  • There's version with Ellie singing lead on her 'Let it be written, Let it be sung' album from 1967. It's better than this, though basically the same arrangement.

  • I always loved this song....I was just a little kid when it came out..but, I loved it when it came on my brother's radio...

  • At this stage from having heard thousands of songs it's not easy to find a song that I've never heard before that is really good but this one is GREAT.

  • aww I love it

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Truly one of the greatest songs ever!

It's been going through my head for forty years and alghough I had the entire

song in my brain all this time, I could not for the life of me remember who sang it

and could not find it anywhere. So thanks a million. Truly a gift to be able to hear this again!

  • We alla gotta go home some day. Good night Ellie baby, sleep tight ...

  • I haven't slept, otherwise, good.

  • Well, they weren't exactly the Crystals one of the Crustals sang lead. Ellie sang back up.

  • @giano56 ... which Crystal sang lead? Was it Mary Thomas ?

  • @Kikomel1951 No. The lead singer wasn't a Crystal. It was a woman named Paulette.

  • @leigy Ahh right, I just re-read this in Crystal Barbra Alston's book: the Butterflys were Mary Thomas, Paulette, Myrna Girard (an ex-Crystal), and a fourth.

  • @leigy Ahh, thanks! You're right !

  • RIP ELLIE!

  • this song came out the summer of 64

  • According to Humble Harve, when Red Bird was started, George Goldner was given hundreds of demos for Red Bird's first single. Goldner selected "Chapel of Love" by the Dixie Cups. Goldner, an unappreciated rock and roll genius.

  • Fun Fact!: The Butterflys were really The Crystals! This the last track on the One Kiss Can Lead To Another box set. Such a lovely song, one of my favs!

  • Does anyone know when this song came out? My babysitter brought this record (and LOTS more), and used to pay her 45's for us kids. I want to say I heard this about 1965?.....

  • It hit #51 on Billboards Pop chart Oct, 1964. Spent 7 weeks on the chart.

  • This is too SLOW.... If you want a good print of this on CD there is a thing called 'The Redbird Story', a compilation of old songs and this is on it.. SOOOO many good old memories on this set.

  • What is that machine you playing your giant CD on?

  • joer el niño este cuantos discos tienee! fanegaaasss jajaj

  • I'm wondering if the people at You Tube look what's being searched and then post it if they find what somebody was searching for, because I put a search for this about a month ago or so along with Horatio (I gotta have you) plus a couple other tunes that aren't well known and then I searched again and they popped up.

  • Great record!

  • Love this song! My mom has the original 45 of it -- I was so shocked to find it in an old box of records.

  • Also recorded by The Searchers.
