  • I think this is what the Canon 5D MKII should have been!

  • less pixel is more

  • 12 MP are best and native image quality at high ISO

  • Probably the best camera I've ever used to date :o)

  • I like your reviews. Most professional of the Youtube set here. Please keep up the great work.

  • Does nikon d700 + mb10 battery grip = nikon d3s? Except for video capabilities.

  • Damn so many buttons! I use Canon btw.

  • 6 viewers use Canon

  • I have a D90 and I was thinking of buying this camera. The thing is I just bought a 18-20mm DX lense. I cannot fing this lens in FX format. Whats my options please?

  • @pjos111 Carry two camera bodies with lenses for both. You'll look more professional that way too =0P

  • I absolutely love this camera. the best camera ever for me is Nikon D700. Excellent review mate. thank you

  • eeekk!!! Put a neck strap on!!

  • @06dhewett ROFL!!!

  • cant wait to go full frame this is the camera i'm looking to get but been hearing about an upgrade for the D700 coming out in 2011.. do you have any idea when in 2011 it will be coming out?

  • @iKhrisPhoto The rumours say first quarter.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera its going to be announced 24 of august a log with the d4

  • Great camera - want one...., however that viewfinder eyepiece reminds of a feature seen on blow up dolls (so I hear)! Thumbs up if you see what I mean!!??

  • WHY do all the guys AND girls brag their DSLR camera can take HD video??? It is only for 5minutes anyway... Even mobile phones can do it but it is made for send and receive TXT , make and receive calls.......

If you want to make a proper movie then, buy a MOVIE camera that has HD .......

  • @HARMONICA777 it seems to me, you have never seen a good movie filmed by a canon 7D or 5D mk2, then you would see how good they actually are.

Even shows like House MD has been filmed with a 5D mk2.

SO PLEASE, only speak when you know how it works and what it is capable of. :)

  • On top of a building with no camera neck strap. Glad I wasn't standing below!

  • the d700 is not 100% viewfinder -- that sucks---//--buy the canon 7D instead---its more advanced in many ways

  • @sasktank

Wow, you are clueless about DSLRs. That view finder on the D700 is MASSIVE compared to the Canon 7D. The 7D's viewfinder is 100% of a 1.6x crop sensor camera, the D700 is a full 35mm camera.

  • @ChrisInCali D700 has only 95% frame coverage & only .72x magnification, while 7D has 100% frame coverage & 1.0x magnification. You are wrong, the D700 viewfinder is only slightly larger than the 7D. It's not a MASSIVE difference. Get your facts straight before spouting off..clueless one. Side note, the 7D has an excellent eyepoint of 22mm, D700 eyepoint an awful 18mm. Do you even know what that means, clueless one? I still prefer the D700, but I don't like pompous brats like you.

  • u know what, i think i have the hots for u Nigel Atherton.. yes i do. i also have the hots for the Leica M9.

    great rev. thanks.

  • This Camera is Great!!!

  • hey thanks for the video. Which Camera do you recomend for a budget under 1000 USD, that can take good picture but shoots HD videos and have a good performance shooting at night. Something like the Canon Mark III but cheaper

  • Try the D300, D300s or 7D.

  • I want this camera! I feel that it might make sense for me to skip the D300 after having had the D90 for so long now because I'd rather have a full frame sensor. Maybe I'll grab a D700 at the end of this year.

  • I got a D700 after a year of research and now I regret the time spent deciding. I wish I had gotten the D700 long time ago.

  • arrived 10 mins ago. just started the battery charging! got the 14-24mm nikkor lens. Now i have to pay for it and enjoy it....

  • enjoy i just got it

    wanna share something???

  • I`m hoping for some good results in time, but it`ll take a lot of time and effort

  • I intend to do landscape shooting, but with print sizes up to A1 size. Will the d700 provide good enough image quality at this size, or would the canon 5d2 be a better option?

I am at a loss, but want to decide soon, so any advice would be very gratefully appreciated

  • jep, it does the job good! (actually better than the 5d2 because the image quality is better at the d700)

But be shure that you don't print with too much of dots per inch because of that fact the d700 has only 12 mp

  • @FixedHDD

    Many thanks for your advice.

Do you have 1st hand experience of printing A1 images taken by a d700? I ask because I`ll be committing £3k to this, and need to be certain!

  • whats the zoom power on this thing ? like over 24x opsticale zoom i hope ?

  • @rogan200139 i hope you're kidding..

  • i dont really know much about these cameras, but it problebly depends on what lens i buy hu ?

  • How much money is it in Canadian dollars?

  • @TheRainProductions about $2 500

  • d700 is the best camera ever!!!

  • Hope you are right, mine's comes next week!

  • I'm in the middle of changing to Fx having sold all the Dx lens I have - my D700 comes on Tuesday the the D300 goes. If you were to use a Dx lens on the D700 the image would be perfectly fine but is cropped so much the image would be about 5 mp rather than the 12 mp you would get with a Fx lens - the D300 is a brilliant camera if you don't need Fx. The 2 lens to die for are 14-24 and 24-70 - even Canon users are using them with adaptors they are that good.

  • No i don't think you can use Dx format lenses with the d700 or any of the full frame cameras as aperatures aren't wide enough

  • Yes you can, there's a "crop" mode on the D700, so it will crop off the huge amount of vignetting you'll get with a DX lens on it, so it still works but you'll be getting smaller resolutions.

  • Yes, you can but why? And it is spelled aperture. A photographer should know that. :)

  • can we used dx type lenses for fx format like d700?

  • Yes, but since its made for cropped fraim sensors, the view will be cropped.

  • FRAIM???

  • Gaw people i was answering a question about DX format lenses... I know the D700 is full fraim... damn.

  • Is the sensor on the D700 really exactly identical to that of the D3?

  • yes

  • YES

  • I am using d50 for over 3 years now and I have to say that I absolutely love Nikon. I'd like to take my photography forward to the semi-pro level so I am going to need better camera for sure. I am thinking of purchasing d700, it's seems to be great piece of kit!

  • It´s an AMAZING camera, you´ll never regret it for a second of your life!

  • gosh... seeing this makes me want a D700 even more.... :P

  • My stupid rich neighbour just gave this camera to his son for his 7th birthday -.-

  • Well, sir, your neighbour sucks.

  • He'll get a great work-out on those upper body muscles out if nothing else.

  • @dangomles a big giant lens :)

  • 7th?!?! woah im 19 and i just got the D90 for my b-day haha

  • Comment removed

  • thats a crime. seriously. brake in to his house and replace it with a toy camera lol. A child shouldn't have a d700

  • @Allroundmoviemaker

    That really stings.

  • @Allroundmoviemaker you need to go and STEAL IT

  • @Allroundmoviemaker was it d700?

  • Comment removed

  • @zimaroulis18

7th birthday means hes 7 years old.

  • @Allroundmoviemaker your neighbours son wont even be able to lift the camera lol

  • @Allroundmoviemaker hahahhaa

  • @Allroundmoviemaker Well my neighbour bought one for his wife who has dementure, and she ate it!

  • @Allroundmoviemaker wtf ,what a fucking waste

  • Is the camera considered as a pro camera? Iam an amateur and hesitate between the D300 and D700.

  • MAn im right there with you!

im getting one of them in the next couple of months, and im extremely torn in the decision!!

i really like the d700's high iso performance,, but i like the price of the d300, and i could get a couple extras if i get it.......... AHHHHHHH!!!!

i dont know what to do!!

  • if your goin pro, a gotta have the best of the best. my friend has the d700, they are so much fun and worth every penny in my mind.

  • high ISO, you say? get a D90.

then spend what's left on some good glass.

  • well im looking for more of s professional model than the d90, but that is a pretty good camera!

  • The D90 is an amazing camera for the price but the performance of the D700 is just too good! Once you´ve tried one of the FX cameras there´s no turning back! The viewfinder on the D700 is also fantastic. I use this camera with a 85mm 1.4 and the 24-70 and there´s simply nothing like it! Next lens... 14-24!

  • hi

how moch does the d700 cost in norway and the lemses

  • I was lucky and got the body for about 2200 USD, now it costs like 2900...!

  • can you plssss tell me where did u get it....

  • can you plssss tell me where did u get it.... thanks in advance..

  • These days, it costs around 18500 NOK for the camera body and around 14000NOK for the 14-24/f2.8 and 24-70/f2.8

  • maybe not worth it being an amateur but either ay they are both great cameras and in the daylight the image quality at 200 asa is impossible to tell apart...secondly there's more to the 35ish mm sensor than just iso performance the dof is greatly improved so is the previewing of dof in the viewfinder regardless of the coverage. Oh and dont forget the ease of full framed glass if you are used to 35mm film,

  • Bought this camera yesterday. I'm already impressed.

  • would you put the build being closer to the d3 or d300?

  • d300

  • d3

Image quality is exactly the same, same sensor/processor.

  • i said build not iq :P

  • The d3 DOESNT have dust reduction??? I thought it did.

  • Why does the sound at the start sound like "RETARDED"

  • To me it sounds like a robot saying "I farted"

  • I Shoot with a D3 and have a D700 its a amazing camera body.. quality of pics are the same. never forget its the photographer and not always the camera.

    -Rome

  • great looking camera.nice that its smaller than the d3 but is the quality of pics compareable?

  • the image quality is identical
