What is the purpose of a Chataf Patach. If it sounds the same as a regular patach whats the point. Do you cover this in later vids? And why were the Kamatz and the Patach created by the Rabbis if they both are (Ah) ??? Is this covered in later videos? Do the Kamatz and the Patach apply to different types of words. Whats the rule?
Generally, it depends upon one's pronunciation. Technically, the Patach by itself would sound like the "a" in "bat" and the chataf patach would sound like the "a" in "amuse".
If you are interested in further study, I would highly recommend "Basics of Biblical Hebrew Grammar" by Gary Pratico and Miles Van Pelt.
Thanks! I really enjoyed your explanation of Kabbalah on your website - refreshing. All of the literal garbage on the web about it is just that - garbage. It is a mix of Hinduism and Occult magic. I highly doubt that a Jewish person would even consider stupid concepts such as reincarnation or "Stairway" to heaven. Wasn't that a song? Hmmm... Thank you again, I am learning a lot!
