@demonlord379 Thanks for asking if we ever got the house finished. The main floor is almost done. We've saved the most expensive projects for last (kitchen/bath). Got financially sidetracked by having to put on a new roof. Ouch.
no twosock it depends on the type of cockatoo you get. My cockatoo is great her name is Jasmine she doesnt scream cause we dont give her the opportunity to. And hse doesnt bit cause we dont give her the opportunity to do that either. And about the strong beack thing.... it depends on the cockatoo my sulfer crested cockatoo's beack really isnt that big so...
HAHA and that lady that replied to you comment even said that cosmo didnt do thhat to the door they did! HAHA
About the wood, I find If you carefully remove all the woodwork in the room and mark the back, so you know where it goes back. The stripping is easier and it comes out better. This way you also have a chance to skim coat the walls with plaster, and make those new as well before you reinstall your perfectly stripped and finished moldings. I do this for a living. I also have a Macaw named Charlie and a Grey named Woody. I hope I was some help to you. Brahm
I see you have a Bob Elgas print in the back. The Hyacinths. I have the same print.
Have the one with the two scarlets too. We have two of the baby's (now 11 years old) from a clutch from those scarlets he painted. I love his work. Love Cosmo!
Cosmo is one cool bird! I have an M2 that when we first had him, I wasn't paying attention when he was hopping around and I found him eating the top of a kitchen drawer like it was an ear of corn!
Song is Salt N pepper Push it .. and he already says its a Moluccan Cockatoo .. love 2's so sweet .. and the love dancing have a u2 myself and he loves having a rock out .. daily !
According to the 04.30.09 nbc Nightly News, there was a Harvard study on 20 different types of parrots and it found that they all have rythmn. Big surprise there, right? Unfortunately, that same study revealed that cats and dogs have absolutely no rythmn. oh well, what u gonna do.
Cockatoo's are great birds but not ideal first birds, they can be REALLY loud and can be heard screaming up to 2 miles away.. personally i love them as they have so much personality but as u can see from the video that guys door frame. their beaks are super strong and they can make matchsticks from even the hardest wood..
Just to be fair to Cosmo, the door frame looks like that because it's a 100+ year old house, and we were in the midst of refinishing the woodwork when the video was made. He didn't do that: We did. LOL!
So cute! Glad you can say that about your woodwork... :) I also have a M2 - (Moluccan - (birdie lingo)) Jasmine, she loves to anything with a strong beat. As for the woodwork, well, we just call her the "chipper". Anything within beak reach is fair game. If it's there, shame on me.
i know what you mean! i also enjoy when i see someone else who has the neck chewed out of their shirts too! it makes me happy im not the only one with a bird who likes to hitch a ride in my shirt and have a snack on it as well lol
LOL - My African Gray loves Cosmo! This is her favorite video. I learned how to start a playlist for her and she goes NUTS when Cosmo shakes a tailfeather! Thanks for posting this!
LOL Tim! Actually, WE did the job on the woodwork. It's a 100 year old house, and we've been stripping 20 or so layers of paint off all the lovely oak.
An awesome Cosmo Vid! Cosmo rules and I should know 'cuz I'm a personal friend of his and I even have the honor of live performances!!! Push it Cosmo!
You're SO right! Compared to his usual antics, this vid is pretty low-key. When he dances to Elvis, he even swivels his hips. LOL! And he gets into headbanging for Bohemian Rhapsody. I love my sweetie boy :-)

Do you think a cockatoo could be trained to chew up the wood you give him to chew up but not the furniture?

@RebelwithMacaws That's a great print, isn't it? I raised a Hyacinth baby for the Toledo Zoo, and they gave me the print.

I have a question. Did you teach Cosmo to dance? Or did he just started to do it when the music came on?
taikoking 4 years ago
Cockatoos just seem to have darn good rhythm and a burning desire to shake their cute little feathered booties :-)
The most I've ever done is encourage him. He's very driven to make me laugh and clap, so that makes him dance all the more.
