inbred :/

  • my mini aussie max was rescued from a puppy mill(we are not sure though he was 3 months old when we got him) and was going to be put down by some very mean people. I am trying to train him but he just cowers we've never yelled or anything. Its just sad that somebody abused him and prevented him from reaching his full potential. He has made progress he will do basics like sit, shake, laydown.

  • super schön das video

  • I have an aussi named Bindi, she is always at my side and lives to please me although sometimes she thinks she is being sneaky!!! She is the best dog I have ever had

  • I dont have an aussie, she has me ;-)

  • billy, my ausie is the sh*t. very obedient and disciplined. far more agile and fast than your lame generic stereotypical boxer and pits. he can out run and jump those stupid meat head dogs.

  • The Shepherd swains shall dance and sing

    For thy delight each May-morning:

If these delights thy mind may move,

Then live with me and be my love.

  • Greetings from Germany !

    Aussie Finja

  • i have one his names earl hes a cyote fighter

  • We own a shepherd now. A black and white female, 7 weeks old, so cute. We named her Bonnie. And yes, I noticed already she likes to "herd" people. LOL.

  • I remember back a long time ago, I had my Australian shepherd bred with a Dingo (the dingo was raised from birth) The puppies were most definately a handful! But, they love to play fetch with a frisbee, and they love it whenever I kick a soccerball towards them so they can chase it. Out here on my farm was probably the best place to raise them. They love the open space, all of the activities, and a ton of love. :) They're definately beautiful dogs.

  • I have an aussie, a red mural named copper. hes verry active

  • i want another A shepherd. i had one as a little kid, he used to try and herd me by nipping at my heels.. until i stopped abruptly one day...

  • i love the colors of thse dogs so much they won they eukanueba championship they r so beautiful anyone know where i can get one im in georgia

  • yeah, they are beautiful. i know it is not really my business, but before you decide to get one, do a bunch of studying. they are great dogs, but make sure you have the time/ability to handle their energy and strong will and also give them a great life. they will not be happy as an apartment pups. also, they can be a tad nippy if you have kids. but for the sake of the dog, please do research. so sad how many dogs r given up by people, not that you are one of those people!! but as you probably no

  • I have an aussie. His name is Shiloh. He's good with cats and he learns quickly. He EXTREMELY smart but he can be a handful at times.

  • Yeah, keeping them busy is the only tough part. They're work dogs, so giving them something to focus on helps. We trained ours to retrieve the paper, for example. His whole afternoon is built around that task. It keeps him happy and occupied.

Other than that, just make sure they get enough exercise and you're cool.

  • @puppytrails2121 my aussie hates cats! he goes nuts if one passes the window 200 ft away!

  • I have had three aussie's One died last year when he was just a pup :'( he was perfect. and now I have two trouble makers cooper and candy the aussies

  • I have a mini aussie(25-30lbs). Smart, smart, smart breed with a lot of energy. Always waiting for commands and eager to please.

  • I have a video on youtube of my friends austrailian shepherd/dalmation mix he is so cute though he has to much of the dalmation excitment and they having hard time controling him in the video i have the aussi shepherd mix breaks the leash and runs with the other dogs of leash :P check out my channel

  • I just adopted an Aussie/Border Collie mix. My two favorite dogs wrapped in one. It doesn't get any better than a working dog, as long as you have the time.

  • Very informative Vid!

Sadly a friend of mine is desperately looking for her Aussie "Cassie". Cassie got lost on February 25th and hasn't found her way home yet. Anyone who lives in Germany near Leipzig, please keep your eyes open and keep your fingers crossed that we will find her soon!

  • aussies are very good dogs but as he stated many people come home with an aussie puppy but when that puppy is bigger the people do not take care of them and so they surrender them to rescues.

please make sure to do research before you buy a new puppy. I hate seeing such a beautiful breed being in rescues all the time. :[

  • i hope that they dont show them alot in the dog show bcause i luv the austrailian sheperd because they are tuff and smart and sweet!! (most of the time)

  • there are sooooooooooooo cute i gona buy it when my little brother Leo Andre learn walk good

  • I am always very careful to make sure that I warn people of the many many hours of work it took to make my Aussie the wonderful well behaved dog that everyone falls in love with. She goes everywhere with me, makes many friends, and exhausts many strangers' kids. Would't trade her for the world.

  • I came to check out this breed all because of Stains, the Cupcake Dog. <3

  • exactly the same reason i did too

  • my aussie attacks baskets, pots, and logs lol

  • I love my aussie<3

  • Just a little fact for you, Aussies have been in Australia for 20 yrs now and have had their own registed breed club for 10 yrs.

Great vid though. Very informative , thanks

  • Great info/overview. My last Aussie only made it 11 years, unfortunately, but broke my heart when he had to be put to sleep. Got me hooked though. Current Aussie is the Aussie they always warn you about! What a spitfire! But she loves agility, is a therapy dog, sweet and as smart as can be, incredible dog. I always have to remind people that they're seeing the result of a LOT of work with her, and she's a full-time companion, (not a hampster I pay attention to every once in a while).

  • my aussie herds my goats and does a great job :)

  • I had always heard that these dogs were brought from the Island of Basque through Australia - I cal my Aussie a "Basquet Case"!

  • im getting on eof these for christmas!

  • my Australian Shepard is great too it knos bye bye go to bed outside sit speak all of it i love her

  • I just bought a Red-Tri Shepherd. She is great, 10 weeks old and I have trained her to come, sit, stay, home, up,down and fetch in 1 week. She is semi potty trained also. She is super smart!!!! We run with her an hour everyday, and she is great!!! we have to teach her not to eat everything in the house, since she is in puppy teething mode, but that will pass.

  • I actually have one this guys rock very clever and

  • I love my Aussie, Rio. He's...well, unique. The poor baby is scared of everything possible. We have another dog who exercises Rio. I play with him a little every day. He doesn't exactly understand the concepts of "Tug-a-war" or "Fetch". If you toss a ball, he'll just grab it and drop it. He doesn't pull whenever you play tug-a-war with him. :D

  • He understands fine, he's just not playing the game you want him to...

  • you don't have to jog with it. you can play fetch now and than. tug of war and other stuff. just whatch out. they shed A LOT!!!

  • you cant just "play fetch now and then" they need constant exersize or they will get into trouble. if you are questionable, dont get one. get a low energy dog like a french bull dog or some snippy bitch dog like that.

  • My Aussie is so sweet and really well- behaved. Except she digs holes all the time! She even puts things over the holes to hide them so she wont get in trouble! Does this happen to anyone eles?

  • yup, now i study in sweden though, but my parents still have them in switzerland (one tri red and one black) liza&roxy. both used to dig, but it wasnt too often

  • @Srk08 yes you have to watch your feet at our house meaning the holes!

  • i have a aussis that is named missy and dose she shed! but she such a love!

  • I'm so freaked out! My Dog is an aussie and her name is missy too! She's a sweetheart!

  • True! all true

  • i have two mini aussies =] i used to have a standard aussie

  • they truly are worker-dogs!
