  • Gordon: I never thanked you

Batman: And you'll never have to

My favorite line from that movie

  • I remember watching this when it came out. I was like 9. I couldn't remember the 1989 Batman film all that well so I assumed that this was just a prequel to explain where Batman EXACTLY came from.

So when I saw the Joker card I just thought that they ended it right where the 1989 Batman movie started.

    Now I know better :D

  • I Just Realized This. Bane Is From The League Of Shadows. In Batman Begins The Fake Ra's Says Gotham Must Be Destroyed. From The Pictures I See His Men Use The Same Weapons As Them.

  • this is soo bad ass when i saw that card i went :D!

becouse you knew it was the joker and the dark knight was THE best super hero movie i have ver seen i hope the dark knight rises is jsut as good X3

  • Just saying they should have saved the joker for the last movie i mean he is the biggest batman villain so why not make him the last and not make idk riddler or bane for the second and joker for third but im not that mad they are a great series after all

  • @KakashiIsHokage he past away

  • Producing that Joker card is the greatest thing ive ever seen,

  • Batman fan: I still haven't seen Batman and Robin.

Nolan: And you will never have to.

  • "...and you'll never have to." Still gives me a boner...

  • as is almost impossible to show the joker in TDKR, they at least can show a joker calling card like this one, just to make happy to the fans like me, trust me, just a little sign like this one, to make sure that joker is still out there making his brutal crimes :)

  • @Filmbuff580 My guess is that they'll mention that he died or something. If so, they'll probably say he got shot to death trying to escape prison or something like that.

  • This one sucked, the dark knight is voted as the ninth best movie in the world

  • @iamthejesus100 shut up you dumb ass! pay respect to the beginning of the legend! stupid asshole! without this movie the dark knight is stupid to watch. Typical shitty casual who doesn't know a shit about batman.

  • it should've just ended at the joker's card. i feel as if this was just an appeal to the audience, that's why i didn't really know who the villain would be in The Dark Knight, so if it ended at the joker's card, i wold have no doubt that it would've been the joker.

  • 0:47

  • Christian bale should just act while kevin conroy voices

  • little did we, like batman, know what was awaiting him , i seem to remember a line in dark knight aswell were batman says '' whats the bigger problem, 1 man ( referring to the joker ) or the entire mob..... hahaha how wrong he was !!!! r i p ledger , your portrayal will forever be second to none ! phenomenal !

  • And your wearing a mask.... jumping off rooftops

  • The last lines are my favorite. "I never said thank you." "And you'll never have to." Like, such a badass exit.

  • @elcap22 Dick Ballsworth?

  • Lol Gordan looks like Walter White from breaking bad season one

  • I literally freaked out when I first saw this

  • When Gordon says "He has a taste for the theatrical like you" I knew it had to be one of Batman's famous villains. The moment he said "he leaves a calling card" I knew EXACTLY who he was talking about.. SO fucking awesome!

  • Best Joker is Mark Hamill

  • the second he said "leaves a calling card" KNEW it was joker, so awesome.

  • Bale not the best Batman But Heath is the best Joker !!!

  • your account is so gay. grow up kid

  • So many simple elements woven perfectly for that reveal. It shows the value of bringing all elements of media together to create emotion in a scene, including music. They could have just flipped over the card and let that be the end of that, but then there's that sharp twang in the background that reminds you: oh f*** the Joker is out there causing mahem and nobody's the wiser of how dangerous a threat he brings. Then it's back to Gordon and Batman and you know the city will be alright, somehow.

  • Love that foreboding music in the background when the card was revealed. Gordon & Batman had no idea how tough an adversary the Joker would be. Awesome scene.

  • I don't know about best Batman but he is definitely the best Bruce Wayne. My personal favorite is Kevin Conroy though!

  • the top 2 comments have they same amout of thumbs up

  • @TheAnarchistWarrior7 if only u werent a jackass without balls

  • bale is the best bruce wayne not batman

  • who disliked?

  • god, his suit is so much cooler looking in this movie than in tdk, sorry if you think i'm a hater but i gotta tell the truth. say what you want about the logistical and practical reason for the tdk suit, but this one just plain looks more like what batman ought to be.

  • the thing that bothered me bout bales performance as batman was his goddamn deep voice. just sounded stupid with it being so damn deep. other than that, he was a good batman

  • I'm not sure how to explain it but in its own way that little card and the slight dip in the background music once it was revealed was in its own way just as awesome as the entire sequel was. And I love The Dark Knight to death.

  • Anyone know the soundtrack's name playing during the conversation?

  • @KnightMD Corynorhinus

  • BEST ENDING EVER

  • when he terns the card, you could never imagine what the joker was gonna be like. (0:56)

  • I never said thank you for posting this...

  • @Tommyak13 I only watched this cuz of american dad too

  • I like how i didn't notice tis scene until AFTER I watched The Dark Knight.

  • I only looked at this because of American Dad.

  • @TommyAK13 That's pretty sad.

  • @ramyg4 How is that pretty sad? That doesn't even make sense.

  • who wouldve thought the joker and the dark knight would follow this...

  • It's amazing how good Gary Oldman is at totally becoming whatever role he is cast in. I thought he made a perfect Jim Gordon in "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" - he even looked just like him. It's hard to believe that he's also played a whole host of other roles like Sirius Black, Dracula, and the terrorist leader in "Air Force One."

  • You know I never said thank you for posting this....

  • Clooney gets a bad wrap as batman, but i think he fit the part perfectly. he was just the victim of a terrible script and even worse director. Joel even admitted he fucked the movie up and the exes were morons to bring him back to do the 4th after he made the 3rd an over the top neon freak show

  • BB-TDK-TDKR

    Crown of comicbook-movies!

  • Gordon <3

  • cant wait to see the third batman movie! christian bale is the best!

  • Bale? Really? With that fake ass voice? LOL wow

  • kilmer is cool and frtom batman and robin cooler

  • Christopher Nolan's movie endings are freakin awesome

  • @azimh91 true

  • @azimh91 I'll definitely agree with you on that...this ending was a taster to the greatest comic book film of all time, and of course, Inception...if you've noticed, Gordon's been part of the ending scenes of both BB (dialogue with Batman) and TDK (monologue)...

  • I will always wish Katie would've just finished out Rachel's role.

  • batman begins has a nice soundtrack

  • DRUM DRUM DRUM DRUM...DAAAAHHHH DUM DUM DUM DUM DUM...DAAAAAHHHH...DUM DUM DUM....TOOOROO TOOOROO..................TOOROOO.......(lol sorry, couldn't resist)

  • whenever i see this scene i wanna cry! especially for the joker!!

  • @dimitrizeman100 you got to be fucking kidding, right?

  • This scene was fuckin beast!!!

  • whats the name of the next batman movie after this one

  • @dimitrizeman100 batman forever ;-)

  • @mrdjotter91 thanks

  • @dimitrizeman100 its not really its batman the dark knight sorry ''/

  • @dimitrizeman100 The Dark Knight.

  • @dimitrizeman100 The Dark Night...this was the ending to Batman Begins

  • This trilogy is the crown of all comic-book-movies.

    BB

    TDK

    TDKR

  • i even say thank u..? Batman says" and u never hv too..what the gud words

  • begins was much better then the dark knight, in my oppinion

  • The ending to Batman Begins, sets up the Sequel (The Dark Knight) so well!

  • I didn't wait this long to lose you again. A!

  • Hmmm , "We can bring this back.." ,,,,"no? "hmmm no need to say Thank You........." I never said Thank you...........AND you will never have to...HOpe on the streets, bad cops, people running scared....I felt strength in myself only because of you.....i hear the pulse again....and your heartbeat pounds me. A!

  • Beautiful foreshadowing "JOKER" who like you has a taste for the theatrical...

  • i don't know whats better. this or the ending to batman returns. they're both so great!

  • @pjdr before any doubt in your minds leans you to Batman Returns, this one has the better ending. Forever and always, the better ending.

  • That escalation bit was the perfect way to wrap up the first film

  • were can i get it freeonline

  • great scott, what a good movie! I just wish they'd do another one soon..

  • this scene gave me chills when i saw this in the theaters

  • It fucking sucks that Heath Ledger died. Nolan won't recast the Joker without him and I would love to see the Joker make an appearance in the 3rd Batman movie along with Harley Quinn, but she won't be in it either because you can't have one without the other.

  • BALE is the best Batman.. hands down.. then keaton.. then kilmer... clooney was horrible

  • @LISANJOHN710 after I saw this in the theatre, it did kind of hurt me to say that Bale may have been a better Batman than Keaton. This was finally a Batman movie that was actually about Batman.

  • @pjdr your right this movie and the dar knight had more of a batman feel to it

  • @LISANJOHN710 HWere does Adam West rank?

  • @lastdragon55 id say before clooney

  • @LISANJOHN710 I agree. But, let me throw in another wrench. Where would you put Kevin Conroy? He was the voice actor for Batman in the 1990s animated series and the "Justice League" TV series.

  • @lastdragon55 id say after keaton.

  • @LISANJOHN710 To me, Bale is the ultimate Batman and about as loyal as you can get to the comics. I go back and forth between Keaton and Conroy though. Not so much the actors, but their settings. I thought the Batman in the animated series was more comicbook loyal than the one in Burton's films. But, that's more of a fault of the writers than the actual characters/actors.

  • @lastdragon55 i agree. like lol joker killed batman parents umm no. lol batman begins was the closest to the comics. the thing that bothers me is. if they wanted to stay awy from burtons bat films then why did he choose the rubber bat suit. not saying i dont love it. but i would have rather of seen of seen the black and gray bat suit.. they made it better in DARK KNIGHT though.

  • @LISANJOHN710 clooney was shit because the others were too good

  • @LISANJOHN710 Actually, Adam West was THE batman >_> prove me wrong nigger

  • @TheChickenLives his version was more of a joke version he was never truly what comics represented

  • @LISANJOHN710 What about Conroy? :P

  • @bigfatcarp93 well hes a different subject.. but he has definitely put a stamp on the batman character

  • @LISANJOHN710 True. And I agree with your ordering, by the way :)

  • @LISANJOHN710 but bales batman voice is still not okay

  • @LISANJOHN710 they both suck

  • @LISANJOHN710 yeah i also think that

  • i remember waitng in line at midnight on the first day when this movie came out in theatres and then at the ending everybody started clapping and screaming and then i went out to the washroom and then i could hear people clapping and screamin in the other cinema room next door to the room i was watchin it in. it was so sick ive never seen another movie get people so hyped up not even dead mans chest ending was this good

  • Bale sucks as batman because he doesn't need to do the ''voice'' it should all be natural. Batman and Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne and batman, its not a costume its a way of life.

  • one of the best cliffhangers

  • i wonder if gordon knows that the person he is talking to is the same sad kid he comforted like 22 years

  • They are never going to find another villain to top the performance of Heath Ledger's Joker. I can assure you of that.

  • Lol, Batman can't turn his head.

  • @SlamDunkStudios lol i never realized that

  • @SlamDunkStudios Yeah, that's why the costume is redone in The Dark Knight.

  • @SlamDunkStudios Haha, he actually cant turn his head lol

  • @SlamDunkStudios I can't breathe, your fucking comment lmao

  • @SlamDunkStudios yeah, rember in the dark knight how he says he wants to be able to turn his head

  • "armed robber double homocide"

hmmm, kinda reminds me of another scene from another batman movie...

  • IF YOU pause it just right on the card , it reads

    J.KERR

    or

    JoKERR

1:02 so either Joker had his goons find the card or he did it himself ^^

  • @jaganar1 what are you talking about

  • @Kamakazi242012

DUDE if i have to explain what i SAID IN PLAIN ENGLISH in the first post . you really need help .

  • @jaganar1 so you're saying Joker's goons found a card that said JoKERR on top, or Joker did it himself.

    No shit.

  • @Kamakazi242012 no you dumb phuk ... the officer IS

J.KERR , the joker planted the evidence you dumb bastitch .

takes a real Genius to re-read something like you did . so dont get smart with me since you are missing braincells and IQ points .

  • @jaganar1 lol no shit the joker planted the evidence. you're trying to make yourself look smart.

  • @jaganar1 its j.Kerr or joseph kerr is real name

  • Both the dark knight and batman begins have a strong deep ending, I love it

  • i just recently read Batman: Year One. nolan took so many thinks from it, like this scene or the part with all the bats following batmans signal. that's what i call respect for source material, something that other directors probably couldn't even spell.....like tim burton, who actually said that he has never read a comic book -.-

  • Bale is awesome as bruce and batman, he clearly fits the role.

  • why does every version of this scene disable embedding? I need this clip for my Batman Begins cracked topic and I cant find one I can use anywhere

  • The evidence bag the card comes in says "Recovered by: J kerr" on it

Joseph kerr- one of the joker's alias'...

    Hmm.

  • Nice foreshadowing into The Dark Knight and the slight escalation in music when Batman turns over "calling card" is exciting. I, also was moved by the line from Gordon, "I never said 'thank you.'" to which Batman replies, "And you'll never have to."

  • thats a good hint

  • thats good shit

  • omg i love this sean for some reason

  • lol sean

  • true, hanz zimmer really elevates the movies with his music

  • Seeing that Joker card gives me chills every time.

  • i like the batman movies then any other super heroes movies because they dont kill their villians and try to put a story to their villians and they put good endings with clues JOKER!

  • When I saw this opening weekend (the theater had close to a thousand people in it), everyone went fucking nuts when he turned the card over.

  • When I saw the Joker card the only thing I could think was DUN DUN DUN!. I also really love the ending quote... "I never said thank you." "And you'll never have to." so powerful

  • remember when we saw this scene at the cinema, and thought "wow, cool, they`ll put the Joker on the sequel" but had no idea of how awesome, massive and groundbreaking TDK would turn out to be?

Ah, ignorance is bliss, good times...

  • they should have a sequel to dark knight with harley quinn taking revenge on batman because he killed the joker

  • He didn't kill the Joker, and it would be difficult to have Harley Quinn as a main villain. Maybe an assistant to the Joker

  • YES but not just Harley Quinn people like the Mad Hatter and the Riddler and... CLAYFACE and stuff but if he didnt kill the Joker that makes it VERY hard to do so scrap that idea

  • Harley Quinn is more of a cartoon character in my opinion.

  • i think batman begins ending was more epic then the dark knights ending, although they are both great

  • Begins' ending is definitely a "happier" ending and I get chills when I see it, but TDK's ending montage is so powerful and emotional that it rocks me to the core everytime I watch it. Watching Batman running, bleeding, practically limping to the Batpod while he's being chased, showing that above all he is a human man w/ extraordinary will and skill while Zimmer's music pounds in my ears... epic.

  • I know right. It just makes you want to put on a cape and punch a bank robber in the face.

  • Its so creepy in the last scene.. the Joker card....

  • When Batman saw the card, 1 of the best villains was revealed. Great scene!

  • after seeing this i was like yay(did cartwheels) but seriously i couldnt wait till this dark knight movie came out and it was better than i expected best movie i ever saw

  • This ending still sends a chill down my spine.

Everyone gasped during the first time I saw it.

  • Batman Begins was only preparing the truly first Batman movie THE DARK KNIGHT which rivaled with Tim Burton's Batman in 1989...but humiliated it in the end....it was good Nolan didn't set first set the first movie with the joker as main villain....he's set a better story....good job Chris Nolan!!!!

  • Gary Oldman's voice doesn't sound natural all the time in this movie. Perfect in The Dark Knight though... Great foreshadowing of the Joker though.

  • bale is the dark knight was better that begins...in my opinon

  • I agree but i only think that because heath played such an amazing character in the dark knight that bale got overshadowed.

  • Where starting over.........reality.

  • This scene confused so many stupid people. A lot people thought that this was a prequel to the Burton movie just because of this scene.

  • man when i saw that... I was like no fuckin way!! (but honestly, i figured they would tie it into the original batman from 1989 and not make the dark knight) how dumb and wrong was I?? lol.

  • greatest set up for a sequel ever

  • I read somewhere they weren't even planning a sequel, but they just put it here any way. Pretty cool.

  • I don't know why everyone says that Bale sucks as Batman, I think he did an excellent job, like he really fit the role, it's cool when he alters his voice as batman

  • @tikitikitumbotairai it's not like Batman is going to intimidate hardened criminals using his Bruce Wayne voice....Now THAT would look and sound ridiculous. Just imagine the whole interrogation scene in Dark Knight without Batman sounding like an animal...the Joker would spoil Bruce Wayne to the cops.
