Reading various comments accomniying Ms. Pinto, I've learnt that two hang-ups of Indians are...skin colour and the English language. Do they indicate someone's place in the caste system or something?? Fair-skin and a good command of English denote a higher caste?? Is that why Indians are harping on her English and skin colour??

She has a very charming gentle face. Hope she keeps working in Hollywood, away from people eager to point out how dark she is or whatever. Wishing her all the best.

@Falooda87 lol I couldn't agree more. I heard from a lot of my Indian friends that although a well known actress in India, she is super hated for being very fake. India is a pretty competitive country from what I gather (due to the number of people there) and its a crabs in the bucket type of situation there. Whenever one person makes it big, others immediately try to pull them down.

@Falooda87 Freida Pinto is ugly compared to many other beautiful Indian actresses including Aishwarya. When i first saw 'Slumdog' i went "i can't believe she is in a movie because she looks like an ordinary,average Indian girl, she does not have the kind of beauty an actress should have". I don't know why Western guys are salivating over how "gorgeous" she is, maybe the concept of beauty is different in different regions.

If you compare her to Rani Mukherjee who is also not very 'fair skinned', her face is absolutely gorgeous and is probably one of the most beautiful actresses despite the fact that she is somewhat shorter than many of the other actresses around.
