You know, asian animated films really do have a tendency to be great up until a point at or near the ending where they either hiccup, stumble, falter, go down a star, or just straight out fuck up the movie. Seriously, in just about every single anime, some good character dies for a stupid reason, something happens too conveniently, or something. The question you have to ask then is whether or not the movie remains good as a whole regardless. For this one, I'd give it 3 1/2 *s instead of 4 *s.

Personally, I thought the movie was good. However, it gets FAR too corny at the end (to the point of displeasure) and there are a few character designs that look very similar to "Now and Then, Here and There" lol

I felt like they were trying to pass off a sad ending as a happy ending. The whole "life just goes on" or the "I just experienced the best thing ever and it's gone forever now, but I just accept it and live life." kind of endings just don't do it for me. They are depressing. Good movie other than that.

well, the way i saw it was that the storyline was based more along the lines for a younger audience, so while older viewers might see the movie as boring and simple, younger kids would be like 'awsome he's flying', things like that....younger audiences dont really need complica

the message in the movie was ok, the movie itself was really lame... pretty much a copy-paste of most eastern graphic movies in individual scenes.. nothing fresh about that.. also, the approach to dialogues is so recycled, it borders on the absurd, the lack of literary creativity on the part of the script writers..

Man, movies with innocent nudity always get looked down on, but when there's rampant sex and violence, well, that's perfectly fine.

shame. if the story of Branik and the god of war/ his loneliness thing had been introduced earlier and worked on, perhaps into some form of conflict, the film could have been really quite interesting. As it is (that is to say, being mentioned for less than a minute at the end), it seemed that Branik's story was added only to cheese up the ending, shoddily patching up the unexplained aspects of an important character and trying to send out a Message of Huupe and Luuve...

I think I know why. I have a strong feeling this was originally planned as a series. There just seemed too many parts that skipped around or left stuff out. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a series but I guess they couldn't get the funding or something stupid like that...

when i first started watching this movie, it reminded me of the movie "the castle in the sky" but they are very different when it gets to the middle and the end. both movies have to do with ancient civilizations, a boy and girl together, mysterious powers, and a military guy trying to wage war. castle in the sky has a happy ending though, but both are good. if you read this comment and you liked this movie, you should check it out.

Actually your right, the Golden Snake was the equivalent of the Nazis in WWII.IF you noticed, a lot of the movie was based between the time of 1939 to 1945 but in a smaller amount of time.
