Hey can you keep two male gourami in a 55 gal tank or will they fight alot.

@MrSoccerDude26 Depending upon how you're stocked, with a tank that size, you could keep 2 couples ( 2 males and 2 females) if you keep plenty of plants and cover around so that they're not always being forced to interact with each other. But I wouldn't recommend it if your tank is sparse or if it were about that size.

@cobaltphantom hey, if u havent already gotten it. the gouramis are peaceful (can fight but mostly dont in my experience), they are very neat eaters and eat till their full. then they "play", chew food, spit out. haha so long as you feed properly and dont have wasted food sitting at the bottom... with 1 2 or even 3 gouramis in a 10-15 gallon (dwarfs that is), you could do a 20 gallon filter and be PERFECT. a 20gal power filter is good for under 20, over i prefer cannisters for 2x the tanks gal.

if you want those to grow to the full size you will have to get a 20 galleon and nice video idk before that you could keep betas with those

Please respond back. I have a 40liter fishtank as well, 10 gals, and I have2 cory catfish which wont bother the gourmi a betta and 2 swordtails and 2 guppies. They are all peacefull community type fishes. I was wonderering if I can have 2 male dward gourmis in the tank. The other fish are small like 1 inches. Would i be able to keep them. Cause everywhere I read says they need 10 gals and i have a 10 gal tank.?

the female usually doesnt have much colour. mine is light brown while my male is blue/red.

yes the way i was trying to figure out was the dorasal fin, if its rounder its a female, if its pointer its a male

@dahargreaves wrongg thats a female and a male lol one has a pointy top dorsal fin the other a rounded one. in my tank a 29 gallon i got 4 guys and one girl they doo fine along with my 2 kissing fish lol

you really shouldn't put two male dwarf gourami's in anything under 20 gallons, and never with a betta. They will fight each other for territory and kill/injure the betta. Your tank looks pretty full without them.

Yes, he is definitely a betta splenden or siamese fighting fish.

He is doing fine. The only time I had problems with the betta was when I first introduced the Congos. He is fine now, and keeps to himself mostly...
